Automated Mining & Logging in Palworld 1.0: Every Site from Stone Pit to Soralite Quarry

Card listing Palworld's eight mining sites and two logging sites with technology levels.

There is a point in every Palworld run where you stop mining ore by hand. It arrives at Technology 24, with the Ore Mining Site — a structure that produces ore continuously as long as a Mining Pal is assigned to it. Palworld 1.0 extends that idea all the way to Technology 72, with eight mining and quarry sites plus two logging sites covering nearly every raw material in the game. This is the full ladder, what each one costs, and the hidden price all of them charge.

Nine of the ten need only Mining or Lumbering at level 1. There is no minimum tier — any Pal with the suitability can work any site. Level determines speed, not eligibility.

The Bootstrap Cost

Card explaining that late-game mines cost 100 units of the very resource they produce.

Look at the build costs from the Coal Mine onward and a pattern appears immediately:

  • Coal Mine costs 100 Coal.
  • Sulfur Mine costs 100 Sulfur.
  • Pure Quartz Quarry costs 100 Pure Quartz.
  • Hexolite Quartz Mine costs 100 Hexolite Quartz.
  • Soralite Quarry costs 100 Soralite.

Every one of them charges 100 units of the exact material it produces. You cannot build your way out of hand-mining — you have to hand-mine 100 units first, and only then does the site take over.

That is worth planning for, because it means each of these unlocks is really a mining expedition, not a build. When you hit Technology 52 and want the Pure Quartz Quarry, budget a trip to gather 100 Pure Quartz before the structure is available to you at all.

The two logging sites work the same way in spirit: Logging Site II costs 100 Hardwood, which is itself a drop rather than a base product — Mossanda drops Hardwood at 1 – 3 with a 100% rate, which makes it one of the more convenient routes.

The exception is the early pair. Stone Pit and Logging Site, both at Technology 7, cost only common Stone, Wood and Paldium Fragment. They are the cheapest automation in the game and there is no reason to delay them — a Stone Pit at Technology 7 removes stone gathering from your life permanently.

The Hidden Cost: SAN

Card showing that extraction sites drain Pal sanity faster than crafting benches.

Every base structure drains the SAN (sanity) of the Pal working it, and the rate is not uniform:

Structure typeSAN drain
All ten extraction sites-0.15
Mill, Crusher, Primitive Workbench-0.11

Extraction work drains sanity about 36% faster than crafting work. Every mine, quarry, pit and logging site in the game sits at -0.15, from the Technology 7 Stone Pit to the Technology 72 Soralite Quarry — the rate does not worsen with tier, but it is the highest bracket from the very start.

That matters because a Pal whose SAN falls far enough stops working, starts wandering, and eventually becomes depressed. A base built around mining will hit that wall sooner than a base built around workbenches.

The counters are the standard base-comfort ones, and they are not optional on a mining base:

  • A Hot Spring. The Ancient Hot Spring is the endgame version and restores SAN considerably faster.
  • Pal Beds, so Pals actually recover overnight.
  • A stocked Feed Box — hunger and SAN interact, and a hungry Pal loses sanity faster.
  • Cooked food rather than raw. Raw ingredients restore 0 SAN; cooked dishes restore between 1 and 23. Feeding your mining crew Red Berries is feeding them nothing that helps.

Assign more Pals than you think you need. Rotation is cheaper than recovery — a mine with three Mining Pals will out-produce a mine with one, and each individual Pal spends less time at the site.

Which Pals to Assign

Card listing the best Mining and Lumbering Pals to assign to extraction sites.

Since every site accepts any Pal with the right suitability, the only question is throughput.

For Lumbering, the top-rated Pal in the game is Eikthyrdeer Terra, with Hartalis next. Among the 1.0 additions, Celesdir Noct is the standout and is enough on its own to keep a Logging Site II saturated. Mossanda covers Lumbering alongside three other jobs if you want one Pal doing several things.

For Mining, the top rated are Tetroise Primo, Blazamut, Blazamut Ryu and Aegidron, followed by Knocklem, Knocklem Ignis and Pierdon. If you have any of those, they belong on your best mine — and Blazamut doubles as the game's best Coal source at 10 per kill.

The site does not care about the Pal's combat stats at all. A Pal you would never take into a fight is a perfectly good miner — assign whatever your roster's highest Mining rating is.

    Two structural points worth knowing:

  • Ore Mining Site II does not replace Ore Mining Site. Both produce ore; the second is a higher-throughput version. If you have the space and the Pals, running both is better than upgrading.
  • The quarries are gated behind materials, not just tech. Pure Quartz at Technology 52, Hexolite Quartz at 62, Soralite at 72 — these track the ancient-technology tier of the game, and each output feeds a specific chain. Pure Quartz becomes Circuit Board → Computer → AI Core; Soralite becomes Soralite Ingot, which the Ancient Workbench consumes 50 of.

Practical tips

  • Build the Stone Pit and Logging Site at Technology 7. Cheapest automation in the game, no reason to wait.
  • Every late mine costs 100 units of what it produces — hand-mine that first, then build.
  • All extraction sites drain SAN at -0.15, the highest bracket. Crafting benches are -0.11.
  • A mining base needs a Hot Spring and Pal Beds more than a crafting base does.
  • Raw food restores 0 SAN. Cook for your mining crew or they will burn out.
  • Ore Mining Site II is an addition, not an upgrade — run both.

Running your own Palworld 1.0 server

Extraction sites are pure passive income: they produce while Pals are assigned and nothing at all while your game is closed. That makes them the strongest argument for a persistent world — a Soralite Quarry running overnight is the difference between an endgame build being weeks away and days away. A gamever Palworld 1.0 server keeps every mine, quarry and logging site working around the clock, supports full crossplay so a group can share one base, and protects the result with one-click backups and automatic updates.

Conclusion

Palworld 1.0 has ten automated extraction siteseight mining and quarry structures plus two logging sites — running from the Technology 7 Stone Pit to the Technology 72 Soralite Quarry. Every one needs only level 1 suitability, so any Mining or Lumbering Pal qualifies and level simply sets speed. Two things are worth planning around: every site from the Coal Mine onward costs 100 units of the very material it produces, so each unlock is really a gathering trip; and all ten drain Pal SAN at -0.15, the highest rate in the game and noticeably worse than the -0.11 of crafting benches. Build the early pair immediately, budget the bootstrap materials for the later ones, and give a mining base the Hot Spring, beds and cooked food it needs to keep running.
