The Black Knights of Dowdun Reach: Five Enemies, Five Different Weaknesses

Dowdun Reach in Dragonwilds.

The Black Knights arrived with update 0.11 on 31 March 2026 and garrison Dowdun Reach. All five are power level 6, which suggests a uniform fight and delivers the opposite: their health values run from 560 to 14,000, and between them they are weak to Crush, Earth, Stab, Fire, Water and Air — six different things across five enemies. One of them even resists arrows and bolts, which is a problem, because it is the archer.

All Five at a Glance

Card comparing the five Black Knight variants by health and weakness.

EnemyPower levelHealthWeak toResistant to
Black Knight Sniper6560Stab, FireBolts, Arrows
Black Knight Warrior6630Crush, EarthSlash, Stab
Black Knight Guardian6910Crush, EarthSlash, Stab
Elite Black Knight61,680AirSlash, Stab
Black Knight Titan614,000Crush, WaterFire, Slash

The Titan has twenty-five times the health of the Sniper at the same power level. That is the widest same-tier spread in the game, and it is the clearest possible demonstration that power level is a gear gate, not a difficulty rating.

Crush Is the Thread, But Not the Whole Answer

Three of the five — Warrior, Guardian and Titan — are weak to Crush, and four of the five resist Slash and Stab. That is a coherent design: these are armoured knights, and armour is answered by blunt force rather than edges.

So the default weapon for Dowdun Reach is a mace or another Crush-class weapon, and a sword or dagger build will grind. But the exceptions are what actually kill people:

  • The Sniper is the reverse. It is weak to Stab, not Crush — the one place your dagger works — and it resists Bolts and Arrows outright. You cannot answer the enemy archer by out-shooting it.
  • The Elite is weak to Air alone. Not Crush, not Earth, not a physical type at all. A pure-melee group fighting an Elite is fighting into its Slash and Stab resistance with nothing it is actually weak to.

Read those two together and the loadout for the Reach is a Crush weapon plus an elemental option, with Air covering the Elite and Stab kept available for Snipers.

The Elemental Split

Card showing the elemental weaknesses across the Black Knight garrison.

Each of the four magic elements appears exactly once as a weakness in this garrison, which is unlikely to be an accident:

ElementWorks on
EarthWarrior, Guardian
FireSniper
WaterTitan
AirElite

No single element covers the garrison. Earth handles the two common troops, but the Sniper resists nothing elemental and takes extra from Fire, the Elite responds only to Air, and the Titan — the one fight where damage type genuinely matters — wants Water, which is also the element the Titan's Fire resistance is punishing you for not bringing.

For a caster that means carrying more than one element into Dowdun Reach, and for a group it means splitting elements across players rather than everyone stacking the same one.

The Titan

Card listing the Black Knight Titan's 14,000 health and three immunities.

The Black Knight Titan deserves its own paragraph because it is the largest health pool in this set by an order of magnitude:

FieldValue
Health14,000
Power level6
Weak toCrush, Water
Resistant toFire, Slash
Immune toBurning, Bleed, Poison

(For the fight itself rather than the stat block, there is a dedicated walkthrough: Beating the Black Knight Titan.)

The immunity line is the part to plan around. Burning, Bleed and Poison all do nothing, which removes an entire category of damage-over-time from a fight long enough that damage-over-time would otherwise be excellent. A 14,000-health enemy is exactly where a bleed or a poison would pay off across the fight duration — and all three are off the table.

What is left is Crush for the physical half and Water for the elemental half, both of which it is weak to, and both of which stack with the fact that it resists Fire and Slash — the two things a fire-mage or a swordsman would otherwise bring.

Running your own Dragonwilds server

A garrison that wants four elements and two weapon classes is a group fight by design, and groups need a world that is still there when everyone logs back in. A gamever Dragonwilds server keeps Ashenfall persistent with automatic updates and one-click backups.

Conclusion

Dowdun Reach's five Black Knights all sit at power level 6 while running from 560 health on a Sniper to 14,000 on the Titan — a twenty-five-fold spread that shows power level gates gear, not difficulty. Four of the five resist Slash and Stab and three are weak to Crush, so a mace is the default weapon of the Reach and an edged build will grind. The two exceptions decide your loadout: the Sniper is weak to Stab and resists both Bolts and Arrows, so you cannot answer the enemy archer with archery, and the Elite Black Knight is weak to Air alone — no physical weakness at all. Each magic element appears exactly once as a weakness — Earth for Warrior and Guardian, Fire for the Sniper, Air for the Elite, Water for the Titan — so no single element covers the garrison, and a caster needs at least two. The Titan is the fight to prepare for specifically: 14,000 health, weak to Crush and Water, resistant to Fire and Slash, and immune to Burning, Bleed and Poison, which removes damage-over-time from precisely the fight long enough to want it.
