How to make a portal in Minecraft

Minecraft, a popular game with multiple dimensions, features two major types of portals: the Nether Portal and the End Portal. These portals serve as gateways to other realms in the game.

The Nether Portal is akin to Minecraft's version of hell, filled with lava, fire, and undead warriors. To create a Nether Portal, you require obsidian blocks and a method to ignite them. Obtaining obsidian can be done in various ways, including mining it with a diamond pickaxe or finding it naturally spawned in certain structures.

For igniting the portal, a flint and steel tool is necessary, which can be crafted using an iron ingot and flint. Building the portal frame involves arranging the obsidian blocks in specific configurations, either using 14 blocks or 10 by cutting out the corners.

Once the portal frame is assembled, activating it with the flint and steel creates a purple haze, through which players can jump to be transported to the Nether. Alternatively, players can also discover partially built Nether Portals scattered throughout the Overworld, which can be completed and activated.

On the other hand, crafting an End Portal from scratch is not possible in the regular game modes, except for Creative Mode, where all blocks are accessible. Instead, players need to locate a stronghold where the End Portal is already partially built and complete it by using Eyes of Ender.

Strongholds can be found by throwing Eyes of Ender into the air and following their trajectory. Once the End Portal is located, players must place an Eye of Ender into each of the twelve portal frames to activate it and access the End dimension.

Aside from the Nether and End Portals, there are a few other types of portals in Minecraft, such as the Exit Portal and End Gateway. These portals cannot be crafted but are obtainable by defeating the Ender Dragon or using console commands.

Another peculiar type of portal, the Funky Portal, was introduced as an April Fool's joke in 2020. It could be created by throwing a book into a Nether Portal and would randomly teleport players to one of 2.1 billion dimensions. However, this type of portal is no longer available in the current version of Minecraft, and players would need to use a specific Snapshot version to experience it.

Conclusion

In conclusion, Minecraft offers an immersive gaming experience with its diverse dimensions and captivating portals. The Nether Portal provides access to a perilous realm filled with challenges and valuable resources, while the End Portal leads to an enigmatic dimension where players can confront the Ender Dragon. Throughout the game, players can encounter various other portals that add to the excitement and possibilities.
