How to Catch Anubis in Palworld (Location, Skills & Drops)

Anubis hero card showing the Ground Pal Anubis, Paldeck #139, against a desert gradient.

Anubis has a reputation as the best all-round Pal in Palworld, and the numbers mostly support it: Handiwork Lv6, Mining Lv6 and Transporting Lv4 in one Pal, an 880 – 1,114 Attack ceiling, and a partner skill that converts your damage to Ground for +30~50% Attack — one of the largest conversion bonuses in the game. There is a catch, and it is the same one that undoes every generalist. Here is where to find it, and how to use it without wasting it.

Where to Find Anubis

Where-to-find card listing Anubis's three spawn populations and its egg data.

  • Anubis DunesLevel 55, at coordinates -134, -94. This is the classic fixed spawn and the one most players use.
  • Desert IslandLevel 68 – 72.
  • The World TreeLevel 80, which adds the full relic ladder.

The Level 55 Anubis Dunes spawn is the one to take. Work suitability and the Bone and Large Pal Soul drops are identical at every level, so there is nothing to gain from fighting the Level 80 version unless you want relics.

Bring heat-resistant armor — the Desiccated Desert will chip you down while you fight, and it is the reason most first attempts fail rather than anything Anubis does.

Bone, and Why It Matters

Anubis drops Bone at 3 – 5 per kill, 100% — and Bone is one of the materials you cannot automate. There is no plantation for it, no ranch that produces it and no mining node that yields it; it comes from Pals or not at all. It feeds Gunpowder, which feeds every ammunition type in the game.

The Large Pal Soul at 1 per kill, 100% is the second reason to farm it. Pal Souls are what raise a Pal's condensation rank and the Statue of Power's own level track, and Large Souls are the tier most players run short of.

Ground Radiant Gem at 10 – 20 (100%) rounds it out, so a single Anubis kill returns a combat material, a soul and a gem stack.

Three Jobs, One Problem

Work suitability card showing Anubis's three jobs and the work priority trap.

Anubis covers three suitabilities, two of them at Lv6:

JobLevelWhere that ranks
HandiworkLv6Joint third in the game, behind Solenne (Lv8) and Selyne (Lv7)
MiningLv6Behind Aegidron (Lv8) and the Lv7 group
TransportingLv4Mid-table; Knocklem tops it at Lv7

Having three jobs sounds like value. On a busy base it is the opposite.

Palworld runs a fixed work priority order that no Pal can override, and Handiwork and Transporting both outrank Mining. An Anubis with a workbench and a logistics job available will craft and haul before it ever touches the ore. Players who put their prized Anubis on an Ore Mining Site and come back to an empty chest are watching this rule work exactly as designed.

    So use it deliberately:

  • Put Anubis on a base with no mining at all and let it be a crafter — Lv6 Handiwork is genuinely strong, and Handiwork is the most-demanded job in the game at 22 structures.
  • If you want it mining, give it a base with no workbench and no hauling.
  • Or skip it for extraction and use a pure specialist. Aegidron is Mining Lv8 with no competing jobs — better at the task and impossible to distract.

Combat & the Ground Conversion

Combat card showing Anubis's Guardian of the Desert conversion skill and Level 80 stats.

Guardian of the Desert converts your attack type to Ground and adds 30~50% Attack.

That bonus is at the top of its class. The seventeen mounted type converters give +5% uncondensed, rising to +20% at four stars. Anubis sits in the top tier of seven that give +30~50% — alongside Wixen, Wixen Noct, Finsider, Icelyn, Elgrove and Prixter Lux — and every one of those seven works without riding, which is the real advantage. The skill also grants an occasional flash sidestep evade, which is a small but real survivability perk you do not get from other converters.

Ground is the counter to Electric, which makes Anubis the standard answer to Zoe & Grizzbolt and to Electric Pals generally — and Ground also has no shortage of targets across the mid game.

    At Level 80:

  • HP: 5,700 – 7,140
  • Attack: 880 – 1,114
  • Defense: 650 – 830

The Attack is excellent; the Defense of 650 – 830 is the soft spot, so Anubis hits hard and takes damage badly for a Pal of its reputation.

Its kit climbs to Rocky Impact (600), with Ground Smash (500) and Sand Twister (500) below it — and it is worth noting that Anubis is also carried in the party by players who never fight with it, purely for the Stun immunity its presence provides on certain tower runs.

How to Catch Anubis

  1. Bring Water or Grass attackers. Ground is weak to both. Shaolong or Dandilord are the strong picks.
  2. Do not bring Electric Pals. Ground beats Electric outright.
  3. Wear heat-resistant armor for the Desiccated Desert.
  4. Go to -134, -94 for the Level 55 fixed spawn.
  5. Legendary or Ultimate Spheres at Level 55; Ancient Spheres only if you are taking the Level 80 version.

Practical tips

  • Bone at 3 – 5 (100%) — a material you cannot farm any other way, and the base of the entire gunpowder chain.
  • A guaranteed Large Pal Soul every kill makes this a condensing farm as well as a catch.
  • Handiwork Lv6 and Transporting outrank its Mining Lv6. Never put Anubis on ore next to a workbench.
  • +30~50% Attack ties Prixter Lux for the biggest conversion bonus in the game.
  • Catch the Level 55 version — nothing scales with level except the relic table.

Running your own Palworld 1.0 server

Anubis is a Pal you farm repeatedly rather than catch once — for Bone, for Large Pal Souls and for condensing duplicates. On a dedicated Palworld 1.0 server the Anubis Dunes spawn is live whenever you are, and your crafting queues keep consuming the gunpowder chain while you are away. Full crossplay lets a group share the route, and one-click backups and automatic updates protect the stockpile.

Conclusion

Anubis is a Ground Pal found at Level 55 in the Anubis Dunes at coordinates -134, -94, at Level 68 – 72 on Desert Island and at Level 80 in the World Tree. Its Guardian of the Desert skill converts your damage to Ground for +30~50% Attack — tied with Prixter Lux for the biggest conversion bonus in the game — and it drops Bone at 3 – 5 (100%) and a guaranteed Large Pal Soul, two things that are genuinely hard to get elsewhere. At base it is Handiwork Lv6, Mining Lv6 and Transporting Lv4, and that breadth is the trap: Handiwork and Transporting both outrank Mining in the work priority order, so an Anubis will craft and haul before it mines. Use it as a crafter, or use Aegidron for ore instead. Bring Water or Grass, and wear heat resistance.
