How to Catch Bastigor in Palworld (Location, Skills & Drops)

Bastigor is the only Cooling Lv8 Pal in Palworld — alone at the ceiling of its category, with Frostallion a level behind. Most players meet it as Bjorn & Bastigor, the Level 60 tower boss, and assume that beating the tower is the only way to own one. It is not: there is a wild World Tree population. And there is a trap waiting for anyone who puts one on a cooler, which this guide covers, because it is the reason people report their Lv8 Bastigor "doing nothing".

Where to Find Bastigor

There are two routes, and most guides only mention the first:
- Bjorn & Bastigor — the Level 60 tower boss, part of the Feybreak tower line. This is where the Pal is introduced.
- The World Tree — a wild population at Level 75 – 77, and a Level 80 group in the World Tree Aura zone.
The World Tree population is the practical route for most players, because by the time you are farming there you have the gear for it, and a wild catch does not depend on a boss encounter. It also puts Bastigor on the same trip as the rest of your World Tree farming rather than requiring a dedicated tower run.
It also hatches from a Huge Frozen Egg at CombiRank 50 — a very low CombiRank, which makes breeding an easy route to a second one.
Bring Fire. Ice is weak to Fire — Blazamut at 850 – 1,075 Attack or Renjishi at Kindling Lv8. And wear cold-resistance gear for the northern route.
The Only Cooling Lv8 — and the Trap

Bastigor covers three jobs:
| Job | Level | Rank |
|---|---|---|
| Cooling | Lv8 | The only Pal at the ceiling |
| Lumbering | Lv6 | Behind Celesdir Noct (Lv8) and the Lv7 pair |
| Mining | Lv5 | Mid-table |
Here is the trap, and it is the sharpest example of it in the game.
Palworld runs a fixed work priority order. Cooling sits at priority 19 — dead last. Bastigor's other two jobs sit at Lumbering 15 and Mining 14, and both outrank Cooling.
So a Bastigor placed on a base that also has trees or ore will log and mine, and never touch the cooler. The best Cooling Pal in Palworld will ignore the one job it is best at, because the game hands it something higher on the list first.
The fix:
- Put Bastigor on a base with no lumbering and no mining available. That is the only way to guarantee it cools.
- Or use Frostallion instead — Cooling Lv7, one level lower, but with no second suitability at all, so it cannot be distracted. On a mixed base, a Lv7 Pal that actually works beats a Lv8 Pal that wanders off.
That second option is the more useful recommendation for most bases. Cooling is what keeps your Egg Incubator and refrigeration running, and a breeding operation that quietly stalls because your cooler is out chopping wood is a genuinely common failure.
Pair either with a Smokie Cryst, whose partner skill grants +1 Cooling to all other Base Pals.
Drops & Stats

| Drop | Quantity | Rate |
|---|---|---|
| Ice Organ | 2 – 5 | 100% |
| World Tree Holy Water | 2 – 4 | 75% |
| Leather | 2 – 3 | 100% |
| Ice Radiant Gem | 1 – 3 | 50% |
| Decayed Ancient Relic | 1 – 10 | 10% |
| Dormant Ancient Relic | 1 – 5 | 5% |
| Gorgeous Ancient Relic | 1 – 3 | 3.33% |
| Glowing Ancient Relic | 1 – 2 | 2.5% |
| Glistening Ancient Relic | 1 | 2% |
The World Tree Holy Water at 75% is the quietly valuable line. The Ancient Relic Recycler consumes Holy Water alongside relics, and a common complaint is having a relic pile you cannot process. Bastigor drops both halves of that recipe from the same kill — relics across the full five-tier ladder, and 2 – 4 Holy Water at 75%.
Note that its relic rates are the standard ladder (10% / 5% / 3.33% / 2.5% / 2%), not the elevated guaranteed rates you get from Suzaku or a Level 80 Blazamut. Bastigor is a convenient relic source on a route you were already running, not a dedicated relic farm.
At Level 80:
- HP: 6,500 – 8,180 — joint highest documented here, level with Frostallion
- Attack: 880 – 1,114
- Defense: 770 – 986
Blizzard Crash makes it a mount that fights with an Ice hammer — straightforward, and useful in a 1.0 endgame where Ice is the counter to a Dragon-heavy roster. It does not convert your damage type the way Frostallion's Icy Steed does, so as a combat mount Frostallion remains the stronger pick.
How to Catch Bastigor
- Bring Fire attackers. Ice is weak to Fire.
- Wear cold-resistance gear for the northern and World Tree routes.
- Do not bring Grass or Ground Pals. Ice beats both.
- Take the World Tree population at Level 75 – 77 rather than waiting on the tower.
- Sol or Ancient Spheres, and get it into the red first — the HP factor runs 0.769 to 1.0.
- Breed the second one. CombiRank 50 from a Huge Frozen Egg is about as cheap as duplicates get.
Practical tips
- The only Cooling Lv8 in the game — and the hardest to actually get working.
- Cooling is priority 19, last. Its own Lumbering (15) and Mining (14) both outrank it.
- Give it a base with no trees and no ore, or use Frostallion (Cooling Lv7, single job) instead.
- World Tree Holy Water at 2 – 4 (75%) plus relics — both Recycler inputs from one kill.
- CombiRank 50 makes breeding trivially cheap once you own one.
- Add a Smokie Cryst for +1 Cooling across the whole base.
Running your own Palworld 1.0 server
Cooling is infrastructure — it keeps incubators and refrigeration running, and it only pays off across the hours you are not watching. On a dedicated Palworld 1.0 server your eggs keep incubating and your World Tree route stays live around the clock, so a properly staffed cooling base actually compounds. Full crossplay lets a group split the tower line and the World Tree between them, and one-click backups and automatic updates protect a breeding operation that takes real time to set up.
Conclusion
Bastigor is an Ice Pal available two ways — as Bjorn & Bastigor, the Level 60 tower boss, and as a wild World Tree population at Level 75 – 77 plus a Level 80 group. It is the only Cooling Lv8 Pal in the game, and also the clearest illustration of Palworld's priority trap: Cooling is priority 19, dead last, while Bastigor's own Lumbering (15) and Mining (14) both outrank it — so on a mixed base it will log and mine and never cool. Either isolate it, or use Frostallion at Cooling Lv7 with no second job. It drops Ice Organ (2 – 5, 100%) and World Tree Holy Water (2 – 4, 75%) alongside the full relic ladder, which makes it a one-kill source of both Recycler inputs. Bring Fire, wear cold resistance, and breed the second at CombiRank 50.
