Type Converters in Palworld: All 24 Pals That Re-Type Your Damage

Element matchup is the biggest damage multiplier in Palworld — roughly 2× into a weakness and 0.5× into a resistance, a fourfold swing. The problem is that your weapon has a fixed damage type and swapping loadouts for every fight is tedious. Type converters solve that: twenty-four Pals whose partner skills change your attack type outright. One party slot replaces an entire gear swap. Two things about them are widely misunderstood — seven of them do not require riding at all, and the attack bonus is not a random roll but a ladder set by the Pal's partner skill level.

| Dragon | Chillet | +5~20% | Ground mount |
Every element has a converter except Neutral — and Neutral is the one element you would never want to convert into, since it has no offensive advantage against anything.
The column that matters most is the last one. Seventeen converters work while you ride the Pal; the other seven work when you activate the partner skill, with no mount involved. That distinction decides whether a converter fits the fight you are actually in.
Mounted vs Activated

The seven activated converters are the ones to know about: Wixen (Fire), Wixen Noct (Dark), Finsider (Water), Icelyn (Ice), Elgrove (Grass), Anubis (Ground) and Prixter Lux (Electric).
| Mounted converters | Activated converters | |
|---|---|---|
| Count | 17 | 7 |
| Bonus | +5~20% (or +10~40%) | +30~50% |
| You are | riding the Pal | on foot, free to move and dodge |
| Travel | 8 fly, 3 swim, 6 run | none |
Activated converters give roughly double the Attack bonus and leave you on foot. For a stand-up fight — a tower boss, a raid, anything where you want to dodge — that is simply the better tool. The mounted converters win on travel: eight of them fly, which means the conversion is free on a trip you were making anyway.
A practical split: carry a flying mount converter for the element you travel toward most, and an activated converter for the element you fight most. They are not competing for the same job.
One caveat on the activated set. Six of the seven are genuinely hard Pals — Anubis, Elgrove, Icelyn, Wixen Noct and Prixter Lux are all late catches. The mounted converters are what you will actually have in the mid game.
What Drives the Bonus
"+5~20% Attack" looks like a roll. It is not. The figure is fixed by the Pal's partner skill level, and there are three ladders depending on which tier the converter sits in:
| Partner Skill | +5~20% tier | +10~40% tier | +30~50% tier |
|---|---|---|---|
| Lv1 (no stars) | +5% | +10% | +30% |
| Lv2 (★) | +7% | +14% | +35% |
| Lv3 (★★) | +10% | +20% | +40% |
| Lv4 (★★★) | +14% | +28% | +45% |
| Lv5 (★★★★) | +20% | +40% | +50% |
Partner skill level is raised by condensing — one level per star, capping at Lv5 on a four-star Pal for 48 duplicates. So an uncondensed mount converter gives +5% and a fully condensed one gives +20%: a four-fold difference from the same Pal.
Note how the tiers converge and diverge. The +30~50% tier only improves by two-thirds across the whole ladder, while the +5~20% tier quadruples. An uncondensed Anubis at +30% still beats a fully condensed Gildane at +20% — but the gap between them shrinks the more you condense, and condensing a common mount converter is far cheaper than condensing a Level 55 Anubis.
That reframes where to spend duplicates. Condense the mount converter whose element you use most; leave the activated ones at whatever star level you happen to catch them at, because their ladder pays the least for the effort.
Which Converter for Which Target

Using Palworld's type chain — Neutral → Dark → Dragon → Ice → Fire → Water → Electric → Ground → Grass → Fire — each element counters specific targets:
| Your converted element | Counters | Best mount | Best on foot |
|---|---|---|---|
| Fire | Grass and Ice | Ragnahawk (flies) | Wixen |
| Water | Fire | Azurobe | Finsider |
| Ice | Dragon | Beakon Cryst (flies) | Icelyn |
| Electric | Water | Beakon (flies) | Prixter Lux |
| Ground | Electric | Gildane | Anubis |
| Grass | Ground | Quivern Botan (flies) | Elgrove |
| Dark | Neutral | Helzephyr (flies) | Wixen Noct |
| Dragon | Dark | Chillet — the only one | none |
Fire is the most valuable element to convert into, because it is the only one in the chain that counters two things. One Ragnahawk covers both Grass and Ice targets.
Dragon is the most situational but the highest-stakes. Dragon counters Dark, and Palworld's Dark targets include Victor & Shadowbeak — the Level 50 tower boss and the game's difficulty spike — and Bellanoir, which has the highest documented Attack ceiling at 1,000 – 1,270. Chillet is the only Dragon converter in the game, which makes it a mandatory catch rather than an optional one.
Pairing Converters With the Level 80 Farms

This is where converters earn their slot. Palworld's seventeen confirmed Level 80 World Tree farm targets — the ones dropping Radiant Gems at 10 – 20 per kill at 100% — sort neatly by element:
| Targets | Element | Convert to | Ride |
|---|---|---|---|
| Mammorest, Wumpo Botan, Lyleen, Broncherry, Mossanda | Grass | Fire | Ragnahawk or Wixen |
| Reindrix, Chillet | Ice | Fire | Ragnahawk or Wixen |
| Suzaku, Faleris, Ragnahawk | Fire | Water | Azurobe or Finsider |
| Univolt, Beakon | Electric | Ground | Gildane or Anubis |
| Orserk, Jormuntide, Astegon, Quivern | Dragon | Ice | Beakon Cryst or Icelyn |
| Azurobe | Water | Electric | Beakon or Prixter Lux |
| Kingpaca | Neutral | Dark | Helzephyr or Wixen Noct |
Fire alone covers seven of the seventeen. Ice covers four more. Between those two conversions you can run eleven of the seventeen best farms in the game at double damage — and unlike the older reading of this system, there is now a converter for every single one of the seventeen, Kingpaca included.
Since element advantage roughly halves your clear time on these Level 80 health pools — Mammorest carries 6,900 – 8,700 HP — that is a direct doubling of your gems and relics per hour.
Two more party members worth carrying on any of these circuits:
- Tetroise Primo — raises weapon and armor durability by 80~100%, so the trip does not end in a repair run.
- Faleris — while in party, Ice Pals drop 40~80% more items, which stacks with the Ice targets above.
Practical tips
- Twenty-four Pals convert your attack type — every element except Neutral, which you would never want anyway.
- Seven work without riding and give +30~50%: Wixen, Wixen Noct, Finsider, Icelyn, Elgrove, Anubis and Prixter Lux.
- The bonus is a condensing ladder, not a roll — +5% uncondensed, +20% at four stars for the mount tier.
- Fire is the best element to convert into — it counters both Grass and Ice, covering seven Level 80 farms.
- Eight converters fly, so the conversion is free on a trip you were making anyway.
- Chillet is the only Dragon converter — take it to Shadowbeak and Bellanoir.
Running your own Palworld 1.0 server
Converters are party utility you keep for the whole run, and the farming circuits they enable are exactly the repeatable content a persistent world suits. A dedicated Palworld 1.0 server keeps World Tree spawns live around the clock and your Relic Recycler processing hauls while you are offline, so a converter-led circuit turns into ingots, cores and Skill Fruit on its own. Full crossplay lets a group split the routes, and one-click backups protect the result.
Conclusion
Palworld has twenty-four type converters, covering every element except Neutral. They split into two groups that do different jobs: seventeen mounted converters at +5~20% (or +10~40% for the Frostallion pair) that convert while you ride, eight of which fly; and seven activated converters at +30~50% — Wixen, Wixen Noct, Finsider, Icelyn, Elgrove, Anubis and Prixter Lux — that work on foot, which is what you want in a fight you have to dodge through. The bonus is not a range but a ladder set by partner skill level, so condensing a mount converter quadruples it from +5% to +20%. Since element matchup is worth roughly 2× damage, one converter in one party slot beats most weapon upgrades. Fire is the element to convert into — it counters both Grass and Ice and covers seven of the seventeen Level 80 farms — while Chillet remains the only Dragon converter, and therefore the answer to Shadowbeak and Bellanoir.
