Crafting Station Work Speed in Palworld: The Lv6 Wall Nobody Mentions

Every crafting station in Palworld carries a work speed multiplier, and the spread is enormous: a High Quality Workbench gives +50% while the Ancient Furnace gives +1000% — twenty times as much. The game shows you neither figure. It also does not tell you that three stations refuse to work unless your Pal is rated Work Suitability Lv6 or better, which is the actual gate on the endgame tier — not the technology level you spent to unlock it.
Every Station's Work Speed
| Station | Tech | Work speed |
|---|---|---|
| Ancient Furnace | 66 | +1000% |
| Ancient Workbench | 67 | +700% |
| Ancient Kitchen | 70 | +500% |
| Advanced Sphere Assembly Line | 58 | +500% |
| Advanced Workshop | 62 | +500% |
| Advanced Weapon Assembly Line | 63 | +500% |
| Gigantic Furnace | 58 | +350% |
| Large-Scale Stone Oven | 49 | +350% |
| Sphere Assembly Line II | 35 | +300% |
| Production Assembly Line II | 42 | +300% |
| Weapon Assembly Line II | 47 | +300% |
| Electric Kitchen | 41 | +200% |
| Electric Furnace | 44 | +200% |
| Advanced Medicine Workbench | 61 | +200% |
| Ancient Material Synthesizer | 78 | +200% |
| Sphere Assembly Line | 27 | +100% |
| Production Assembly Line | 29 | +100% |
| Weapon Assembly Line | 32 | +100% |
| Electric Medicine Workbench | 43 | +100% |
| Refrigerated Crusher | 54 | +100% |
| Gold Coin Assembly Line | 73 | +100% |
| High Quality Workbench | 11 | +50% |
| Sphere Workbench | 14 | +50% |
| Weapon Workbench | 20 | +50% |
| Cooking Pot | 17 | +50% |
| Improved Furnace | 34 | +50% |
The Ancient Furnace is in a class of its own at +1000% — not merely the top of the ladder but nearly half again the Ancient Workbench's +700%, and ten times a first-tier assembly line. If you smelt in volume, that one building changes your base more than any other unlock in the game.
The Large-Scale Stone Oven at Technology 49 is the value pick of the middle game — +350%, the same as the Technology 58 Gigantic Furnace, and it lets multiple Pals cook together rather than one at a time.
The Lv6 Wall

Every station lists a required work suitability — the minimum rating a Pal needs before it will operate the building at all. For twenty-three of the twenty-six stations above, that requirement is Lv1: any Pal with the right job can use them.
Three stations require Lv6:
| Station | Tech | Requires |
|---|---|---|
| Ancient Furnace | 66 | Work Suitability Lv6 |
| Ancient Workbench | 67 | Work Suitability Lv6 |
| Ancient Kitchen | 70 | Work Suitability Lv6 |
This is the real gate on the ancient tier. You can spend the technology points, gather the materials and place the building — and if your best Handiwork Pal is Lv5, it will not work there. The building sits idle while a lower-tier bench next to it keeps producing.
And it explains why Applied Handbooks matter more than their +1 suggests. A handbook permanently raises one Pal's rating in one job by +1. Taking a Lv5 Handiwork Pal to Lv6 unlocks the +700% Ancient Workbench for it — a single consumable converting a Pal from unusable to running the second-fastest station in the game. That is a far larger effect than "+1" implies, and it is the strongest argument for spending 300 Dog Coin on one.
Check your roster before you build, not after. The three Lv8 specialists you already have clear Lv6 easily; the problem is bases staffed with generalists in the Lv4–Lv5 range, which is most bases.
The Ladder Is Not Monotonic

Work speed does not climb with technology level, and the exceptions are worth knowing before you spend points:
| Station | Tech | Work speed |
|---|---|---|
| Sphere Assembly Line II | 35 | +300% |
| Gold Coin Assembly Line | 73 | +100% |
| Ancient Material Synthesizer | 78 | +200% |
| Advanced Workshop | 62 | +500% |
A Technology 35 station triples a Technology 73 one. The Gold Coin Assembly Line and Ancient Material Synthesizer sit near the top of the tech tree at +100% and +200% — behind stations you unlocked thirty and forty levels earlier.
The reason is that these are not general crafting stations. They do specific jobs — minting currency, synthesising materials — and their throughput is balanced against what they produce rather than against the ladder. But the practical consequence still holds: do not assume a later station is a faster one, and do not tear down a Production Assembly Line II because something newer became available.
The clean progression is only within a family. Sphere Workbench +50% → Sphere Assembly Line +100% → Sphere Assembly Line II +300% → Advanced Sphere Assembly Line +500%. Same for weapons and production. Those four-step ladders are reliable; cross-family comparisons are not.
What This Means For Staffing

Work speed and suitability multiply. A station's bonus applies on top of what the Pal working it brings, so a fast station with a poor worker and a slow station with a great worker both underperform. The ancient tier demands both at once.
Budget the power alongside the Pals. The electricity cost of the ancient tier is steep — the Ancient Furnace draws 3,000 energy per second and the Ancient Workbench 2,000 — so these buildings need an Ancient Power Generator behind them as well as Lv6 staff. Placing one before either is ready gets you an expensive ornament.
The practical build order that follows from all of this:
- Climb within a family rather than chasing new families. +50% → +100% → +300% → +500% is the reliable path.
- Take the Large-Scale Stone Oven at Technology 49 — +350% and multi-Pal cooking, well before anything comparable.
- Audit your roster for Lv6 before unlocking the ancient tier, in Kindling for the furnace and Handiwork for the workbench.
- Spend an Applied Handbook to cross Lv5 → Lv6 if that is what stands between you and a +700% station.
- Build the power first. 3,000 per second is not something you retrofit.
Practical tips
- Ancient Furnace is +1000% — ten times a first-tier assembly line.
- Only three stations require Lv6 suitability: Ancient Furnace, Workbench and Kitchen.
- An Applied Handbook's +1 can cross that wall and unlock a +700% station for a Lv5 Pal.
- Technology level does not predict speed — a Tech 35 line triples a Tech 73 one.
- The Large-Scale Stone Oven at Tech 49 gives +350% and lets several Pals cook at once.
- Ancient stations draw 2,000–3,000 energy per second. Build the generator first.
Running your own Palworld 1.0 server
Work speed only pays off while the station is actually running, which on a single-player save means only while you are watching it. On a dedicated Palworld 1.0 server your Ancient Furnace keeps smelting at +1000% around the clock, so the difference between a +100% station and a +1000% one compounds overnight instead of over an evening. Full crossplay lets a group pool the Lv6 Pals these buildings need, and one-click backups protect a base that took real planning to staff.
Conclusion
Palworld's crafting stations carry work speed bonuses from +50% to +1000%, and the game displays none of them. The Ancient Furnace at +1000% leads, ahead of the Ancient Workbench (+700%) and a +500% band containing the Ancient Kitchen and the three Advanced assembly lines. Two things are worth knowing beyond the ranking. First, the ladder is not monotonic — the Technology 35 Sphere Assembly Line II at +300% beats the Technology 73 Gold Coin Assembly Line at +100% — so climb within a family rather than assuming newer is faster. Second, and more important, the Ancient Furnace, Ancient Workbench and Ancient Kitchen are the only three stations requiring Work Suitability Lv6; everything else needs Lv1. That requirement, not the technology cost, is what actually gates the endgame tier — and it is why a single Applied Handbook's +1 suitability can be worth more than any building upgrade below it.
