Every Crossbow in Dragonwilds: Eight, and Four of Them Are Duplicates

A ranged fight in Dragonwilds.

Dragonwilds has eight crossbows, and reading their damage figures reveals something the list does not: they come in four pairs, each pair sharing an identical damage number. The Blurite and Iron crossbows both deal 36. The Shadow and Mithril both deal 61. In every pair the plain metal one is the straight craft, and the other is a quest or vestige unlock with a special effect attached.

The Eight Crossbows

Card ranking Dragonwilds' crossbows by damage.

CrossbowDamagePowerDurability
Adamant Crossbow7671600
Mithril Crossbow6161600
Shadow Crossbow6161600
Steel Crossbow4951300
Dorgeshuun Crossbow4951300
Iron Crossbow364
Blurite Crossbow364816
Bronze Crossbow253850

The Adamant Crossbow at power 7 is the only unpaired one at the top — there is no special-effect crossbow above Mithril, so the endgame ranged choice is between it and the Yew Longbow's 101.

Durability follows the usual ladder — 850 at power 3, 1300 at power 5, 1600 at power 6 and 7 — with one glaring exception.

The Blurite Crossbow's durability is 816. Every other crossbow has a round figure; this one does not — which is consistent with its listed −25% durability penalty, the counterweight to its −25% reload duration bonus.

The Pairs Are Not Duplicates

Dorgeshuun CrossbowQuest: Even More Restless Ghosts
Shadow CrossbowIncreased weak point damage, slower fire rateSinister mechanism vestige

The Blurite Crossbow is the clearest trade in the game. Same 36 damage as the Iron Crossbow, fires 25% faster, breaks 25% sooner. On a long expedition that is a bad deal; on a short high-intensity fight it is a straight upgrade. You are trading repairs for rate of fire.

The Shadow Crossbow trades in the opposite directionslower fire rate for increased weak point damage. That makes it the precision option, and it pairs with the Ranged skill's trick shot mechanics rather than with volume fire.

So the two special crossbows are opposites: Blurite is faster and more fragile, Shadow is slower and more precise. Both sit alongside a plain metal crossbow of identical damage, which means choosing between them is entirely about play style rather than progression.

The Dorgeshuun Crossbow is the quest one, from Even More Restless Ghosts, and it matches the Steel Crossbow exactly.

Both Blurite and Shadow are vestige unlocks, which puts them in the same system as the 110 vestiges — the Shadow Crossbow specifically wants the sinister mechanism.

Crossbow Against Bow

Card comparing Dragonwilds crossbows to the bow families.

The wiki places crossbows between the two bow families. They "fire their shots in closer range compared to the shortbow variants, but can fire more rapid and successive shots than the shortbows."

Put the power-7 options side by side and the shape is clear:

WeaponDamage at power 7
Yew Longbow101
Adamant Crossbow76
Yew Shortbow59

The crossbow sits neatly between them — more damage than the shortbow, less than the longbow, with a fire rate that beats both shortbows and a range that beats neither.

Which makes the choice a positioning question. A longbow wants distance; a crossbow wants a mid-range engagement where its rate of fire matters more than reach.

And all of them are made at the fletching bench, alongside bows, arrows and fishing rods — so a ranged build lives at one station.

Bolts are the other half of the calculation, and as our bolts guide covers, they follow the same power-level ladder — an Adamant Bolt is 76, matching the Adamant Crossbow exactly.

Practical tips

  • Eight crossbows, in four damage pairs plus the unpaired Adamant at 76.
  • The Blurite Crossbow's 816 durability is the −25% penalty made visible.
  • Blurite: −25% reload, −25% durability — repairs traded for rate of fire.
  • Shadow: increased weak point damage, slower fire rate — the opposite trade.
  • Dorgeshuun comes from Even More Restless Ghosts; Blurite and Shadow from vestiges.
  • Adamant Crossbow 76 sits between the Yew Shortbow's 59 and Yew Longbow's 101.
  • All are made at the fletching bench.
  • Match your bolt tier to the crossbow — an Adamant Bolt is also 76.

Conclusion

Dragonwilds' eight crossbows resolve into four damage pairs plus the unpaired Adamant Crossbow (76, power 7, durability 1600). In each pair the plain metal version is the straight craft and the other is an unlock with an effect: the Blurite Crossbow trades −25% durability for −25% reload duration — which is why its durability is the un-round 816 — the Shadow Crossbow trades a slower fire rate for increased weak point damage, and the Dorgeshuun Crossbow comes from the Even More Restless Ghosts quest with no effect at all. The two special crossbows are exact opposites in intent, so the choice is play style rather than progression. As a class, crossbows sit between the bows: the Adamant Crossbow's 76 falls between the Yew Shortbow's 59 and the Yew Longbow's 101, with a faster rate than either shortbow and less reach than a longbow.
