How to Find Copper in Valheim
In Valheim, progression takes you from stone tools to powerful metal ones, and finding Copper Ore deposits is your first step into the metal age.
Finding Copper Ore Deposits
After defeating the first boss, Eikthyr, and leaving the starting Meadows biome, you'll want to find Copper Ore deposits.
Copper Ore deposits are located exclusively in the Black Forest biome.

Explore the Black Forest and search for large boulders of rock on the forest floor.

Within these rocks, you'll notice shining veins of Copper Ore.

Approach one of these rocks and hover your crosshair over it. If it displays "Copper deposit," you've found what you need.
Copper deposits primarily spawn in the Black Forest, and there doesn't seem to be any specific criteria beyond that. Be thorough in your mining, as Copper Ore often runs deep within the rocks. Even if you think you've mined it all, continue to mine the entire rock area to ensure you don't miss any hidden deposits.

Mining Copper Deposits
Once you've found a Copper deposit, the next step is to mine the Copper Ore. You can do this with an Antler Pickaxe or a better pickaxe. Here are some tips for efficient mining:
Understand that Copper deposits are huge boulders that stretch underground. You're only seeing the very top of the boulder. The center of the boulder is filled with dirt and rock, which can fool players into thinking they've found all the Copper when they've only mined a section of the boulder. Smaller boulders also yield a significant amount of Copper Ore when fully excavated.

To fully excavate a Copper boulder, dig down beside it in the dirt, then work your way around it, finding the sides of the boulder and digging underneath it as much as possible.
Smelting Copper
With Copper Ore in place now you will smelt it down to copper ingots. This is possible in a Smelter. Two coal and a copper ore will be required for creation of one copper bar. They are quite adaptable and can be used in the making of such products as Bronze, Copper Knife, Forges, Forge Cooler or sconce.

Conclusion
In conclusion, Copper is a crucial resource in Valheim, marking your entry into the world of metalworking. Remember to explore the Black Forest biome, identify Copper deposits, mine them efficiently, and use Smelters to turn Copper Ore into Copper bars for crafting. With these skills, you'll thrive in Valheim's metal age.
