Dungeons, Enemy Camps or Salvage in Palworld: What Each One Actually Drops

Palworld has three activities you can run over and over for loot — dungeons, enemy camps and ocean salvage. They look interchangeable, because all three pay out the same four things: a Pal Soul, a key, a sphere and medical supplies. They are not. The tiers differ, the gold differs, and only one of the three drops Technical Manuals — which quietly makes it a technology-point source rather than just a loot run.
The Same Four Things, at Different Tiers

Comparing the first-tier instance of each — a Grass01 dungeon, a Grass01 enemy camp and Salvage Rank 1:
| Drop | Dungeon | Enemy Camp | Salvage |
|---|---|---|---|
| Small Pal Soul | 42.4% | 31.0% | 25.9% |
| Key | Copper — 17.0% | Silver — 12.4% | Silver — 12.9% |
| Sphere | Mega — 17.0% | Giga — 12.4% | Hyper — 6.5%, plus Giga at 8.7% |
| Low Grade Medical Supplies | 8.5% | 6.2% | — |
Dungeons pay volume; salvage pays quality. A dungeon gives you a Small Pal Soul 42.4% of the time — the best rate of the three — and a Mega Sphere at 17%. Salvage gives you a soul only a quarter of the time, but the sphere it hands over is a Hyper Sphere, two tiers up.
The key tier tracks the same pattern. Dungeons give Copper Keys, camps and salvage give Silver Keys — and since key tier gates which chests you can open, that is a real difference in what the run is worth beyond the immediate drop.
The medical row needs one clarification. Dungeons and camps drop Low Grade Medical Supplies; salvage does not. Salvage drops Low Quality Recovery Meds at 6.5% instead — a different item on a different healing line, so you are not short of healing from salvage, you are just getting the other kind.
A caveat on scope. These are the entry-tier tables. Higher dungeon regions, higher camp tiers and higher salvage ranks all shift upward, so read this as how the three compare at the same stage, not as fixed values for every run.
Where They Actually Differ

The shared spine is not the reason to choose one. These are:
Enemy camps pay cash in large lumps. A camp has an 18.6% chance of 2,000 – 2,500 Gold Coins — a single, meaningful payout. If you are saving for something specific, camps convert effort into gold in the fewest runs.
Salvage pays cash constantly, in smaller bands. Its gold entries fire at far higher rates than the camps' single band, but in the 1,000 – 1,500 range rather than 2,000 – 2,500. Steadier income, smaller lumps.
Salvage is the only one of the three that drops Technical Manuals. Both Advanced Technical Manual and Ancient Technical Manual appear at 1.294% each. That is the finding worth acting on, because Technical Manuals are technology points — and Ancient Technology Points are the scarcer of Palworld's two research currencies.
So the three answer different questions:
- Short of Pal Souls? Run dungeons. 42.4% is the best rate available.
- Short of gold? Run enemy camps for the 2,000 – 2,500 band.
- Short of Ancient Technology Points? Run salvage — nothing else on this list produces them at all.
Every Schematic Tier Is Exactly 5× Rarer

All three activities drop schematics, and they follow a rule the game never states. Take any schematic family and read its four tiers:
| Family | Tier 1 | Tier 2 | Tier 3 | Tier 4 |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Feathered Hair Band | 1.695% | 0.339% | 0.068% | 0.014% |
| Cloth Outfit | 2.543% | 0.509% | 0.102% | 0.020% |
| Crossbow | 5.366% | 1.073% | 0.215% | 0.043% |
| Musket | 3.066% | 0.613% | 0.123% | 0.025% |
| Tropical / Tundra Outfit | 1.271% | 0.254% | 0.051% | 0.010% |
Each step is a division by five. Measured across eight schematic families and twenty-four tier steps, the median ratio is 4.995 — not approximately a fifth, exactly a fifth.
Which means a Tier 4 schematic is roughly 125× rarer than a Tier 1 from the same source. A Crossbow Schematic 1 drops at 5.366%; the Legendary version drops at 0.043%, or about one run in 2,300.
The practical value of knowing this is patience. If you are hunting a Legendary schematic and it has not appeared in fifty runs, that is not bad luck — it is the expected outcome. At 0.043% you need thousands of attempts, not dozens. Treat Legendary schematics as something you collect incidentally while farming for other reasons, never as a target you grind toward directly.
And it tells you where to farm them. Since the ratio is fixed, the best source for a Tier 4 schematic is simply whichever activity has the highest Tier 1 rate for that family — the whole ladder shifts with it. The Crossbow line at 5.366% base is the most generous family in this data; the outfit lines at 1.271% are the least.
Practical tips
- Dungeons give the best Pal Soul rate at 42.4%, and a Mega Sphere at 17%.
- Enemy camps pay 2,000 – 2,500 Gold at 18.6% — the biggest single lump of the three.
- Only salvage drops Technical Manuals, Advanced and Ancient at 1.294% each.
- Salvage gives Hyper Spheres where dungeons give Mega — two tiers up, at a lower rate.
- Every schematic tier is exactly 5× rarer than the one below.
- A Tier 4 schematic is ~125× rarer than Tier 1. Collect them incidentally, never grind for them.
Running your own Palworld 1.0 server
All three of these are repeatable content, which means their value is measured per hour rather than per run — and that only works if the world is there when your group is. On a dedicated Palworld 1.0 server dungeon and camp spawns stay live around the clock, so a salvage circuit or a camp sweep happens when people are free rather than when the host logs in. Full crossplay lets everyone join from any platform, and one-click backups protect the schematics you collected the slow way.
Conclusion
Palworld's three repeatable loot activities share a spine — Pal Soul, key, sphere, meds — and differ in exactly the ways that matter. Dungeons lead on volume with a 42.4% Small Pal Soul rate and a Mega Sphere at 17%. Enemy camps pay the biggest single lump, 2,000 – 2,500 Gold at 18.6%. Salvage trades soul rate for quality — a Hyper Sphere rather than a Mega — and is the only one of the three that drops Advanced and Ancient Technical Manuals, at 1.294% each, which makes it a research-point source rather than just loot. Underneath all three runs a rule the game never states: every schematic tier is exactly five times rarer than the one below, verified across eight families and twenty-four steps at a median ratio of 4.995. That puts a Tier 4 schematic around 125× rarer than a Tier 1 — a Crossbow Schematic 4 sits at 0.05%, roughly one roll in two thousand. Farm these activities for what they are actually good at, and let the Legendary schematics arrive on their own.
