How to Catch Polapup Terra in Palworld (Location, Skills & Drops)
Polapup Terra is the Terra variant of Polapup added in Palworld's 1.0 update — an Ice/Ground Pal that trades its base form's pure Ice typing for a desert-dwelling ground identity. It is also a rideable mount with an unusual, very specific speed bonus, and one of the few Pals in the game you can fish out of a pond. Here is where to find it, how to catch it, and what it is actually good for.

Where to Find Polapup Terra

Polapup Terra has two very different acquisition routes:
- Desert island region (
desertisland_3) — Level 55 – 60, the standard wild population. This is the same region that hosts Woolipop Terra, so one trip can net you both Terra variants. - Large Fishing Pond — appears as a "Big" catch at a 3.66% rate. An unusual route, and a slow one, but it works if you happen to be fishing anyway.
There is also a boss variant, "Star of the Dunes Polapup Terra," for a fixed encounter.
The name is the joke here: a Pal called Polapup whose Terra variant lives in the desert. Do not waste time sweeping snow biomes for it — the wild population is in the sand.
How to Catch Polapup Terra
- Bring Fire and Grass attackers. Polapup Terra is Ice/Ground, so Fire punishes its Ice half and Grass punishes its Ground half. A mixed squad brings it down fastest. Avoid Ice and Electric.
- Whittle its HP into the red. At Level 55 – 60 it is not fragile, and the capture formula scales heavily with remaining health — a Pal at full HP is caught at roughly three-quarters efficiency.
- Use Ultra or Legendary Spheres. At this level band you do not need Sol or Ancient Spheres, but anything below Ultra will bounce.
- Apply a status if you can. Freeze, stun or sleep multiplies your capture chance on top of everything else.
- Combine the trip with Woolipop Terra. Both live in
desertisland_3at overlapping levels, and Woolipop Terra's hunger-reduction skill is one of the most useful base buffs in the update.
Skills & Stats

Polapup Terra's partner skill makes it a rideable mount with +80~160% Movement Speed while mounted on snow, plus the ability to slide quickly down slopes.
Be clear-eyed about that conditional. It is one of the largest movement bonuses in the game, but it only applies on snow — and the Pal itself lives in the desert. As a general-purpose mount it is unremarkable; in the frozen zones it is genuinely fast, and the slope-sliding is useful for descending mountains without burning stamina on a glider.
Its signature moves cover both elements:
- Rocky Impact (600)
- Diamond Rain (600)
- Sand Twister (500)
- Blizzard Spike (450)
- Rockburst (300)
The full progression runs Ice Missile (40) at Lv1, Stone Blast (80) at Lv7, Iceberg (120) at Lv15, Rockburst (300) at Lv22, Blizzard Spike (450) at Lv30, Sand Twister (500) at Lv40, Rocky Impact (600) at Lv50 and Diamond Rain (600) at Lv70.
That is genuinely broad coverage — few Pals carry two 600-power moves in two different elements, which makes Polapup Terra flexible against mixed spawn tables.

At Level 80, Polapup Terra's stat ranges land at:
- HP: 4,700 – 5,840
- Attack: 730 – 919
- Defense: 710 – 908
That is a solidly balanced statline — nothing top-tier, but no glaring weakness either, and its Defense is better than several higher-profile World Tree Pals.
At base it brings Mining Lv4 and Cooling Lv4, a useful pairing for a mining outpost that also needs a refrigeration line running. It will not out-produce Aegidron at Mining Lv8, but covering two jobs at Lv4 makes it a reasonable generalist.
Polapup Terra hatches from a Large Frozen Egg with a CombiRank of 1,100 — the same egg that produces Pierdon Cryst and Univolt Cryst, so an Ice breeding line pays off three times over.
Practical tips
- Hunt it in the desert, not the snow. The Terra variant lives in
desertisland_3despite its polar-sounding name.- Combine the trip with Woolipop Terra, which shares the region and grants a base-wide 15–25% hunger reduction.
- Its speed bonus is snow-only. Keep it saddled for frozen-biome travel and use a flier everywhere else.
- Leather and Aquatic Pal Fluids both drop at 100%, making it a dependable bulk material farm.
- The Large Frozen Egg route also hatches Pierdon Cryst and Univolt Cryst — the latter is one of the best Dragon counters in the game.
Running your own Palworld 1.0 server
Chasing variants across the desert, the sky islands and the World Tree adds up to a lot of travel, and it goes much better on a world that does not vanish when the host logs off. A hosted Palworld 1.0 server keeps your map, bases and boss spawns available around the clock, supports full crossplay so friends on any platform can split the hunting list, and handles one-click backups and automatic updates so your Paldeck survives every patch.
Conclusion
Polapup Terra is the desert-dwelling Ice/Ground variant of Polapup, found at Level 55 – 60 in desertisland_3 or fished out of a Large Fishing Pond at 3.66%. Its rideable partner skill grants a huge 80~160% Movement Speed boost — but only on snow — and its real strengths are a balanced Level 80 statline, two 600-power moves in different elements, and a tidy Mining Lv4 / Cooling Lv4 work pairing. Bring Fire and Grass attackers, and pick up Woolipop Terra while you are in the region.
