Palworld 1.0: Everything New (Patch Notes Overview)

After a long Early Access run, Palworld 1.0 launched on July 10, 2026 as a free update — and it's the biggest one in the game's history. The patch notes run to 27 pages and over 10,000 words, so large that GamesRadar reported they almost didn't fit on Steam before Pocketpair squeezed them in "without making any compromise." The update is live simultaneously on Steam, PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, and Game Pass (build 1.100.427).

This article is a hub overview: a quick, scannable tour of every major area 1.0 touches, with links out to deeper guides where they exist. If a specific number or name isn't confirmed yet, we say so rather than guess.

New Pals: 72 added, roster now 287

The headline creature number is 72 new Pals — 47 brand-new species plus 25 variants — pushing the total roster to 287. Alongside the new catches, Pocketpair shipped a major Partner Skill rework affecting 200+ existing Pals, over 100 new animations, and a new category of World Tree Passive Skills. The full name-by-name list of the 47 new Pals and 25 variants is still being documented across community databases, so treat any single "complete list" with caution for now.

New regions: Sunreach, the World Tree, and more

The map expands in every direction:

  • Sunreach — a floating archipelago of Sky Islands suspended above Palpagos by Paldium energy, home to an exclusive civilization, rare ores, unique Pals, and the Auri & Shaolong tower boss pair on the Azure Tapestry. Shaolong is a Dragon/Water type weak to Ice and Electric; the fight is tuned for around level 70.
  • The World Tree — the endgame region, finally reachable, and the source of the new Radiant Gems used for Awakening.
  • 7 new small islands across volcano, desert, and ruins biomes.
  • Reworked Wildlife Sanctuaries and new settlements dotted across the world.

Two new rare ores are tied to the new zones: Soralite (Sunreach only) and Paloxite (World Tree only).

How to reach the World Tree

The World Tree sits behind a short quest chain. You first defeat the Feybreak tower boss (Bjorn & Bastigor) to unlock the fast-travel altar, then beat Auri & Shaolong in Sunreach and speak to Auri, who points you to a mysterious researcher NPC at Deserted Islet. That NPC tasks you with defeating and capturing Panthalus — do that, and the World Tree opens.

New systems: Awakening and Mutation

Two big new progression systems arrive with 1.0:

  • Awakening — collect Radiant Gems hidden in the World Tree and use them to awaken a Pal for a large stat and power boost, marked visually by a golden glow. Exact percentage magnitudes haven't been published.
  • Mutation — breeding now has a low chance to produce a mutated egg; Pals hatched from one have higher stats and a unique passive skill. New breeding cakes feed into the system, though the full recipe list isn't documented yet.

New gear and 13 new weapons

Traversal and combat both get a serious kit upgrade. Standout new gear includes the Wing Pack (a glider that burns Wing Cells for Pal-free flight), the Plasma Multicutter (gather resources while riding), the Ancient Series armor set, and 44 new accessories — one example being the Command Baton, which strengthens your party Pals. An Extra Weapon Holster now lets you equip up to 6 weapons at once.

There are 13 new weapons:

Firearms & launchers Melee & specialty
Combat SMG Laser Sword
Prototype Shotgun Primitive Sword
Heavy Assault Rifle Metal Bat
Tactical Grenade Launcher Enhanced Lily's Spear
Plasma Rifle Mechanical Bow
Beam Launcher
Beam Scatter
Drone Launcher

Combat and progression changes

  • Streamlined dodge — you can now attack or reload mid-dodge, dashes cover more distance, and controls stay responsive while rolling.
  • Faster tower bosses — Tower Boss fights were rebuilt and cut from roughly 10 minutes to 5 to better fit the game's pacing.
  • Higher level cap — raised from 65 to 80.
  • Faster low-level catch-up — lower-level Pals now gain XP faster, though the exact multiplier isn't quantified in the notes.
  • Work Suitability expanded to 10 levels, the capture bonus was reduced from 12 to 5 captures, egg incubation time was halved on Normal/Hard, and the raid system was reworked around waves.

Exploration additions

  • Ancient Ruins — new sites with exploration and minigames that reward schematics (which also drop at a low rate from treasure chests and large oil rigs).
  • Observation Towers — revealing one uncovers the surrounding map and doubles as a fast-travel point.
  • Updated dungeon rewards — reward tables were refreshed, though the precise loot lists aren't itemized here.
  • New consumables — Disposable Implants grant powerful passive skills, Nutrient temporarily halts hunger depletion, and Ancient Civilization Relics convert into crafting materials.

Multiplayer, guilds, and crossplay

1.0 adds in-game voice chat (optional on dedicated servers) and a substantially expanded guild system with new ranks, rank-gated guild buildings, and cross-device sync. The exact rank names and the full building list are described only in general terms so far. Discord account linking was also added, noted as Steam/Mac only at launch.

Graphics, audio, and saves

1.0 ships a broad graphics and audio overhaulOld saves remain compatible, but because so much of the early-to-late progression was retuned, Pocketpair recommends starting a fresh save to get the intended experience.
