How to Catch Majex in Palworld (Location, Skills & Drops)
Majex is a Dark/Fire Pal added in Palworld's 1.0 update, and it is one of the more interesting partner-skill Pals in the game: it turns Burn from a slow damage-over-time tick into a persistent area hazard. It also has a rare double life, spawning both as a mid-game Pal around Level 35 and as a Level 75+ resident of the World Tree — so you can catch it early or late. Here is where to find it, how to bring it home, and what it drops.

Where to Find Majex

Majex has two documented wild populations, and the level gap between them is enormous:
- Volcano sanctuary (
sanctuary_2_volcano) — Level 35 – 38. This is the accessible population and the one you should target if you just want the Paldeck entry and the partner skill. - The World Tree (
worldtree_9_05_D) — Level 75 – 77. The endgame population, and the one that drops the good materials.
There is also a tribe boss variant, "Flickering Shadow Majex," if you want a fixed encounter to farm.
Which to hunt depends on what you want. The partner skill is identical at both levels, so if you only care about the Burn effect, take the Level 35 volcano version — it is far cheaper to catch. The Level 75 – 77 World Tree population is where Dark Radiant Gems and Ancient Relics come from, and those only appear on the Lv70+ drop table.
Note that the volcano sanctuary is a high-security zone, so expect a wanted level if you fight there.
How to Catch Majex
- Bring a Dragon and Water team. Majex is Dark/Fire, so Dragon attacks punish its Dark half and Water attacks punish its Fire half. A mixed squad closes it out fastest. Do not bring Grass or Neutral Pals.
- Pick the right population first. At Level 35 – 38 an Ultra or Legendary Sphere is plenty. At Level 75 – 77 you want Sol Spheres (Capture Power 58) or Ancient Spheres (64).
- Whittle its HP into the red. The capture formula scales with remaining health — a Pal at full HP is caught at roughly three-quarters efficiency, so chip it down before you throw anything expensive.
- Apply a status. Freeze, stun or sleep multiplies your capture chance, and a bear trap is stronger still.
- Come stocked. The World Tree population sits in a Level 75 – 80 biome, so bring endgame armor and biome-appropriate resistance gear alongside your spheres.
Skills & Stats

Majex's partner skill is the reason to own it. While it is in your party, attacking an enemy that is already afflicted with Burn makes that enemy erupt into flames, dealing continuous damage equal to 15~30% of your attack damage to anything that comes into contact with it.
That is a lingering area hazard rather than a one-off hit, which makes Majex genuinely different from other Burn payoff Pals. Pair it with Renjishi, whose Stage Combat skill makes your own attacks inflict Burn, and every enemy you touch becomes a walking fire trap. Against grouped enemies the two skills compound.
Its signature moves span both of its elements:
- Dark Whisp (600)
- Fire Ball (600)
- Volcanic Rain (450)
- Dark Laser (450)
- Flame Wall (250)
Its full active-skill progression runs Dark Shot (40), Spirit Fire (80), Dark Arrow (120), Flame Wall (250), Volcanic Rain (450), Dark Laser (450), Fire Ball (600) and Dark Whisp (600).

At Level 80, Majex's stat ranges land at:
- HP: 5,300 – 6,620
- Attack: 790 – 997
- Defense: 590 – 752
That is a respectable Attack figure on a fragile frame — Majex hits about as hard as Sekhmet or Solenne but has the lowest Defense of any World Tree resident in its bracket. Treat it as a support Pal you keep in the party for the partner skill rather than a frontline fighter.
At base it brings Handiwork Lv5, Kindling Lv4, Medicine Production Lv3 and Transporting Lv2 — a useful all-rounder for a workbench and forge rotation, though not a specialist at anything.
Majex hatches from a Large Dark Egg and its CombiRank is 1,010, which puts it comfortably in reach of mid-tier breeding pairs if you would rather hatch one than climb the World Tree.
Practical tips
- Catch the Level 35 – 38 volcano population if you only want the partner skill. It is the same skill for a fraction of the effort.
- Farm the Level 75 – 77 World Tree population for Dark Radiant Gems — it is one of only a handful of documented Dark gem sources in the game.
- Pair Majex with Renjishi so something is always Burning for it to detonate.
- Its Leather and Flame Organ drops are both 100%, so it doubles as a reliable bulk material farm at the lower level band.
- The Large Dark Egg route also hatches Venusa, Gildra and Wispaw, so a Dark breeding line pays off several times.
Running your own Palworld 1.0 server
Hunting a Pal that spawns at both Level 35 and Level 77 means two very different trips, and both are easier on a world that is always available. Conclusion
Majex is a support Pal with a genuinely distinctive partner skill: Burn-afflicted enemies you hit erupt into lingering flames for 15~30% of your attack damage. Catch the Level 35 – 38 volcano sanctuary population if you just want that effect, and farm the Level 75 – 77 World Tree population if you want Dark Radiant Gems and Ancient Relics. Bring Dragon and Water attackers to exploit both halves of its Dark/Fire typing, and pair it with Renjishi so there is always something burning.
