Base Electricity in Palworld: Every Generator and What Actually Drains It

    Palworld tells you a station "requires electricity" and leaves you to work out the rest. It does not show you that a Crude Oil Extractor draws 3,000 energy per second while an Ancient Turret draws 10, or that the Ancient Power Generator produces at twenty times the base rate while the Human-Powered Generator produces at a fifth. Those numbers are the whole of base power planning, and here they all are.

    The rate column is the one to read. Storage is the buffer a generator holds; rate is how fast it fills. The Ancient Power Generator at ×20 is not merely the next tier — it is nearly seven times the Large Power Generator's ×3, which is why endgame bases stall until Technology 75.

 

    The Human-Powered Generator is a deliberate bad deal, with a catch. At ×0.2 it produces a fifth of the baseline, and the game says so directly: "The efficiency is low, and the Pals working here will experience a decrease in SAN value"SAN −0.3, the steepest drain on any building here. But it finishes the sentence with "…but they will gain experience points." It is an XP machine that happens to make electricity, not a power solution. Use it to level Pals early, not to run a base.

 

    The Accumulator generates nothing. At Technology 37 it stores 1,000,000 — the same capacity as a Large Power Generator's buffer — and exists purely to carry surplus across quiet periods. On a base that runs unattended overnight, that buffer is the difference between waking up to finished production and waking up to a stalled queue.

    The two oil extractors are the largest draws in the game, and they arrive at Technology 50 and 51 — well before the Large Power Generator's ×3 rate is comfortable and twenty-five levels before the Ancient one. A single High-Pressure Crude Oil Extractor at 3,000/s costs as much power as fifteen first-tier assembly lines. If your base browns out shortly after you unlock oil, that is why.

 

    Note that defences draw power too. The Mounted Missile Launcher at 1,000/s is as expensive as an Advanced Workshop, which is easy to forget when you are laying out base defences. The Ancient Turret, by contrast, costs 10 — a hundred-fold difference between two defensive structures.

 

The Cheap Consumers

    The assembly-line ladder is clean: 200 at the first tier, 400 at the second, 1,000 at Advanced. Each step up roughly doubles the draw, so upgrading three lines from tier one to tier two adds 600 energy per second to your base — the same draw as two Refrigerated Crushers.

 

    The Electric Heater and Cooler are cheap but conditional. Both cost 100/s and both need a Pal of the right element to function — the Heater requires a Fire Pal, the Cooler requires an Ice Pal. Power alone will not run them, which catches people out on a base that has electricity but the wrong roster.

 

    The Gold Coin Assembly Line at 200/s is the bargain on this list, given it converts materials into currency, and it sits at Technology 73 alongside far hungrier neighbours.

 

Planning a Base That Holds

    Rule one: build oil last. The Crude Oil Extractor at Technology 50 draws 2,000/s and the High-Pressure version at 51 draws 3,000/s — together 5,000 per second, which is more than every assembly line in a typical base put together. Get the rest of your production stable first, then add oil, then expect to need a Large Power Generator immediately.

 

    Rule two: build the Accumulator before you need it. At Technology 37 it is cheap — Ingot ×50, Electric Organ ×20, Cryogenic Coolant ×5 and Corrosive Solvent — and it banks 1,000,000. Its value is not peak capacity but smoothing: a base that spikes above its generation for a few minutes stays running instead of stalling.

 

    Staff the generators properly. Power generation is a work suitability, and Dynamoff and Solmora Lux both sit at Generating Electricity Lv6 — the highest available — so a generator with the wrong Pal on it under-delivers regardless of its tier.

 

    And remember what electricity does not solve. The Ancient Kitchen and the electric heaters need power and a suitable Pal; the comfort meters — SAN, hunger and health — are a separate system entirely, and several of these buildings actively drain SAN while running. The Human-Powered Generator's −0.3 is the worst offender in the game.

  • The two oil extractors draw 2,000 and 3,000 per second — the biggest loads in the game.
  • Assembly lines double each tier: 200 → 400 → 1,000.
  • The Accumulator stores 1,000,000 and generates nothing. Build it at Tech 37 anyway.
  • The Electric Heater needs a Fire Pal; the Cooler needs an Ice Pal. Power is not enough.
  • The Human-Powered Generator is an XP machine at ×0.2 efficiency, not a power source.
