Water Mounts in Palworld: All 20, and Why Chillet Is Still Competitive at Tech 11

Palworld has twenty rideable water mounts, and the list contains the most striking value anomaly in the whole mount system: Chillet, unlocked at Technology 11, swims at 1,890 — and the Technology 64 Neptilius manages 2,000. Fifty-three technology levels for a six percent increase. The reason to unlock the later mounts turns out to have nothing to do with speed.
The Fastest Swimmers

| Mount | Dash | Swim | Tech | Stamina |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Panthalus | 3000 | 3000 | — | 100 |
| Neptilius | 2000 | 1800 | 64 | 410 |
| Ophydia | 1900 | 1600 | 72 | 100 |
| Chillet | 1890 | 1350 | 11 | 100 |
| Jormuntide | 1800 | 1080 | 40 | 150 |
| Relaxaurus | 1800 | 1170 | 45 | 200 |
| Surfent | 1440 | 900 | 16 | 100 |
| Elphidran Aqua | 1440 | 1134 | 32 | 130 |
| Shaolong | 1400 | 1400 | 77 | 100 |
| Ghangler | 1350 | 1200 | 31 | 320 |
Panthalus sits outside the ladder entirely at 3,000, matching its flying speed exactly — the only Pal in the game that travels at full speed in two elements.
Neptilius is the genuine top of the obtainable ladder at 2,000 dash, and its real distinction is the stamina column: 410, the highest of any mount in any category.
Ophydia at 1,900 has the same problem in water as it does on land — a strong dash number attached to 100 stamina, which limits it to short crossings.
Shaolong is worth a note. It swims at 1,400 dash and 1,400 swim — identical, like Panthalus — so it never slows down, but at a much lower ceiling.
Chillet Is the Anomaly

| Chillet | Neptilius | |
|---|---|---|
| Technology | 11 | 64 |
| Swim dash | 1890 | 2000 |
| Swim | 1350 | 1800 |
| Stamina | 100 | 410 |
Fifty-three technology levels separate them, and the dash speed differs by 5.8%.
But look at the other two rows and the picture inverts. Neptilius has 33% more base swim speed — which is what you actually travel at when you are not dashing — and more than four times the stamina. Chillet dashes almost as fast; it simply cannot keep doing it.
So Chillet is the early-game answer to a specific problem: getting across a channel now, at Technology 11, without waiting. Neptilius is the answer to crossing an ocean. They are not competing for the same job, which is why the raw dash comparison is misleading in both directions.
And Chillet has a second reason to stay in your roster. It is a type converter — while mounted it changes your attack type to Dragon with a +5~20% attack bonus — which is unusual for a Technology 11 unlock and keeps it useful long after faster swimmers arrive.
The Rest of the List

| Tech | Mount | Dash | Stamina |
|---|---|---|---|
| 11 | Chillet | 1890 | 100 |
| 16 | Surfent | 1440 | 100 |
| 24 | Azurobe | 1000 | 160 |
| 26 | Polapup | 675 | 120 |
| 27 | Azurobe Cryst | 1000 | 160 |
| 31 | Ghangler | 1350 | 320 |
| 32 | Elphidran Aqua | 1440 | 130 |
| 40 | Jormuntide | 1800 | 150 |
| 42 | Ghangler Ignis | 1350 | 320 |
| 44 | Suzaku Aqua | 850 | 350 |
| 45 | Relaxaurus | 1800 | 200 |
| 64 | Neptilius | 2000 | 410 |
| 65/66 | Solmora / Solmora Lux | 1300 | 220 |
| 72 | Ophydia | 1900 | 100 |
Ghangler at Technology 31 is the underrated pick. At 320 stamina it carries more than three times Chillet's endurance at a respectable 1,350 dash — and it arrives thirty-three technology levels before Neptilius. If your problem is distance rather than speed, Ghangler is the mid-game answer and Ghangler Ignis at Tech 42 is the same mount again.
Jormuntide and Relaxaurus both hit 1,800 dash in the Technology 40s, which is where the mid-game speed ceiling sits. Relaxaurus has 200 stamina against Jormuntide's 150, making it the better of the pair despite arriving five levels later.
Solmora and Solmora Lux are not travel mounts. At 1,300 dash they are slower than a Technology 32 Elphidran Aqua — but their Partner Skill makes it easier to fish up talented Pals, and Solmora Lux additionally converts your attack type to Electric. You bring them for the fishing perk, not the crossing.
Two entries are outright skippable for travel. Polapup at 675 dash is the slowest water mount in the game, and Suzaku Aqua at 850 is slower than the Technology 16 Surfent despite arriving at 44 — though its 350 stamina is the second-highest in the category.
Practical tips
- 20 water mounts. Panthalus at 3,000 dash is the outlier, matching its flight speed.
- Neptilius (Tech 64) tops the obtainable list at 2,000 dash and 410 stamina — the highest stamina of any mount.
- Chillet at Technology 11 dashes at 1,890 — within 6% of Neptilius.
- But Chillet has 100 stamina against Neptilius's 410. Dash speed is not range.
- Ghangler (Tech 31, 320 stamina) is the mid-game distance mount.
- Relaxaurus beats Jormuntide — same 1,800 dash, 200 stamina against 150.
- Solmora is a fishing Pal, not a travel mount.

Ocean crossings are where a group splits up and needs to find each other again — a shared, always-on world is what makes an island outpost worth building rather than a place one person visited once. A gamever Palworld server keeps that map live with full crossplay, automatic updates and one-click backups.
Conclusion
Palworld's twenty water mounts are led by Panthalus at 3,000 dash — the only Pal that moves at full speed in two elements — with Neptilius at Technology 64 topping the obtainable ladder at 2,000 dash and 410 stamina, the largest stamina pool of any mount in the game. The headline curiosity is Chillet: unlocked at Technology 11, it dashes at 1,890, within 6% of Neptilius — but at 100 stamina against 410 and 1,350 base swim against 1,800, it is a channel-crosser rather than an ocean-crosser. For distance in the mid-game, Ghangler at Technology 31 carries 320 stamina, and Relaxaurus (1,800 dash, 200 stamina) edges out Jormuntide at the same speed. Solmora and Solmora Lux are fishing Pals, not travel ones, and Polapup (675) and Suzaku Aqua (850) are slower than the Technology 16 Surfent.
