How to Catch Lifmunk in Palworld (Location, Skills & Drops)

Lifmunk is the Pal that Lifmunk Effigies are named after, and the first thing worth saying is that it does not drop them. That single confusion sends new players hunting Lifmunks for hours in a game where the effigies are lying on the ground in plain sight. Beyond clearing that up, Lifmunk is a genuinely odd Pal: five work suitabilities, every one of them at Lv1, and a partner skill that puts a submachine gun on your head. Here is what it is actually for.

Where to Find Lifmunk

- Green zones, Palpagos Islands — Level 1 – 15. You will meet one within minutes of starting.
- Hillside Cavern and Isolated Island Cavern — Level 6 – 13.
- Pal Recruiters — Level 30 – 70.
A basic Pal Sphere is all you need. Lifmunk is rarity 1 and its Level 80 stats — HP 3,900 – 4,800, Attack 520 – 646 — confirm what the rarity says. There is no version of this Pal worth preparing for.
The Effigy Confusion
Lifmunk Effigies are a world collectible, not a drop. They are scattered across the Palpagos Islands as key items you pick up off the ground, and you offer them to the Statue of Power to permanently raise your Capture Power.
Killing Lifmunks produces none of them. The Pal and the collectible share a name and nothing else.
This matters because Capture Power is one of the highest-leverage upgrades in the game — the Statue is worth up to +7.5 Capture Power, permanent, applying to every sphere you ever throw. Time spent hunting the wrong thing is time not spent collecting the right one.
Worth knowing alongside it: there are 13 effigy types and they all feed the same statue, each unlocking a different permanent ability — Lifmunk → Capture Power, Lamball → Satiety Duration, Mimog → Movement Speed, and Relaxaurus → EXP Gain, which caps at just four offerings and is the best value per unit in the game.
Five Jobs, All at the Floor

Lifmunk covers five work suitabilities:
| Job | Level |
|---|---|
| Planting | Lv1 |
| Handiwork | Lv1 |
| Gathering | Lv1 |
| Lumbering | Lv1 |
| Medicine Production | Lv1 |
Five is a lot — Anubis has three, and most specialists have one. But every single one is Lv1, the floor of a scale that runs to Lv8.
So what is it good for? Precisely one thing: filling a gap on a very early base. Before you have caught anything specialised, a Lifmunk will do a little of whatever needs doing rather than standing idle. Level sets speed, not eligibility, so a Lv1 Pal can operate every structure a Lv8 Pal can — just slowly.
And there is a catch that arrives the moment your base grows. Palworld's work priority order is fixed, and a Pal with five jobs will always do the highest-priority one available. A Lifmunk on a mature base will plant and craft and never touch the trees, because Lumbering sits at priority 15, near the bottom. Generalists are drawn upward; specialists are what you want at the bottom of the list.
The honest recommendation: keep one for the first few hours, then replace it. A Ribbuny in the same slot is also a Lv1 worker, but it grants +1 Handiwork to every other Pal at the base — the same cost, a permanently better return.
Skill & Drops

Lifmunk Recoil is one of the more entertaining partner skills in the game: Lifmunk leaps onto your head and fires a submachine gun to follow up your own attacks.
It is genuinely useful in the opening hours, when your own weapons are a stone club and a crude bow and any additional damage source matters. It stops being relevant quickly — by the time you have a real firearm, a Lifmunk on your head is contributing rounding error — but for the first tower run it is more than nothing.
Its drops:
| Drop | Quantity | Rate |
|---|---|---|
| Wheat Seeds | 1 | 100% |
| Low Grade Medical Supplies | 1 | 20% |
The Wheat Seeds are the useful part. Wheat is the base of Cake, and Cake is the real gate on the Breeding Farm — so an early guaranteed seed source is worth more than it looks. A Wheat Plantation replaces it soon enough, but a 100% seed drop from a Level 1 Pal is a reasonable head start.
As an Alpha it drops Ancient Civilization Parts (1 – 2) and Precious Pelt (1 – 2).
How to Catch Lifmunk
- Throw a Pal Sphere. No preparation is required, and none is worth doing.
- Bring Fire if you want it down fast — Grass is weak to Fire — but at Level 1 – 15 anything works.
- Catch several early if you want condensing fodder; they are everywhere and cost nothing.
- Do not hunt them for effigies. Look on the ground instead.
Practical tips
- Lifmunk does not drop Lifmunk Effigies. They are world pickups — go collect them, do not farm the Pal.
- Five suitabilities, all Lv1. Useful for a week-one base, replaced quickly after that.
- On a mature base a five-job Pal chases high-priority work and ignores Lumbering and Mining entirely.
- Wheat Seeds at 100% is a genuine early-game head start toward Cake.
- Food intake 1 means keeping one costs nothing while it is still useful.
- Swap it for a Ribbuny when you can — same slot, but it upgrades everyone else's Handiwork.
Running your own Palworld 1.0 server
Lifmunk belongs to the part of Palworld where a shared world matters most — the opening hours, when a group is establishing a first base and nobody has anything specialised yet. A dedicated Palworld 1.0 server keeps that base producing between sessions, so early progress is not limited to when the host happens to be online. Full crossplay lets everyone join from any platform, and one-click backups and automatic updates protect a save from its first hour onward.
Conclusion
Lifmunk is a rarity-1 Grass Pal found in green zones at Level 1 – 15, catchable with a basic Pal Sphere. Its most important fact is a negative one: it does not drop Lifmunk Effigies — those are world collectibles you pick up off the ground and offer to the Statue of Power for permanent Capture Power. As a worker it has the widest job spread in the game at five suitabilities, and the shallowest, with every one at Lv1 — useful for filling gaps on a week-one base and largely pointless after that, since a five-job Pal always chases the highest-priority task available. Its Lifmunk Recoil skill mounts a submachine gun on your head, which matters for exactly as long as your own weapons are bad. Take the Wheat Seeds at 100%, then move on.
