Every Named Quest in Dragonwilds (& Which Rewards Are Worth It)

RuneScape: Dragonwilds has accumulated a lot of quests, most of them named after Old School RuneScape classics, and they arrive faster than anyone tracks — Jagex ship them in monthly minor updates from a dedicated Quests and Activities team. Most reward cosmetics. Four reward items that genuinely change how you play, and those are the ones to do first. Here is the full index.
Progression Quests
| Quest | What it does |
|---|---|
| Growing Pains | Early quest — starting it blocks initiating Dragon Slayer until completed |
| Dragon Slayer | Gates Fellhollow — complete it, then speak to the Wise Old Man |
| The Wild Hunt | In Fellhollow — rewards the Terrorbird mount |
| Saga of the Adventurer | A multi-step quest with map search areas |
| Icthlarin's Little Helper | Umbral Sands' main quest — unlocks the region's side quests |
| Contact! | Umbral Sands |
| Mapping the Sands I | Umbral Sands |
| Beast in the Sand | Umbral Sands |
| Rogue Trader | Umbral Sands — involves a Moonstone |
| Moon Garou quests | Umbral Sands — reward the Magic Carpet mount |
Growing Pains is worth knowing about because of an ordering trap. Jagex fixed "an issue that prevented players initiating the 'Dragon Slayer' Quest if they started 'Growing Pains' but have not yet completed it." If Dragon Slayer will not start for you, finish Growing Pains first.
The Wild Hunt is the mount quest, and there is a gotcha attached: "You will need to complete The Wild Hunt quest in Fellhollow to access the mount even if you unlock customisation options." A mount skin from a drop does not give you a mount — until the quest is done, you may see a defunct mount prompt on your HUD.
Region Quest Sets

Dowdun Reach (0.11) — four at once, all RuneScape classics:
- Black Knight's Fortress
- Wanted!
- Biohazard
- What's Theirs Is Mine
Fellhollow-era minor updates:
| Update | Quests |
|---|---|
| 0.10.1 | Doric's Quest, Things That Go Boom in the Night |
| 0.10.2 | What Remains is Written, Letters For The Dead, Mirror, Mirror |
| 0.11.1 | Cook's Assistant, Animal Magnetism, A Room With Garou |
| 0.11.2 | A Melody Remembered |
| 0.12.1 | The Great Body Robbery |
Jagex's own summaries are worth reading for what they tell you about location:
- What Remains is Written — "Late book fees aren't the worst thing that could happen to you. Your apprenticeship starts here."
- Letters For The Dead — "A familiar friend is looking for some body to lend him a hand" — Death, presumably, given his shop is in Fellhollow. Completing it unlocks an additional activity.
- Mirror, Mirror — "An ominous cry beckons the curious deep in the heart of Fellhollow where Green Dragons reign supreme."
- A Melody Remembered — "A mysterious jewellery box lays on an abandoned desk in the Stormtouched Highlands. There's a riddle printed on the lid, and a strange recess in it." Rewards a new piece of equipment.
- Shrimp Catcher — a Brynmoor quest that contributes to the "Brynmoor Helper" achievement.
Icthlarin's Little Helper is the one to prioritise in the desert, because it is the region's main quest and completing its side quests is the fastest early source of Garou Chits — the Moon Garou currency the region's three merchants trade in. Doing them before you start hoarding materials means you can actually buy things.
One quest giver worth naming: Lagra, Alcarrid's Butcher. Jagex fixed an issue where completing her quest "would not yield rewards if the player's inventory was full", and a known issue notes she "will not accept quest items if the player's inventory is full." Empty a few slots before turning anything in to her — the failure is silent.
Two more Umbral Sands quest quirks, both documented: the Sand VFX trail for "Beast in the Sand" is not visible for clients in multiplayer, and during Rogue Trader, "if the player has picked up a Moonstone prior to the quest the map icons can show incorrectly."
The Four Rewards Worth Prioritising

1. Animal Magnetism — the Arrow Grabba. Manktongue the Goblin finds "an advert in a bottle with a recipe for something he calls the 'Arrow Grabba'." You place it on your back and it accumulates arrows you have fired within a radius around you.
If anyone in your group plays Ranged, this is the first quest to do. Recovering spent ammunition is the single biggest running saving available to the build — every arrow picked back up is one you did not mine, smelt, forge and fletch.
2. Cook's Assistant — the Victoria Sponge Cake. "Slopfinger, the overworked Goblin, is desperate to make an impression. A cake should do the trick." The recipe grants a 5-minute buff reducing Fatigue drain by 25%.
Note its tooltip does not display — Jagex list that as a known issue. The buff works regardless.
3. The Great Body Robbery — the Pylon. Jagex's "longest Secondary Quest to date", in Bloodblight Swamp, involving "the Good\ Doctor\ Fenkenstrain" (their asterisks). It rewards "a new club weapon that's shockingly good" and the Pylon — a buildable decoration that intercepts lightning strikes in a radius, making storm-prone building sites viable.
4. The Wild Hunt — the Terrorbird. Your first mount, and the prerequisite for using any mount skin you find.
The Rest, and How They Arrive

Quests arrive on a schedule. Jagex staffed for it — 0.10.1 carried a "Big shout out to the Quests and Activities team who have joined the Dragonwilds team to help make more of these updates possible" — and the intent is monthly: "We aim to deliver these Minor Updates month on month… while other parts of the Dragonwilds team are building out our next expansion."
They are explicitly not a substitute for the big releases: "they aren't replacing our major updates every quarter!"
Most rewards are cosmetic, and Jagex are open about that being the point — "you'll be able to snag rewards like new gear, capes and decorations to celebrate your progress." The Chinchompa Cape came from activity completion in 0.10.1.
On a shared server, cosmetics are worth more than they sound. Capes, Agility Gold Medals and Fishing Trophies from Pristine Fish all hang on Cape Racks and Weapon Racks — visible to everyone who visits your base, and lockable to Private so nobody walks off with them.
The naming is deliberate. Jagex confirmed the intent behind the RuneScape callbacks: "new quests that channel the classic RuneScape feeling that you've been asking for — we heard you!" If a quest name sounds familiar, it is meant to.
Two known issues worth recognising so you do not think you have broken something: "Contact!" and "Mapping the Sands I" show two named rewards on the UI instead of one, and the Chamber barrier in Contact! is invisible at low and medium graphics settings.
Practical tips
- Finish Growing Pains before trying to start Dragon Slayer.
- Dragon Slayer gates Fellhollow — then speak to the Wise Old Man.
- Do Animal Magnetism first if anyone plays Ranged. The Arrow Grabba pays for itself.
- The Wild Hunt gives your first mount — and a mount skin is useless without it.
- Cook's Assistant gives a −25% Fatigue drain buff whose tooltip is invisible.
- The Great Body Robbery gives the Pylon, which makes storm-prone build sites viable.
- Quests arrive monthly from a dedicated team, between the quarterly major updates.
Running your own RuneScape: Dragonwilds server
Quests are progress that persists — a completed questline, an unlocked mount and a cape on the wall are all things that stay true for the whole group on a shared world, rather than living in one person's save. A gamever Dragonwilds server keeps that progress available around the clock for up to six players, updates automatically so client and server versions never drift apart, and takes one-click backups before disruptive changes.
Conclusion
Dragonwilds' quests split into a progression spine — Growing Pains (finish it before Dragon Slayer will start), Dragon Slayer (which gates Fellhollow), The Wild Hunt (your first mount), and the Umbral Sands chain — and a growing library of side quests named after Old School RuneScape classics, delivered monthly by a dedicated Quests and Activities team. Most rewards are cosmetic, and on a shared server that is fine because they hang on your Cape and Weapon Racks where people see them. But four are worth doing early: Animal Magnetism for the Arrow Grabba that recovers spent arrows, Cook's Assistant for a 25% Fatigue drain reduction, The Great Body Robbery for the Pylon that intercepts lightning, and The Wild Hunt for the Terrorbird — without which no mount skin you find will work.
