How to Beat Yagluth in Valheim (Offering, Attacks & Strategy)

Yagluth has 10,000 health and no weakness at all. Every other Valheim boss hands you a multiplier to exploit — fire on The Elder, blunt on Bonemass, fire again on Moder. Yagluth gives you nothing: five damage types sit at neutral, Fire is resisted at ×0.5, and Pierce is resisted at ×0.25. There is no clever answer, only a correct one and several wrong ones. And its three attacks are all fire, which makes Fire Resistance Barley Wine the single most important item you can carry.

Yagluth at a Glance
| Field | Value |
|---|---|
| Health | 10,000 — the largest of any boss |
| Biome | Plains — four altars, each 3000 m apart |
| Offering | 5 Fuling Totems |
| Neutral to | Blunt, Slash, Frost, Lightning, Spirit (all ×1) |
| Resistant to | Fire ×0.5 |
| Very resistant to | Pierce ×0.25 |
| Immune to | Poison, Stagger |
| Drops | 3 Torn Spirits, Yagluth Trophy |
The 5 Fuling Totems come from Fuling Villages in the Plains, and collecting them is a serious undertaking in its own right — Fuling camps are among the most dangerous non-boss content in the game. Bring your best gear for the totems, not just for the fight.
No Weakness, Only Neutrals

| Damage type | Multiplier | Verdict |
|---|---|---|
| Blunt | ×1 | Fine |
| Slash | ×1 | Fine |
| Frost | ×1 | Fine |
| Lightning | ×1 | Fine |
| Spirit | ×1 | Fine |
| Fire | ×0.5 | Avoid |
| Pierce | ×0.25 | Avoid entirely |
The Pierce line is the trap. By the Plains you have a Draugr Fang and a deep stack of arrows, and that entire loadout does a quarter damage here. Against 10,000 health that is the difference between a nine-minute fight and a thirty-six minute one.
Fire is the second trap, for the opposite reason to every previous boss. Fire arrows carried you through The Elder and Moder; here they are halved, and the boss is throwing fire back at you.
What to actually use: Frost Arrows if you want to stay at range — frost is neutral and arrows still carry the Pierce penalty, so pair them with a Blackmetal melee weapon for the bulk of the damage. Blackmetal Sword (Slash) or Porcupine (Blunt + Pierce) both work at full value on their non-Pierce component.
Its Three Attacks — All Fire

| Attack | Damage | Range | Cooldown |
|---|---|---|---|
| Beam | 20 projectiles, 40 Fire + 20 Lightning each | 10 – 40 m | 15 s |
| Meteors | 10 meteors, 40 Blunt + 120 Fire each | within 30 m | 25 s |
| Nova | 65 Fire + 65 Lightning, then 100 Fire lingering | 10 m radius | 20 s |
Fire Resistance Barley Wine is mandatory. Every attack in that table carries a large fire component, and the Nova leaves 100 Fire lingering on top of its initial 130. Without the wine, a single unlucky sequence deletes you.
The Nova only fires within 10 metres. That is the clearest positional rule in the fight — stay outside that radius and you remove the hardest-hitting attack from Yagluth's rotation entirely. This is the main argument for a ranged-leaning approach despite the Pierce penalty.
The Meteors are telegraphed. They land in marked positions, so the counter is simply to keep moving — never stand still to line up a shot.
The Beam reaches 40 metres with 20 projectiles, so like The Elder, distance alone does not save you. Movement does.
Yagluth is immune to Stagger, so once again there is no parry-and-punish rhythm.
The Reward: The Road to Mistlands

The 3 Torn Spirits are a progression gate. They are used to craft the Sealbreaker, which is the key that opens The Queen — and therefore the whole Mistlands boss chain. Yagluth is the last of the five classic bosses and the door to everything after them.
The Yagluth Trophy grants a Forsaken Power:
50% Lightning resistance, +25 Farm skill, and 10% increased damage.
The 10% increased damage is general, not elemental — it applies to everything you do, which makes this the default combat power for the late game. The +25 Farm skill is an odd inclusion that nonetheless saves a genuine grind, and the 50% Lightning resistance matters in the Mistlands.
Hang the trophy at the Sacrificial Stones, and resummon — with four altars each 3000 metres apart, a second Vegvisir may well reveal a closer one than the first.
How to Beat Yagluth
- Clear Fuling Villages for 5 Fuling Totems. Treat this as the harder half of the encounter.
- Brew Fire Resistance Barley Wine. Non-negotiable, and bring spares.
- Leave the bow-and-fire-arrow loadout behind. Pierce is ×0.25, Fire is ×0.5.
- Bring Frost Arrows and a Blackmetal melee weapon — both neutral.
- Stay outside 10 metres and the Nova never fires.
- Keep moving so the telegraphed Meteors miss.
- Expect a long fight. 10,000 health with no weakness multiplier takes time.
- Take the trophy to the Sacrificial Stones.
Practical tips
- 10,000 health and no weakness — the longest boss fight in the game by design.
- Pierce ×0.25 and Fire ×0.5. Your Draugr Fang and fire arrows are the wrong tools here.
- Frost, Lightning, Blunt, Slash and Spirit are all neutral — pick any of them.
- Fire Resistance Barley Wine covers all three of its attacks.
- The Nova only triggers inside 10 metres. Staying out removes its biggest hit.
- 3 Torn Spirits build the Sealbreaker, which opens The Queen and the Mistlands.
Running your own Valheim server
Yagluth is a gear check and a logistics check at once — Fuling villages for totems, barley for wine, and a group that all needs to be present. A gamever Valheim server keeps the world live for up to 10 players so the totem runs, the brewing and the fight can happen across different evenings without a host holding the save hostage. One-click backups and automatic updates protect a world five bosses deep.
Conclusion
Yagluth has 10,000 health — the largest pool in Valheim — and no weakness whatsoever. Blunt, Slash, Frost, Lightning and Spirit are all neutral, Fire is resisted at ×0.5 and Pierce at ×0.25, so the bow-and-fire-arrow loadout that carried you through The Elder and Moder is the worst possible choice here. Summon it with 5 Fuling Totems at one of four Plains altars set 3000 metres apart. All three of its attacks — the 20-projectile Beam, the 10 Meteors at 40 Blunt + 120 Fire each, and the Nova at 65 Fire + 65 Lightning plus 100 lingering — are fire-based, which makes Fire Resistance Barley Wine mandatory, and the Nova only fires within 10 metres, so range removes its hardest hit. The reward is 3 Torn Spirits for the Sealbreaker that opens The Queen and the Mistlands, plus a Forsaken Power granting 50% Lightning resistance, +25 Farm skill and a flat 10% damage increase.
