Wanted! in Dragonwilds: Three Beast Tamers, and Their Journals Are the Objective

Wanted! sends you after three Black Knights in Dowdun Reach — the Rat Master, the Hound Master and the Summoner — each of whom has taken control of a different kind of demonic creature. The objective is not the kill. It is their training journals, and each one is sitting somewhere specific after the fight is over.
Quest Details

| Field | Detail |
|---|---|
| Type | Secondary |
| Start | Speak to Vannaka in Dowdun Reach, by the tent in front of The Library |
| Requires | Partial completion of Black Knight's Fortress |
| Recommended | Tier-appropriate armour and weapons, food |
| Enemies | Summoner Flament + Delrom; Houndmaster Rexiton + Fido, Gnasher, Lurch, Rufus, Tiny; Rat Master Skrexis + Boggs, Curly, Nosey, Patch, Pip, Reek |
| Reward | Corroded jewellery vestige, required to create the unholy symbol |
The three targets can be tackled in any order, and each is a genuine multi-enemy fight rather than a single boss. The Rat Master brings six named rats and the Hound Master five named hounds — those packs are the fight, not the tamer.
Getting Started
Vannaka is by the tent in front of The Library, shortly after you enter Dowdun Reach. He explains that three Black Knights have each gained control over different demonic creatures and asks for their training journals.
Ask him about each target before you leave. Vannaka provides background on all three beast tamers on request, which is optional but gives you the shape of each encounter before you walk into it.
The Rat Master

Head south-west from Vannaka to The Menagerie. The route runs through The Library, and there is a lesser blue dragon guarding the entrance to The Menagerie that has to be dealt with before you can go further.
Rat Master Skrexis is on a ledge at the end of the lower path, surrounded by his hellrats — Boggs, Curly, Nosey, Patch, Pip and Reek. The lore is that he was a reclusive knight with terrible hygiene who attracted vermin wherever he went, and the corruption deepened the bond.
The journal is on a rock directly behind where he was standing, to the left of the statue. Interact with it to read it or take pages.
Note the blue dragon on the way. A Blue Dragon in Dowdun Reach has 4,000 health at power level 6, is weak to Water, and resists Fire and Ranged — so this leg of the quest wants a Water option and specifically punishes an archer.
The Hound Master
Make your way to The Garrison and descend to the lower floors of the forward building.
Philius Rexiton was a noble with a love for dogs before the corruption took him. He now commands a pack of hellhounds in the dungeons below — Fido, Gnasher, Lurch, Rufus and Tiny.
The walkthrough is blunt about the difficulty:
This is a crowded fight — you'll be dealing with Rexiton and his entire pack at once.
There is no way to pull them separately. Manage the hellhounds while keeping pressure on Rexiton himself. Afterwards, the journal is in the central kennel.
The Summoner
Summoner Flament comes with Delrom, and is the smallest of the three encounters by enemy count — one tamer and one creature, against the Hound Master's six and the Rat Master's seven.
That does not necessarily make it the easiest fight, but it does make it the most predictable one: fewer things to track and no pack to manage.
Returning to Vannaka
Once all three journals are collected, return to Vannaka. The reward is a corroded jewellery vestige, which is required to create the unholy symbol.
That makes this quest a prerequisite in practice as well as a standalone: the vestige is not a trophy, it is a component, and the unholy symbol it enables sits downstream in Dowdun Reach's content.
What to Bring

- Crush weapons for the Black Knights. The Dowdun Reach garrison broadly resists Slash and Stab and is weak to Crush, so a mace is the region's default.
- A Water option for the blue dragon blocking The Menagerie — it resists Fire and Ranged and is weak to Water.
- Do not plan on out-shooting anything here. The blue dragon resists Ranged and the Black Knight Sniper resists both Bolts and Arrows, so Dowdun Reach is an unfriendly region for an archer generally.
- Expect crowds. Two of the three fights are one tamer plus five or six named creatures.
- Search after every kill. The journals are objects in the world — on a rock, in a kennel — not drops on the corpse.

Conclusion
Wanted! starts with Vannaka by the tent in front of The Library in Dowdun Reach and needs partial completion of Black Knight's Fortress. It sends you after three beast tamers in any order, and the objective is their training journals rather than the kills. Rat Master Skrexis waits on a ledge at the end of the lower path in The Menagerie, reached through The Library and past a lesser blue dragon — his journal sits on a rock behind where he stood, left of the statue, and he brings six named hellrats. Houndmaster Rexiton is in the lower floors of The Garrison's forward building with five named hellhounds that cannot be pulled separately; his journal is in the central kennel. Summoner Flament comes with only Delrom, making it the smallest encounter of the three. Bring Crush for the knights and a Water option for the blue dragon, and leave the bow behind — it resists Ranged, and the region's snipers resist Bolts and Arrows too. The reward, a corroded jewellery vestige, is a component for the unholy symbol rather than an end in itself.
