How to Tame Asksvin in Valheim Update

     Taming an Asksvin in Valheim is a rewarding challenge for any adventurer venturing into the Ashlands biome. These creatures, which resemble oversized Necks, are valuable for their ability to traverse lava, serve as mounts, and provide rare resources.

 

 

 

Prepare Your Gear

 

     Before searching for Asksvins, gather the necessary equipment. Craft an Asksvin saddle at a Level 2 Black Forge, requiring six Flametal, 20 Linen Thread, and four Morgen Sinew. Flametal ore is found in glowing piles in the Ashlands and requires an iron pickaxe to mine. Linen Thread is produced by adding flax to a spinning wheel, while Morgen Sinew comes from defeating Morgens.

 

 

 

Locate and Trap Asksvins

 

     Asksvins appear in the Ashlands, with higher-starred variants only spawning at night. Use a pickaxe to dig a deep pit with steep walls to trap them. Ensure the walls are tall enough to prevent them from climbing out. Lure an Asksvin to the pit by baiting it with food or using the Abyssal Harpoon to drag it into the trap.

 

 

     Make sure the pit is deep and secure, as Asksvins are adept at climbing shallow inclines. If the creature escapes, it may attack or flee, delaying the taming process.

 

 

 

Begin Taming

 

     Once the Asksvin is trapped, drop food into the pit and stay within 64 meters to maintain proximity. The taming process begins when golden hearts appear above the creature. Avoid disturbing the Asksvin or letting it enter combat, as this will interrupt the process. Taming usually takes around 30 minutes, with progress increasing steadily.

 

 

     Ensure taming starts before dawn if you're dealing with a night-spawned Asksvin, as it will despawn once the day begins unless taming has begun.

 

 

 

Ride and Utilize Your Asksvin

 

     After taming, equip the Asksvin saddle to use it as a mount. Asksvins can traverse lava without taking damage, making them ideal for exploring the Ashlands. Alternatively, you can enclose the pit for breeding, allowing them to produce eggs. These eggs can be transported to other bases for hatching.

 

 

Expand Your Asksvin Farm

 

     For breeding, provide the Asksvins with Fiddleheads, Vineberry Clusters, or Smoke Puffs to keep them happy and encourage reproduction. Keep the number of Asksvins within ten meters under ten to prevent overcrowding. Place eggs near a heat source like a campfire to hatch them into hatchlings. With proper care, these hatchlings will grow into adult Asksvins, expanding your farm.
