Wildlife Sanctuaries in Palworld 1.0: What's Inside & How to Survive Them

Wildlife Sanctuaries are the three protected islands on the edge of the Palpagos map, and they contain Pals you genuinely cannot get anywhere else. They are also patrolled by Level 80 Drones, hunting in them raises your wanted level, and an unprepared visit ends badly. This guide covers what is in each one, which Palworld 1.0 Pals live there, and how to run a sanctuary trip without turning it into a fight you did not want.
The Three Sanctuaries
There are three Wildlife Sanctuaries, located on the periphery of the Palpagos Islands:
| Sanctuary | Pal levels |
|---|---|
| No. 1 Wildlife Sanctuary | around Level 20 – 25 |
| No. 2 Wildlife Sanctuary | up to Level 50 |
| No. 3 Wildlife Sanctuary | up to Level 50 |
Sanctuary No. 1 is approachable relatively early. Numbers 2 and 3 are a mid-to-late-game destination.
What's Inside

Sanctuaries host creatures unavailable elsewhere in the game world, including Eikthyrdeer Terra and Shadowbeak, among others. Rare subspecies and elemental variants concentrate here, which is the main reason to make the trip.
Several Pals added in Palworld 1.0 also spawn in sanctuary zones:
| Pal | Sanctuary zone | Level |
|---|---|---|
| Elgrove | Sanctuary 1 Forest | 24 – 26 |
| Lunaris | Sanctuary 1 Forest | 25 – 28 |
| Majex | sanctuary_2_volcano |
35 – 38 |
| Carnibora | sanctuary_3 desert |
45 – 48 |
Two of those are worth a dedicated trip. Lunaris carries one of the most useful partner skills in the game — spheres home in on Pals and carrying capacity increases by 300 – 600, which is six to twelve player Status Points' worth of Weight for free. Majex is the cheapest source of its Burn-detonation partner skill, and its volcano sanctuary population at Level 35 – 38 is far easier than the Level 75 – 77 World Tree version.
Sanctuary No. 1 is therefore an unusually good early destination: Elgrove and Lunaris both sit at Level 24 – 28, well within reach of a mid-game player.
The Risk: Level 80 Drones

Sanctuaries are protected, and the protection is real: Level 80 Drones patrol overhead.
That level figure is not a typo. Regardless of which sanctuary you are in — even No. 1, where the Pals are Level 20 – 25 — the drones are endgame-tier. They are not a fight you win at the level the local wildlife suggests.
Flying mounts are recommended specifically to minimise ground exposure and reduce detection risk. Among Palworld 1.0's roster, Eidrolon, Eidrolon Ignis, Shaolong, Roujay and Beakon Cryst are all rideable fliers.
Hunting inside a sanctuary also raises your wanted level — these are high-security zones and poaching there is treated accordingly.
One honest caveat: the community documentation on sanctuary mechanics is incomplete. The wiki page is marked as a stub, so some details of the wanted-level system and reward structure are not fully documented at this time. Treat anything more specific than the above with caution.
How to Run a Sanctuary Trip

- Bring a flying mount. Eidrolon or Shaolong. Ground travel is what gets you spotted.
- Land away from drone patrols. Minimise the time you spend exposed on foot.
- Target one Pal. Do not try to clear the island. Sanctuaries reward a surgical visit, not a sweep.
- Wear the Ring of Mercy (Technology Level 18). It prevents lethal damage, so you can chip your target into the red — where the capture HP factor peaks at 1.0 instead of 0.769 — without accidentally killing it.
- Leave immediately once you have the catch. Your wanted level follows you out.
Add Ability Glasses (Technology Level 34) if you care about IVs — checking a Pal's hidden Health, Attack and Defense potential on a 0 – 100 scale before you commit a sphere is worth more here than anywhere, because a second trip is expensive.
Practical tips
- Level 80 Drones patrol every sanctuary, including No. 1 where the Pals are Level 20 – 25. Do not judge the danger by the wildlife.
- Fly in and out. Ground exposure is the main detection risk.
- Sanctuary 1 is an early-game prize — Elgrove (Lv 24 – 26) and Lunaris (Lv 25 – 28) are both catchable well before the endgame.
- Lunaris is the best reason to go. Homing spheres plus +300 – 600 carrying capacity is a permanent quality-of-life upgrade.
- Sanctuary mechanics are only partly documented. Plan for the drones and the wanted level; treat finer details as unconfirmed.
Running your own Palworld 1.0 server
Sanctuary runs are short, surgical trips that fit neatly into a spare twenty minutes — provided the world is there when you have them. A dedicated Palworld 1.0 server keeps the map and its spawns live around the clock, so you can fly in for one Pal and log off. Full crossplay lets a group split the three sanctuaries between them, and one-click backups and automatic updates keep a hard-won Paldeck safe.
Conclusion
Palworld's three Wildlife Sanctuaries sit on the edge of the Palpagos Islands, running from Level 20 – 25 in No. 1 up to Level 50 in Nos. 2 and 3. They hold Pals available nowhere else — Eikthyrdeer Terra, Shadowbeak and a concentration of rare subspecies — plus four Palworld 1.0 additions: Elgrove, Lunaris, Majex and Carnibora. The catch is the Level 80 Drones patrolling every one of them and the wanted level you pick up for hunting there. Fly in, target one Pal, wear the Ring of Mercy, and leave. Sanctuary No. 1 is the best value trip in the game for a mid-game player, thanks to Lunaris.
