Lord Styx the Night Champion circles the colossal blood crystal in Dracula’s Demise, his crimson cloak whipping in the moonlit breeze. Bring your best gear to his arena south of Gloomrot and be ready to dodge his Double Kill slashes, Death Spin blades, and Bat Swarm orbs.

Approach Lord Styxs blood crystal arena and strike to unlock Onyx Tear.

When Styx collapses at your feet you’ll hear the echo of unlocking a new blueprint. The recipe for Onyx Tear now lives in your castle library alongside Bat Form and the Blood Key, marking your triumph over one of Dracula’s oldest lieutenants.

Crafting onyx tear

Stand before any Anvil in your fortress and open the crafting interface. You’ll see Onyx Tear requires four Gold Ingots refined from Gold Ore, four Ember Glass pieces milled from molten Sand and Empty Flasks, and four Power Cores charged from Rift Incursion batteries. If your Anvil is upgraded to tier two you need only three of each. Slide the ingredients into the slots and strike forge to watch the swirling black crystal coalesce, each tear embodying the fusion of blood magic, molten metal, and arcane power.

Melt sand and Empty Flasks into Ember Glass in a glowing furnace.

Farming from bosses

When crafting supplies run low, journey back to the heart of Oakveil’s challenges. Solarus the Immaculate in the Fortress of Light, Talzur the Winged Horror atop the Dreaded Peak, and Adam the Firstborn in Doctor Blackbrew’s Castle each carry a 25 percent chance to drop a tear on death. Coordinate your approach for each boss’s arena hazards - holy pillars, burning rain, electrified towers - and strike true. Claim the shimmering drop when their forms dissipate, forging your collection one hard-won tear at a time.

Hunt Solarus in the Fortress of Light and claim tears from his ruin.

Alternate purchasing

If you’d rather trade gold than grind metals, head to the hidden Treasure Hunter Trade Post near the eastern edge of Gloomrot. The vendor’s stall gleams in torchlight and offers Onyx Tears for 200 Goldsun Coins each. Stock your coffers by harvesting gold veins and selling unwanted loot at castle merchants, then spend your fortune on tears whenever you wish. Check back each day, as the post refreshes and keeps your blood-bound wallet light.

Uses and recipes

With your vault full of Onyx Tears you can unleash them at the Ancestral Forge to restore shards into epic weapons from Twinblades to Whips, four tears apiece. You’ll also need single tears to craft Thrones of Darkness or display pedestals for each Soul Shard in your keep. Plan your tear tally accordingly - maybe eight for weapons and four for throne room décor - so each glinting gem drives your ascension as Vardoran’s supreme vampire.

Onyx Tear is the linchpin of your late-game strategy, and mastering every way to procure, craft, and spend these dark gems has now become your new obsession.
