Palworld 1.0 Elemental Variants: Every Ignis, Cryst, Lux, Noct, Terra & Primo Pal

A large chunk of Palworld 1.0's new roster is not new Pals at all — it is elemental variants of Pals you already own, wearing a suffix like IgnisCryst or Noct. Of the 72 Pals the update added, 25 are variants and 47 are brand-new designs. Once you know what each suffix means you can read any variant's element straight off its name. This guide covers the full naming system, every variant in the game, and which ones are genuinely better than the Pal they are based on.

The Suffix System

Every variant suffix maps to exactly one element. This holds across all 25 variants without exception:

Suffix Element Variants in 1.0
Ignis Fire 5
Cryst Ice 7
Lux Electric 3
Noct Dark 3
Primo Neutral 4
Terra Ground 2
Botan Grass 1

The suffix tells you the element the variant gains. It does not always replace the base Pal's typing — plenty of variants end up dual-typed, keeping half of what the original had.

The practical consequence: you can predict any variant's weakness before you ever meet it. A Cryst variant has Ice in its typing, and Ice is weak to Fire. A Noct variant has Dark, and Dark is weak to Dragon. That is your capture squad decided from the name alone.

The breeding consequence: variants hatch from their base form's egg, not from an egg matching their new element. Petallia Ignis is a Fire Pal that comes out of a Huge Verdant Egg, because base Petallia is Grass.

Cryst — Ice (7 Pals)

The largest variant family in the update.

Variant Element Notes
Moldron Cryst Ice / Ground 850 – 1,075 Attack; Ice Overload gives +25–40% Ice damage to weak points
Univolt Cryst Ice Frigid Deity converts your attack type to Ice, +5–20% Attack while mounted
Smokie Cryst Dark / Ice Cryo Instincts: +1 Cooling to all other Base Pals
Beakon Cryst Ice Ice flying mount; drops the full five-tier Ancient Relic ladder
Elgrove Cryst Ice Freezes Soaked enemies in one strike
Pierdon Cryst Ice Cooling Lv6, and the party takes 15–30% less Dragon damage
Rayhound Cryst Ice Rideable with a double jump; +15–30% Defense to Ice Pals

Ice matters more in 1.0 than in any previous version, because Ice is what beats Dragon — and the update's strongest Pals are overwhelmingly Dragons. Owning a couple of Cryst variants is close to mandatory for the endgame.

Ignis — Fire (5 Pals)

Variant Element Notes
Eidrolon Ignis Dragon / Fire 880 – 1,114 Attack — third-highest in the update. Flying mount with a party Attack and speed boost
Knocklem Ignis Fire Iron Guardian Mode: +60–210% Attack and Defense. Mining Lv7, Transporting Lv7
Petallia Ignis Fire Kindling Lv4, Medicine Production Lv4. Hatches from a Huge Verdant Egg
Skutlass Ignis Water / Fire Volcano Island, Lv 40 – 44. Drops a Water Radiant Gem
Tanzee Ignis Fire Lv 10 – 12 with 27 spawn points per cycle — the easiest 1.0 Pal to farm in bulk

Eidrolon Ignis is the standout of the whole variant roster. It out-damages the base Eidrolon (850 – 1,075) and keeps the flying mount, which makes it a direct upgrade rather than a sidegrade.

Lux, Noct, Primo, Terra & Botan

Lux — Electric (3)

  • Solmora Lux (Water / Electric) — Generating Electricity Lv6, tied for the best in the update.
  • Prixter Lux (Electric / Ground) — 790 – 997 Attack, the highest of any Electric Pal in 1.0. Scorpion Longwave converts your attack type to Electric and adds 30–50% Attack.
  • Snock Lux (Electric / Ground) — dungeon-only spawn at Lv 74 – 76. Party takes 15–30% less Water damage and is immune to Soak.

Noct — Dark (3)

  • Celesdir Noct (Dark) — Blessing of Chaos: +40–80% Attack on your active Pal at the cost of a health drain. Lumbering Lv8.
  • Dualith Noct (Ground / Dark) — rideable, fires a Dark laser. Mining Lv6, Transporting Lv6.
  • Needoll Noct (Dark / Grass) — night-only spawn in Desert_orange_C at Lv 33 – 36.

Primo — Neutral (4)

  • Tetroise Primo (Neutral) — 890 – 1,142 Defense, and Stone-Chaser Archelon raises weapon and armor durability by 80–100%.
  • Starryon Primo (Neutral) — Gathering Lv7, the best in the update. Rideable with a Jump Power boost.
  • Sibelyx Primo (Neutral) — Farming Lv4, the best Farming rating among new Pals.
  • Gloopie Primo (Water / Neutral) — +15–30% Defense to Water Pals.

Terra — Ground (2)

  • Woolipop Terra — reduces Base Pal hunger depletion by 15–25% and occasionally drops Caramel Cotton Candy at the Ranch.
  • Polapup Terra (Ice / Ground) — rideable, with +80~160% Movement Speed while mounted on snow. Mining Lv4 and Cooling Lv4 at base. Lives in the desert (desertisland_3) at Lv 55 – 60 despite the polar name.

Botan — Grass (1)

  • Nitemary Botan — +15–30% Defense to Grass Pals. Variant Spawner at remainsIsland_1, Lv 50 – 54.

Which Variants Beat Their Base Form

Most variants are lateral moves — same shape, different element. These six are not:

  1. Eidrolon Ignis — higher Attack ceiling than base Eidrolon, same flying mount.
  2. Univolt Cryst — the Ice conversion is the cheapest answer to 1.0's Dragon-heavy endgame; nothing the base form does compares.
  3. Moldron Cryst — matches base Moldron's 850 – 1,075 Attack but with better Defense and an Ice typing that counters Dragons.
  4. Tetroise Primo — 890 – 1,142 Defense and a durability skill that roughly halves your repair trips.
  5. Celesdir Noct — the biggest sustained Attack buff in the game at +40–80%.
  6. Knocklem Ignis — the +60–210% burst window, plus Mining Lv7 and Transporting Lv7 at home.

The rest are worth catching for the Paldeck and for element coverage, but do not go out of your way.

Practical tips

  • Read the suffix, plan the counter. Cryst → bring Fire. Ignis → bring Water. Noct → bring Dragon. Lux → bring Ground. Primo → bring Dark.
  • Dual-typed variants can be attacked through either half. Smokie Cryst (Dark / Ice) folds to a mixed Dragon and Fire squad.
  • For breeding, target the base form's egg type. The variant's own element is irrelevant to which egg it comes from.
  • Four Cryst variants — Univolt, Elgrove, Rayhound and Beakon — share map cell worldtree_9_07_I at Lv 75 – 77. One trip catches all four.
  • Tanzee Ignis at Lv 10 – 12 with 27 spawn points is the best condensing fodder in the update if you want a four-star Fire Pal cheaply.

Running your own Palworld 1.0 server

Collecting 25 variants means trips to the World Tree, the Sky Islands, Volcano Island, the desert and a dungeon — and that is a lot of travel to fit around a host being online. A dedicated Palworld 1.0 server keeps the whole map live 24/7 so you can pick off a variant in a short session, and full crossplay lets your group split the list across platforms. One-click backups and automatic updates keep a completed Paldeck safe through every patch.

Conclusion

Palworld 1.0's 25 elemental variants follow one clean rule: Ignis is Fire, Cryst is Ice, Lux is Electric, Noct is Dark, Primo is Neutral, Terra is Ground and Botan is Grass. Learn that and you can read any variant's element — and therefore its weakness — off its name. The Cryst family is the most important because Ice counters the Dragons that dominate the 1.0 endgame, and the six variants genuinely worth hunting are Eidrolon IgnisUnivolt CrystMoldron CrystTetroise PrimoCelesdir Noct and Knocklem Ignis. And remember that variants hatch from their base form's egg, not from one matching their new element.
