How to Get a Pet in Core Keeper 1.0

How Do Pets Work?

In Core Keeper 1.0, pets are a new type of equipment that you can hatch from eggs. Each pet offers unique benefits and can be equipped to aid in combat or provide buffs. To get started, you'll need to find a pet egg, hatch it using an Egg Incubator, and then level up your new companion. Pets come with a variety of abilities and can even evolve with new talents as they gain experience through battles and feeding.

Where to Find Pet Eggs

Finding pet eggs is your first step toward getting a companion. Each pet hatches from a specific type of egg, which can be found in various locations throughout the game:

     - Subterrier (Loyal Egg): Dig in any non-Laval Rock terrain using a shovel. These eggs have a rare drop rate, so be patient!

     - Embertail (Curious Egg): Purchase from the Bearded Merchant for 375 Ancient Coins. A good source of Ancient Coins is farming chests and selling items.

     - Pheromoth (Fuzzy Egg): Search crates in the Forgotten Ruins or the Dirt Biome, with a higher chance in the Dirt Biome.

How to Hatch Pet Eggs

Once you have a pet egg, it’s time to hatch it! For this, you'll need an Egg Incubator, which you can craft at a Copper Workbench. To build an Egg Incubator, gather 8 Copper Ingots and 8 Glass Pieces.

     Crafting the Egg Incubator:

Smelt sand at a Glass Smelter (crafted with 5 Copper Bars) to obtain Glass Pieces. You’ll need a Generator and wires to power the Incubator. Set up an Electronics Table with 8 Wood and 8 Copper Bars to manage your electrical systems.

Place your egg in the Incubator, and after 30 minutes, it will be ready to hatch. Check for the egg’s cracked appearance to know it's time. Equip the cracked egg as you would any consumable item to hatch your pet.

How to Level Up Pets

Pets level up through combat and feeding. Combat is the primary source of experience, but you can also use special items to boost their XP. Here’s how to maximize your pet’s growth:

     - Pet Pellets: Grant +50 experience.

     - Rare Candy: Provides +500 experience.

     - Beast Booster: Offers +5,000 experience.

Each time your pet levels up, it gains a boost in stats and Talent Points. You can use these points to enhance specific abilities, though the talents available are randomized. If you want to change your pet’s talents, you can reset them for 200 Ancient Coins.
