How to Unlock the World Tree in Palworld 1.0 (Key Spheres & Panthalus)

Card explaining the two-part World Tree gate: eight Key Spheres, then the Panthalus quest.

The World Tree is Palworld 1.0's endgame — Level 75 – 80 Pals, Radiant Gems, the ancient technology tier and the final boss. Getting in is a two-part gate, and most guides only describe the second half. You need all eight Key Spheres from the eight tower bosses, and you need to catch Panthalus. Here is the complete sequence, now that it has settled.

The Gate, in Two Parts

PartWhat it requires
1. Key SpheresDefeat all eight tower bosses — each drops a Key Sphere. Completes the main mission "Gathering the Key Spheres."
2. PanthalusCollect 4 Echobones → craft the Echoing Flute → summon and catch Panthalus at the Deserted Islet → keep it in your party and use the World Tree terminal.

Both are required. Catching Panthalus without the Key Spheres does not open the door, and eight Key Spheres without Panthalus does not either.

Part 1: The Eight Key Spheres

Card listing all eight tower bosses and their levels, each of which drops a Key Sphere.

Each tower boss drops a Key Sphere when defeated. The eight, in level order:

BossLevelWeak toCoordinates
Zoe & Grizzbolt10Ground111, -431
Lily & Lyleen20Fire36, -311
Axel & Orserk30Ice or Ground-588, -518
Marcus & Faleris40Water556, 336
Victor & Shadowbeak50Dragon-149, 447
Saya & Selyne55Sakurajima
Bjorn & Bastigor60Feybreak
Auri & Shaolong68IceSunreach

That spans Palpagos, Feybreak and Sunreach — so the World Tree is gated on content from three separate regions, not just the 1.0 additions. If you skipped Sakurajima or Feybreak on a previous playthrough, you cannot skip them now.

The completion reward for the main mission "Gathering the Key Spheres" includes the Key Sphere of Sloth, and it is what opens the route forward.

Plan the tower run in level order. They can be fought in almost any sequence, but the 10-to-68 spread means your gear and Pals need to keep pace. The difficulty spike is at Victor & Shadowbeak, Level 50.

Part 2: The Panthalus Quest

Card listing the six steps of the Panthalus quest from Echobones to the World Tree terminal.

  1. Collect four Echobones. These are legendary-rarity key items scattered across the world — reported as the Marine, Silent, Seafoam and Tidewind Echobones, though guides differ on the exact names and coordinates.
  2. Craft the Echoing Flute from a schematic obtained from a researcher NPC, plus the four Echobones.
  3. Travel to the Deserted Islet.
  4. Play the flute to summon Panthalus, then win the fight. It is a timed encounter, and you target the crystal on its head.
  5. Catch it. Panthalus has 8,100 – 10,260 HP and 1,250 – 1,610 Defense at Level 80 — the toughest Pal in the update — so bring high-tier spheres. Sol (Capture Power 58) or Ancient (64), and get it into the red first.
  6. Keep Panthalus in your party and use the World Tree terminal to drop the barrier.

Panthalus is Water, so Electric attackers are your counter. Prixter Lux is the strongest Electric Pal in the 1.0 roster at 790 – 997 Attack, and its partner skill converts your own attacks to Electric with a 30 – 50% Attack boost.

Wear the Ring of Mercy (Technology Level 18) for this fight specifically. After collecting four Echobones and crafting a flute, killing Panthalus by accident is an expensive mistake.

What Waits Inside

Card describing what the World Tree contains, including the Level 80 final boss.

    Once inside:

  • Level 75 – 80 Pals, including most of the 1.0 roster's strongest — Shaolong, Dandilord, Aegidron, Celesdir Noct and the Cryst variants.
  • Radiant Gems for Awakening, and the Level 80 legacy Pal populations that drop them at 10 – 20 per kill at 100% — Mammorest, Wumpo Botan, Lyleen, Suzaku, Faleris and Orserk.
  • Ancient Relics across five tiers, feeding the Ancient Relic Recycler and the Mythical Wood economy.
  • World Tree Holy Water, which appears in 25 of the new Pals' drop tables.

And at the end, the final boss: Zanara & Astralym, a Level 80 duo with 420,000 combined HP that is completely typeless — there is no elemental weakness to exploit. That fight is won with raw damage, sustain and preparation rather than a clever matchup.

Practical tips

  • You need both halves. Eight Key Spheres and Panthalus. Neither alone opens the door.
  • The towers span Palpagos, Feybreak and Sunreach — three regions, not one.
  • Wear the Ring of Mercy for Panthalus. Killing it after the Echobone hunt means doing the summon again.
  • Bring Electric attackers to Panthalus; Prixter Lux can convert your own damage type.
  • The final boss is typeless with 420,000 HP. Bring sustain — Lyleen's 80 – 90% party heal is the strongest support skill available.

Running your own Palworld 1.0 server

Unlocking the World Tree is a long chain — eight tower bosses across three regions, four Echobones, a crafted flute and a boss capture. On a dedicated Palworld 1.0 server that progress is persistent and shared, so a group can chip away at towers on their own schedule instead of waiting for a host. Full crossplay means platform never blocks a friend from the run, and one-click backups and automatic updates protect a chain that takes real hours — including the v1.0.2 fix for Victor & Shadowbeak vanishing mid-fight.

Conclusion

The World Tree in Palworld 1.0 is gated on two things. First, all eight Key Spheres, one from each tower boss across Palpagos, Feybreak and Sunreach — completing the main mission "Gathering the Key Spheres." Second, the Panthalus quest: four Echobones, the Echoing Flute, then summoning and catching Panthalus at the Deserted Islet and using the World Tree terminal with it in your party. Inside are the Level 75 – 80 Pals, the Radiant Gem farms and the ancient economy — and at the end, Zanara & Astralym, a typeless Level 80 duo with 420,000 HP.
