Ashlands Enemies in Valheim: Charred, Morgen and the Fallen Valkyrie

Card listing the Charred Warrior's health and attacks.

Everything in the Ashlands hits for around 150, and the ordinary infantry has 600 health. For comparison, a Greyling in the Meadows has 20 health and a Draugr hits for 40 – 50. The Ashlands is not a step up in difficulty, it is a different scale — and the useful thing to know before you go is that most of its damage is physical, which means a shield still works here, unlike against Fader itself.

On sourcing. Iron Gate do not publish creature stat blocks. The figures below come from the community wikis, and resistances are not published for any of these three — this guide covers health, attacks and drops only.

Charred Warrior

AttackDamage
Swing150 Slash
Thrust160 Pierce
Feint130 Slash
Thrust feint160 Pierce

Note that two of its four attacks are feints. The Charred Warrior is built to punish a badly timed parry — and with a 0.25 second parry window, a feint that pulls your block early is a real threat rather than a flourish.

All four attacks are Slash or Pierce, which are both physical damage types that contribute to stagger — so blocking works, and so does parrying if your timing survives the feints.

The Charred come as a faction, not as individuals: Warrior, Marksman, Warlock and Twitcher arrive together. Only the Warrior's numbers are published, but the shape of the encounter — melee, ranged and caster at once — is what makes the Ashlands punishing solo.

Morgen

Card listing Morgen's attacks, all of which are Blunt.

AttackDamageCooldown
Bite160 Blunt4 s
Swipe (four variants)160 Blunt each4 s each
Body Slam160 Blunt12 s
Roll50 Blunt12 – 20 s

Every attack Morgen has is Blunt, which makes it the most predictable enemy in the biome to armour against — and note the 4-second cooldowns on the bite and all four swipes, which means it is attacking almost continuously.

The line that matters for your base: Morgen's attacks also carry 100 Chop and 100 Pickaxe damage alongside the Blunt. Chop and Pickaxe are the damage types that destroy structures — so a Morgen wandering into your Ashlands outpost does not just fight you, it demolishes the building. That is a second, independent reason to build in Grausten rather than wood.

Its drops are the reason to fight one:

Fallen Valkyrie

Card listing the Fallen Valkyrie's three attacks and their mixed damage types.

AttackDamage
Spit80 Fire + 18 Poison
Claws105 Slash + 55 Pierce
Spin80 Blunt + 140 Pierce

Its three attacks cover three different threat profiles, which is unusual — most Ashlands enemies commit to one. The Spit is elemental (Fire and Poison, neither of which staggers you but both of which are still reduced by armour), while the Claws and Spin are purely physical and blockable.

The Spin is the dangerous one at 220 combined damage, and like Morgen it also carries 100 Chop and 100 Pickaxe — so it too will take apart a wooden structure.

It drops Celestial Feathers at 2 – 3, with a 5% trophy chance.

What This Roster Means

Card explaining that Ashlands enemies deal physical damage, unlike Fader.

The single most useful conclusion: the Ashlands' ordinary enemies are physical, and Fader is not.

Damage typeBlockable?
Charred WarriorSlash, PierceYes
MorgenBluntYes
Fallen ValkyrieSlash, Pierce, Blunt, plus Fire and PoisonMostly
FaderFire and Spirit, four unblockable attacksLargely no

That means the gear that gets you through the biome is not the gear that beats its boss. A shield and high armour carry you across the Ashlands; the Fader fight then asks for fire resistance and a health pool deep enough to eat unavoidable damage.

Only Slash, Pierce, Blunt and Lightning contribute to stagger, so against the Charred and Morgen your guard behaves normally — and the Bonemass power, with no block stamina cost and 5 stamina returned per block, is genuinely strong here.

And build in Grausten. Between Morgen and the Fallen Valkyrie both dealing 100 Chop and 100 Pickaxe, and cinder rain destroying structures independently, a wooden Ashlands base has three separate things trying to delete it.

How to Survive the Ashlands Roster

  1. Bring a shield. Unlike the boss fight, ordinary Ashlands damage is blockable.
  2. Expect the Charred as a group — Warrior, Marksman, Warlock and Twitcher together.
  3. Watch for feints. Two of the Warrior's four attacks are designed to break a parry.
  4. Treat Morgen as a demolition hazard, not just an enemy — it deals Chop and Pickaxe damage.
  5. Build in Grausten and put up a Shield Generator.
  6. Do not assume boss gear works on trash — the opposite is true here.

Practical tips

  • Charred Warrior: 600 HP at 0★, 1,200 at 1★, and two of its four attacks are feints.
  • Every Morgen attack is 160 Blunt on a 4-second cooldown.
  • Morgen and Fallen Valkyrie both deal 100 Chop and 100 Pickaxe — they demolish buildings.
  • Fallen Valkyrie's Spin is 220 combined damage, the biggest single hit here.
  • Ordinary Ashlands damage is physical and blockable. Fader's is not.
  • Resistances are not published for any of these three.

Running your own Valheim server

An Ashlands outpost is under attack from three directions — the Charred, the Morgen that demolish walls, and cinder rain that falls whether or not anyone is logged in. A gamever Valheim server keeps the world live for up to 10 players, so a base can be defended and rebuilt by whoever is online rather than waiting on a host. One-click backups protect a Grausten build that took a session to raise, and automatic updates keep client and server aligned.

Conclusion

The Ashlands' ordinary enemies operate at a scale nothing earlier prepares you for: a Charred Warrior has 600 health at 0★ and 1,200 at 1★, and attacks for 150 Slash and 160 Pierce — with two of its four attacks being feints aimed squarely at Valheim's 0.25-second parry window. Morgen deals 160 Blunt on 4-second cooldowns and nothing else, while the Fallen Valkyrie spreads across 80 Fire + 18 Poison, 105 Slash + 55 Pierce and a 220-damage Spin. The practical conclusion is that ordinary Ashlands damage is physical and therefore blockable, which makes a shield build strong here even though it is largely useless against Fader — the gear that crosses the biome is not the gear that beats its boss. And because Morgen and the Fallen Valkyrie both carry 100 Chop and 100 Pickaxe damage, they demolish buildings on contact: build in Grausten.
