Incidents in Palworld: Random Events & the Pals Only They Spawn

Incidents are Palworld's random encounter events — themed groups of Pals and NPCs that appear at fixed spawner locations across the map. Most players walk past them without registering that they are a distinct system, which is a shame, because several Pals are tied to incident spawners and are far easier to catch there than at their World Tree populations. Here is how they work.
What Incidents Are
Incidents are random spawning events distributed across the map. The essentials:
- 20+ distinct incident spawners exist across forests, deserts, volcanic regions and snowy zones.
- Each spawner has a spawn rate of roughly 40%, which determines how often an encounter fires.
- They are themed by region — the encounter group matches the biome it appears in.
- Contents include Pals, NPCs and boss variants.
Because they are tied to fixed spawner locations with a percentage chance, incidents sit somewhere between a scheduled event and a random encounter: you cannot force one, but you can know where to look.
What Shows Up

Three categories:
Signature Pals — each zone spawns region-specific creatures. Vanwyrm in volcanic areas, Cryolinx in snowy zones, Ragnahawk in magma regions, Wumpo in snowy areas, Tocotoco in grasslands, Gildane in desert regions.
NPCs — merchants, Tamers, cultists and other human encounters. The merchant spawns are worth stopping for: Palworld's Wandering Merchant and Vagrant Trader stock Hardwood, Leather, spheres and arrows, and buying those is often cheaper than farming them.
Boss variants — rare elite versions of standard Pals with special titles, such as "Guardian Beast of Twilight". These are the encounters worth committing spheres to.
Dark Island incidents feature high-level creatures including Nitemary and Lyleen Noct.
The Pals Worth Watching For

The most practically useful incident spawn is Faleris on Dark Island at Level 54.
Faleris otherwise lives in the World Tree at Level 76 – 80, which is a considerably harder fight for the same Pal. Since its partner skill — Ice Pals drop 40~80% more items when defeated — is identical at every level, catching the Level 54 incident version gets you the useful part for a fraction of the effort.
That is the general principle with incident spawns: the partner skill does not scale with level, so an incident-spawned Pal at Level 54 gives you exactly the same utility as the Level 80 version. You only need the high-level population if you are farming its drops.
Other incident-tied Pals by region:
| Pal | Region |
|---|---|
| Ragnahawk | Magma zones |
| Vanwyrm | Volcanic areas |
| Cryolinx | Snowy zones |
| Wumpo | Snowy areas |
| Tocotoco | Grasslands |
| Gildane | Desert regions |
| Nitemary, Lyleen Noct | Dark Island |
How to Actually Use Them

Incidents are not a farming route. At roughly 40% per spawner and no way to trigger one deliberately, treating them as a grind will frustrate you. Treat them as opportunity instead:
- Engage when you pass one. If an incident is active on a route you are already running, take it.
- Carry the Ring of Mercy (Technology Level 18). It prevents lethal damage, which matters because incident boss variants are rare and you will not get a second attempt at that specific spawn.
- Bring the Ability Glasses (Technology Level 34) so you can check a rare spawn's hidden IVs before spending an Ancient Sphere on it.
- Watch for the titled boss variants. Elites like "Guardian Beast of Twilight" are the encounters actually worth the spheres.
- Stop for the NPC merchants. A Vagrant Trader that appears via an incident stocks the same cheap Hardwood and Leather as a fixed one — and it roams, so you cannot plan a return trip.
Practical tips
- You cannot force an incident. At ~40% per spawner, plan routes past them rather than camping.
- Partner skills do not scale with level. Catch Faleris at Level 54 on Dark Island rather than fighting the Level 80 World Tree version for the same skill.
- Ring of Mercy is essential here — a rare boss variant you accidentally kill is gone.
- NPC merchant spawns are worth stopping for. Hardwood at 100 gold and Leather at 200 beat farming them.
- Incidents are region-themed, so the biome tells you what to expect before the encounter loads.
Running your own Palworld 1.0 server
Incidents fire on their own schedule across 20+ spawners, which means the more hours your world is live, the more of them you actually encounter. On a dedicated Palworld 1.0 server the map is running around the clock, so incident spawns cycle whether or not anyone is logged in — and a group sweeping different regions through full crossplay covers far more spawners than one player could. One-click backups and automatic updates keep the rare catches safe.
Conclusion
Incidents are random themed spawn events at 20+ spawners across Palworld's biomes, firing at roughly a 40% rate, and containing region-specific Pals, NPC merchants and titled boss variants. They are not farmable — you cannot trigger one — so treat them opportunistically. The single most useful thing to know is that partner skills do not scale with level: Faleris spawns via a Dark Island incident at Level 54 with exactly the same 40~80% Ice Pal loot bonus as its Level 80 World Tree version. Carry the Ring of Mercy so a rare elite is never lost to overkill.
