Best Endgame Gear in Palworld 1.0: Armor, Shields & Loadout

By the time you are clearing the World Tree and the Sky Islands, your weapon matters less than whether you survive long enough to use it. Palworld 1.0's endgame gear tier is small but sharply differentiated — three body armors that each solve a different problem, two self-repairing shields, and a couple of mobility items that punch far above their tech cost. This guide covers what to wear, what it costs, and the exact order to unlock it in.

The Ancient Armor Tier

All three endgame body armors share the same defense curve — 840 Defense at Common up to 1,092 at Legendary — and all three are crafted at the Ancient Workbench. They differ entirely in their effects, so you pick by destination, not by number.

Armor Tech Level Defense Effect
Heat-Resistant Ancient Armor 75 840 – 1,092 Heat Resistance Lv. 3, Cold Resistance Lv. 2, Fire Damage Reduction Lv. 1, Attack Up (S) Lv. 1–4 by rarity
Cold-Resistant Ancient Armor 77 840 – 1,092 Cold Resistance Lv. 3, Heat Resistance Lv. 2, Ice Damage Reduction Lv. 1, Attack Up (S) Lv. 1–4 by rarity
Lightweight Ancient Armor 79 840 – 1,092 Cold Resistance Lv. 2, Heat Resistance Lv. 2, Increased Max Carrying Capacity Lv. 4

The important detail most players miss: every one of these gives you Attack Up or a carrying bonus on top of defense. These are not purely defensive pieces. The Heat- and Cold-Resistant versions scale Attack Up (S) from Lv. 1 to Lv. 4 with rarity, which means a Legendary craft is meaningfully stronger offensively than a Common one, not just tankier.

Which to wear:

  • Volcanic and desert biomes — Heat-Resistant. Heat Lv. 3 plus Fire Damage Reduction is the difference between fighting and slowly dying to the environment.
  • Frozen zones — Cold-Resistant. Cold Lv. 3 and Ice Damage Reduction, same logic in reverse.
  • Everything else, and every long expedition — Lightweight. Lv. 2 in both resistances covers moderate climates, and Carrying Capacity Lv. 4 means you come home with a full haul instead of abandoning ore in a cave. Its full spread also scales hardest with rarity: Common sits at Defense 840 / HP 2,400 / Durability 25,000, climbing to Legendary at Defense 1,092 / HP 3,120 / Durability 100,000.

Cap it off with the Ancient Helm (Technology Level 68), which runs 500 Defense at Common up to 650 at Legendary and adds Neutral and Dragon damage resistance — useful given how many Dragons 1.0 threw at the endgame.

Shields: Advanced vs Ancient

Shield Tech Level Shield HP Notes
Advanced Shield 60 1,800 Self-repairs after a period without taking damage
Ancient Shield 71 2,200 Durability 22,000, Legendary (Rank 4), weight 5, self-repairs

Both regenerate on their own once you have avoided damage for a while, which effectively gives you a second health bar that refills between fights. The Ancient Shield's 2,200 shield HP is a 22% jump over the Advanced Shield, and it is worth the eleven extra technology levels — but the Advanced Shield at Tech 60 is available a long time earlier and is the single biggest survivability upgrade in the pre-ancient bracket.

Note that the Advanced Shield can be built at the Production Assembly Line II, an Advanced Workshop, or the Ancient Workbench, so you are not gated on the ancient station to get it.

Mobility: Two Cheap Items You Should Not Skip

  • Giga Glider — Technology Level 40. Speed 80, Stamina Drain 12, Uncommon (Rank 3), weight 20. The best glider in the game and available absurdly early relative to its usefulness. In a 1.0 map with Sky Islands and a World Tree, gliding down is a constant activity.
  • Homeward Thundercloud — Technology Level 22. A consumable that returns you home, weight 1, stacks to 9,999. Beyond crafting it, you can get x3 from completing the mission "Give a Fuack", and the Desert Town Ambassador sells between x1 and x5. Carry a stack permanently — it turns every overloaded mining trip into a free trip home.

Your Full Endgame Loadout

Slot Pick
Head Ancient Helm (Tech 68)
Body — hot biome Heat-Resistant Ancient Armor (Tech 75)
Body — cold biome Cold-Resistant Ancient Armor (Tech 77)
Body — general / hauling Lightweight Ancient Armor (Tech 79)
Shield Ancient Shield (Tech 71), or Advanced Shield (Tech 60) until then
Glider Giga Glider (Tech 40)
Always carry Homeward Thundercloud (Tech 22)

Keep two body armors in your chest, not one. Swapping between the Heat- and Cold-Resistant versions by destination costs nothing and saves you the environmental damage that quietly ruins long trips.

What Gates All of It

Almost none of this is craftable until your material chain is running. The prerequisites, in the order they matter:

  • Ancient Workbench — Technology Level 67. The station nearly all endgame gear is built at. Unlock it before any armor.
  • Soralite Ingot — Technology Level 66. The backbone metal for the ancient armor tier.
  • Paloxite Ingot — Technology Level 74. The top-tier metal, mostly for weapons but part of the late chain.
  • AI Core — Technology Level 67. Ancient components used across gear and weapons.
  • Carbon Fiber — Technology Level 35 and Bio Battery — Technology Level 44. Both unlock far earlier than you will need them; get them out of the way while the point cost is low.

Practical tips

  • Rarity is worth more than it looks. Legendary armor is not just +252 Defense over Common — it also carries higher Attack Up (S) and, on the Lightweight version, four times the durability.
  • Unlock the Ancient Workbench at Tech 67 before anything it builds. Buying an armor recipe you cannot craft yet is a wasted point for hours.
  • The Advanced Shield at Tech 60 is the best value survivability item in the game. Do not wait for the Ancient Shield to start using one.
  • Pair Lightweight Ancient Armor with a Pal that boosts durability — Tetroise Primo raises weapon and armor durability by 80–100% while in your party — and expeditions stop being limited by repairs.

Running your own Palworld 1.0 server

Everything on this list depends on a production chain that only pays off if it keeps running. On a dedicated Palworld 1.0 server your furnaces, assembly lines and refineries keep turning ore into Soralite and Paloxite Ingots while you are logged off, so the ancient tier arrives in days rather than weeks. Full crossplay lets your whole group feed the same chain from any platform, and one-click backups plus automatic updates make sure a patch never wipes out the stockpile you built for that Legendary craft.

Conclusion

Palworld 1.0's endgame gear comes down to a short checklist: Ancient Helm on your head, the climate-appropriate Ancient Armor on your body — with Lightweight as the default for its Carrying Capacity Lv. 4 — and the Ancient Shield for a self-repairing 2,200 HP buffer. Get the Advanced Shield and Giga Glider long before that, because both are cheap and both immediately change how you play. And unlock the Ancient Workbench at Technology Level 67 first, because nothing else in this tier exists without it.
