Every Source of Technology Points in Palworld 1.0 (Both Kinds)

Card listing every source of ordinary Technology Points in Palworld.

Palworld has two separate technology currencies, and most players only ever earn one of them on purpose. Ordinary Technology Points arrive at +6 per level — but they also arrive +1 for every fast travel point you unlock, which means exploring the map pays for the tech tree directly. Ancient Technology Points are earned entirely differently, and only on first defeat, which makes them a finite resource you can accidentally waste. Here is every source of both.

Where Technology Points Come From

SourcePoints
Level up+6 per level
Unlock a fast travel point+1 each
Advanced Technical Manual+1
Innovative Technical Manual+2
Futuristic Technical Manual+3

The fast travel line is the one nobody plans around. Every statue you activate while crossing the map is a technology point, which turns ordinary exploration into progression. Players who fast-travel between two known points for a hundred hours are leaving these on the table.

Levelling is the bulk of it. At +6 per level, reaching the Level 80 cap yields 480 Technology Points from levelling alone — which is why the ordinary tech tree stops being a constraint fairly early in a serious playthrough.

The manuals are what fill the gaps before you have levelled, and they are the only way to accelerate the curve.

Ancient Technology Points

SourcePoints
Tower boss — first defeat5
Alpha Pal — first defeat1 each
Bounty — first completion1
Ancient Technical Manualfrom dungeon chests

Read "first defeat" carefully — this is the important part. Repeat kills give nothing. Killing Suzaku twenty times for relics awards exactly one Ancient Technology Point, from the first one.

That makes Ancient Technology Points a finite, content-gated currency rather than something you grind. You cannot farm your way to more of them; you can only clear more content.

The tower maths is worth doing. Palworld has nine tower bosses, and at 5 points each on first defeat that is 45 Ancient Technology Points from towers alone — by a wide margin the densest source in the game, and a strong argument for working through the tower line rather than skipping to the content you want.

Alpha Pals give 1 each, and there are a great many of them, so a completionist Alpha sweep is the second-densest source.

Bounties give 1 on first completion — another reason to work through the list rather than repeating a favourite.

Where Manuals Actually Drop

AnubisInnovative5%
KatressAdvanced1%
Bounty tokensAdvancedtraded
BreedingvariousAnubis, Lyleen, Lyleen Noct, Shadowbeak
Ocean salvageAdvanced and Ancient1.294% each

The Grass02 dungeon is the standout by a long way. It drops both an Advanced Technical Manual and an Ancient Technical Manual at 23% each — the only routine source of ancient points outside first-clears, and it sits in the least dangerous dungeon tier in the game. As covered in dungeon loot tables, Grass02 is the outlier that drops no souls, keys or spheres — and this is what it drops instead.

Ocean salvage is the other route to ancient points, and a distant second. Salvage drops both manuals at 1.294% — about one eighteenth of the Grass02 dungeon's 23%. It is worth knowing only because salvage is something you may already be running for gold and Hyper Spheres; it is not worth starting for manuals.

Anubis at 5% is the best Pal source, and since you are likely farming Anubis anyway for Bone at 3 – 5 (100%) and a guaranteed Large Pal Soul, the manuals accumulate as a side effect.

And note the breeding line. Anubis, Lyleen, Lyleen Noct and Shadowbeak can all be bred, which means a Breeding Farm is indirectly a technology point generator — you are producing the Pals whose drop tables contain manuals.

Planning the Two Currencies

Card explaining how the two point currencies differ and how to plan them.

The two currencies are not interchangeable, and they behave in opposite ways.

The practical consequence: ordinary points stop being scarce and ancient points never do.

By the time you reach the endgame you will have hundreds of Technology Points and can unlock most of the ordinary tree. Ancient Technology Points remain tight throughout, because their supply is fixed by how much content you have cleared for the first time.

So the plan that follows is simple:

  1. Clear every tower once, early — 45 points is most of your ancient budget.
  2. Kill each Alpha at least once, even ones you do not need drops from.
  3. Complete each bounty once rather than repeating one.
  4. Activate every fast travel statue you pass — free ordinary points.
  5. Run Grass02 dungeons when you specifically need ancient points, since it is the only repeatable source.

And spend ancient points deliberately. The ancient technology tier includes the Egg Incubator — which gates breeding entirely — and the Grappling Gun, so the first few points have obvious homes.

Practical tips

  • +6 Technology Points per level, so Level 80 gives 480 from levelling alone.
  • +1 per fast travel point unlocked. Exploration pays the tech tree directly.
  • Ancient points are first-defeat only. Repeat kills award nothing.
  • Nine tower bosses × 5 = 45 ancient points — the densest source in the game.
  • Grass02 dungeons drop Advanced and Ancient manuals at 23% each — the only repeatable ancient source.
  • Anubis drops Innovative manuals at 5%, and it can be bred.

Running your own Palworld 1.0 server

Technology points come from clearing content once — towers, Alphas, bounties and fast travel statues — which makes them a shared-world problem rather than a solo grind. On a dedicated Palworld 1.0 server the whole map stays live around the clock so a group can pick off towers and Alphas whenever people are online, and your Breeding Farm keeps producing the Pals whose drop tables hold manuals. Full crossplay lets everyone contribute, and one-click backups protect a tech tree that represents real hours.

Conclusion

Palworld runs two separate technology currencies. Ordinary Technology Points come at +6 per level480 by the Level 80 cap — plus +1 for every fast travel point you unlock and +1, +2 or +3 from Advanced, Innovative and Futuristic Technical Manuals. Ancient Technology Points work differently and are far scarcer: 5 per tower boss, 1 per Alpha Pal, 1 per bounty — all on first defeat only, so repeat kills give nothing. With nine tower bosses that is 45 points from towers alone, the densest source available. The one repeatable route is the Grass02 dungeon, which drops Advanced and Ancient Technical Manuals at 23% each in the least dangerous dungeon tier in the game. Ordinary points stop being scarce; ancient points never do — so clear every tower, Alpha and bounty once, early, and activate every statue you walk past.
