How to Modify Armor in Soulmask
Soulmask is a game that demands strategic thinking and resource management. Armor plays a vital role in your survival, providing protection against various threats like cold, heat, poison, and radiation. However, the current modding system can be cumbersome, requiring multiple armor suits or frequent mod swaps. This guide aims to simplify the process and help you maximize your armor's potential.
Set Up Crafting Stations
To start improving your armor, you need to gather the right materials. These include Rough Leather, Hardwood Plank, Stone or Flint, Leather Rope, Cotton, Leather, Hides, and Oils. These materials are fundamental for crafting and upgrading your armor.
Once you have the necessary materials, it's time to set up crucial crafting stations. The Craftsman’s Bench and Armor Forging Table are essential for creating and modifying armor. Here’s what you need for each:

- Craftsman’s Bench: 5 Rough Leather, 5 Leather Rope, 5 Hardwood Plank, 24 Stone or Flint
- Armor Forging Table: 19 Planks, 10 Leather, 10 Thin Rope
Having these stations set up is vital for crafting and modifying your armor.
Unlock Armor Modifications
Delve into the Knowledge & Technology menu by pressing ‘T’ to unlock armor modifications. You'll find these under Medium and Advanced Craftsmanship tech.

Unlocking these mods will give you access to a variety of enhancements for your armor, making them more effective against different environmental threats.
Armor Mod System
Currently, Soulmask's modding system can be frustrating. Mods disappear after each repair, and only one mod can be applied per armor piece. Ideally, each armor piece should have multiple mod slots based on its quality. It’s not worth strengthening weak armor with expensive and rare modifications.

High-end armor should be able to support all necessary environmental mods and an additional slot for defense or other enhancements.
Crafting Recipes for Armor Mods
To craft Damage Reduction or Defense Armor Modifications, interract with upgraded Armor Forging Table:
- Defense Mod 1: Requires 10 Copper Wire, 2 Raw Lacquer or Mineral Oil, offers 10 DEF with minor speed and sound penalties
To get higher-level modifications, you should upgrade your Crafting Station and change the first ingredient to Iron Wire or Steel Wire accordingly.

To improve the resistance of your armor to damage, you should use Damage Reduction Modifications, utilizing Rubber and Iron or Steel Ingots depending on the level of the mod.
You can increase the environmental resistance of your armor, such as radiation, cold, heat, and concealment, by crafting modifications at the Craftsman’s Table. There is a wide assortment of modifications available for your gear.

Apply Armor Mods
Once you've crafted the mods, applying them is straightforward. Find the mod in your inventory and drag it onto the desired armor piece. The mod will then be applied, and its icon will appear over the armor in your inventory. Remember, mods are temporary and will be removed upon repair or if the armor breaks.
Looting the Dungeons
There is a high probability that you will find high-level Mod 3 for your armor after defeating elite enemies guarding important places in Soulmask. Explore ancient ruins and don’t be afraid of the battles against formidable foes, because it is worth it.

Improving your armor in Soulmask involves gathering materials, setting up crafting stations, unlocking mods, and strategically applying them to your gear. Despite the current limitations of the modding system, mastering this process will significantly enhance your protection and survivability in the game.
