How to Catch Dumud in Palworld (Location, Skills & Drops)

Dumud hero card showing the Ground and Water Pal Dumud, Paldeck #109, against an olive gradient.

Dumud produces High Quality Pal Oil at a Ranch — and that is a genuinely unusual thing to be able to automate. Pal Oil is normally a hunting material: you kill specific Pals for it, and when a recipe wants forty, you go and kill forty Pals' worth. A Dumud on a Ranch turns that into a building that runs while you are elsewhere. It also spawns from Level 1, which makes it one of the earliest automation upgrades available.

Where to Find Dumud

Where-to-find card listing Dumud's spawn zones from Level 1 upward.

  • Grass zonesLevel 1 – 10, and further populations up to Level 55.
  • Ravine Grotto — Level 14 – 19.
  • Volcano zones — Level 20 – 30.
  • Fishing PondLevel 31, a passive catch at your own base.
  • Various dungeons and Pal Recruiters from Level 14 to 70.

Dumud is about as available as a Pal gets. A Level 1 – 10 grass population means you can have Pal Oil automated in your first hours, and the Fishing Pond route means one may simply turn up at base without a trip.

Bring Grass or Electric attackers. Dumud is Ground / Water — weak to Grass through its Ground half and to Electric through its Water half. At the levels it appears, a Pal Sphere or Mega Sphere is enough.

Do not confuse it with Dumud Gild, its variant, which has a different partner skill and is Farming Lv4 — joint highest in the game alongside Sibelyx Primo.

It Ranches Pal Oil

Card explaining Dumud's High Quality Pal Oil ranch output.

Soil Improver makes Dumud produce High Quality Pal Oil at a Ranch.

Why that matters more than it sounds. Most Palworld materials fall into one of two groups: things you automate (ore, wood, crops) and things you hunt (organs, horns, oils). Pal Oil sits firmly in the second group — and when a mid-game recipe asks for it in quantity, the answer is normally a hunting trip.

Dumud moves it into the first group. Put one on a Ranch and Pal Oil accumulates the same way wool and eggs do, with no travel involved.

It also drops High Quality Pal Oil at 1 (100%) when killed, plus Raw Dumud x2 as food — but as with every Ranch producer, the building is where the volume is, not the kill.

A note on its Farming rating. Dumud is Farming Lv1 — exactly the minimum a Ranch requires, and the floor of the scale. It will work, just not quickly. If you later catch a Dumud Gild, its Farming Lv4 is four times the rating in the same slot.

And condense it. A Ranch Pal's output scales with its Partner Skill level, which condensing raises — 4, 8, 12 and 24 duplicates take it from Lv1 to Lv5, and the documented example (Mau, 10 gold at Lv1 versus 10 – 50 at Lv5) shows how large that gap can be. At rarity 4 with Level 1 – 10 spawns, Dumud duplicates are cheap.

One caution on staffing. Dumud has four suitabilities, and Transporting and Mining both outrank Farming in the work priority order. On a busy base it will haul and mine instead of ranching. Give your oil producer somewhere quiet — this is the same problem Beegarde has with its seven jobs.

Soil Improver in the Party

Card showing Dumud's Ground attack buff and Level 80 stats.

The other half of Soil Improver grants +15~30% Attack to Ground Pals in your party.

Be clear about what this is not. It is not a drop-rate booster — those give +40~80% more items from an element, and the Ground one is Vaelet, not Dumud. Dumud's skill raises damage, not loot.

As a damage buff it is reasonable but narrow: it only helps Ground Pals, and it does not stack. If you are running Anubis at 880 – 1,114 Attack, a Dumud in the party is worth a real amount. If your party is mixed, it is close to nothing.

    At Level 80:

  • HP: 4,900 – 6,100
  • Attack: 520 – 646
  • Defense: 620 – 791

The Attack is among the lowest documented here, level with Lifmunk and Lamball. Dumud is a production Pal that happens to carry a party buff, not a fighter.

    As an Alpha it drops Ancient Civilization Parts (3 – 4, 100%) and Precious Entrails (3 – 4, 100%).

How to Catch Dumud

  1. Bring Grass or Electric attackers — one for each half of its typing.
  2. Do not bring Fire or Ground Pals. Water beats Fire, Ground beats Electric.
  3. Take the Level 1 – 10 grass population — the earliest, and identical to every other.
  4. A Pal Sphere or Mega Sphere is sufficient at that level.
  5. Or build a Fishing Pond and let one arrive at Level 31 without a trip.
  6. Catch duplicates — condensing multiplies its Ranch output.

Practical tips

  • It automates Pal Oil, which is otherwise a hunting material. That is the whole reason to own one.
  • Farming Lv1 is the floor — it works, slowly. Dumud Gild at Farming Lv4 is the upgrade.
  • Four suitabilities means it gets distracted. Transporting and Mining both outrank Farming.
  • Soil Improver boosts Ground Pals' Attack, not their drops. The Ground drop booster is Vaelet.
  • Condense it — cheap at rarity 4, and Ranch output scales with Partner Skill level.
  • 520 – 646 Attack at Level 80. Never take it into a fight.

Running your own Palworld 1.0 server

Automating a material only pays off across the hours the world is actually running — a Ranch you visit twice a week produces twice a week. On a dedicated Palworld 1.0 server your Pal Oil accumulates around the clock, which is what turns a hunting material into a stocked chest. Full crossplay lets a group share one production base, and one-click backups and automatic updates protect a chain built to run unattended.

Conclusion

Dumud is a Ground / Water Pal found in grass zones from Level 1 – 10, in the Ravine Grotto at Level 14 – 19, in volcano zones at Level 20 – 30, and passively in a Fishing Pond at Level 31. Its Soil Improver skill makes it produce High Quality Pal Oil at a Ranch — moving a material that is normally hunted into the automated column, which is the entire case for owning one. Its Farming Lv1 is the bare minimum a Ranch accepts, so Dumud Gild at Farming Lv4 is a real upgrade if you find one, and its four work suitabilities mean Transporting and Mining will pull it off the Ranch on a busy base. The party half of its skill gives +15~30% Attack to Ground Pals — a damage buff, not a drop-rate bonus; that is Vaelet's job. At 520 – 646 Attack it is a producer, not a fighter.
