Skill Fruit in Palworld 1.0: How to Get It & When to Use It
Skill Fruit is how you teach a Pal a move it would never learn on its own. Every Pal has a fixed skill ladder tied to its level, and if that ladder has no answer to a particular element, no amount of levelling will fix it. Skill Fruit does — permanently, in one use. There are over 100 types, each teaching a specific named skill, and knowing when not to use one matters as much as knowing where to find them.
What Skill Fruit Does
Skill Fruit is a consumable that permanently grants a Pal an additional active skill. Use one and the Pal keeps that move for good.
The skill taught is fixed per fruit type, not random. A "Grass Skill Fruit: Wind Cutter" always teaches Wind Cutter. That means you can target a specific move rather than gambling — which makes Skill Fruit far more useful than a random-outcome item would be.
Fruits exist across all nine elements — Neutral, Grass, Water, Fire, Electric, Ground, Ice, Dark and Dragon — with well over a hundred distinct types documented in total.

Fruit trees are region-specific, so the element you get depends on where you are looking. Hunting a Fire skill means going to volcanic zones, not sweeping the grasslands.
The Ancient Relic Recycler is the endgame route. Feed it Ancient Relics plus World Tree Holy Water and it returns ingots, cores, implants, schematics and Skill Fruit — which turns your relic pile into targeted skill upgrades.
Fishing is the passive route. A Fishing Pond at your base produces catches including Skill Fruit while you do something else.
The Skillfruit Orchard
The Skillfruit Orchard is a dedicated base structure holding 93 skill fruit varieties with defined drop rates — effectively a farm for the whole system. Its build cost is one of the largest in the game:

That Mythical Wood figure is the hard part. Mythical Wood comes only from Ancient Relics, at 1 – 3 per Decayed relic up to 9 – 11 per Glistening relic, all at a 100% rate. Two hundred wood is roughly twenty Glistening relics — or a great many Decayed ones.
The cheapest relic source is Wispaw at Level 11 – 12, which drops all five relic tiers despite being one of the weakest Pals in the game. Sekhmet (Lv 37 – 42) and Ophydia (Alpha Lv 69) also drop the full ladder.
At weight 8 per unit, 200 Mythical Wood is 1,600 inventory weight — sort out your Weight stat and Lightweight Ancient Armor before starting.
When Skill Fruit Is Actually Worth It
Here is the part most guides skip: Skill Fruit is for coverage, not damage.
A skill's power is only one term. Element matchup roughly doubles damage into a weakness and halves it into a resistance, and a skill matching its user's own element gets an extra 20%. So teaching a Pal an off-element move usually produces something weaker than the moves it already has.
Where Skill Fruit genuinely wins is filling a gap you cannot fill any other way. Two exist in Palworld 1.0's roster:
- Electric — the highest-power Electric skill among the new Pals is Thunder Rail at 600 (Puffolt). Nothing reaches 700.
- Ground — tops out at Rocket Arm, 600 (Dualith).
Every other element has a 700-power option, and Water and Dark have 800s. So if you need to hit a Water or Electric target hard, your roster has no top-tier answer, and Skill Fruit is one way to build one.
But there is a cheaper alternative. Two partner skills convert your own attack type outright:
- Prixter Lux — Scorpion Longwave: changes your attack type to Electric and adds 30–50% Attack.
- Univolt Cryst — Frigid Deity: changes your attack type to Ice and adds 5–20% Attack while mounted.
A party slot is often cheaper than a Skillfruit Orchard. Use Skill Fruit when you want a Pal to cover a matchup, and type-conversion partner skills when you want yourself to.
Practical tips
- The skill is fixed per fruit type — you can target a specific move rather than gambling.
- Fruit trees are region-specific. Hunt Fire fruits in volcanic zones, Ice in snow.
- Prefer skills that match the Pal's own element — the +20% same-element bonus is free.
- The Skillfruit Orchard needs 200 Mythical Wood. Farm relics from Wispaw at Level 11 – 12 first.
- For your own damage, partner-skill type conversion is cheaper than teaching a Pal an off-element move.
