V Rising Max Players: Slots, Sizing and Upgrading

 

    How many people can play on your V Rising server at once? That's the player slot count, shown on the Overview tab as Players (0/20 by default on gamever). This guide explains where the slot count comes from, how to size it to your group, and how to add more capacity.

 

Where the slot count lives

 

    Two places show and set it:

 

• Overview → Players shows the live count, e.g. 0/20 — current players over the maximum.

 

 

• ServerHostSettings.json → MaxConnectedUsers is the actual maximum. Edit it in the File Manager or over FTP to change how many players can connect — see the config guide. There's also MaxConnectedAdmins for reserved admin slots.

 

    To change the cap: Stop the server, set MaxConnectedUsers, Start it again.

 

Sizing your slots to your plan

 

    More slots means more work for the server, so the slot count and your plan need to match:

 

Group	Guidance
Solo / duo	Comfortable on a modest plan.
Small clan (up to ~8)	A middle plan handles it well.
Large server (10–20+)	Needs real CPU and RAM headroom — V Rising simulates every castle and clan.

 

    Setting 20 slots on a small plan just gives you a laggy 20 — size the plan to how many actually play at once, not the theoretical maximum. Watch the Overview → Usage meters with your group online (see fixing lag).

 

Adding capacity

 

• Raise the cap in MaxConnectedUsers (config JSON).
• Add resources with Upgrade server on the Overview tab if CPU/RAM run hot with the group on.

 

    Do both together: a higher slot count only plays well if the plan behind it has the power to back it.

 

Additional Tips

 

• 0/20 is the default — the /20 is your current cap, editable in MaxConnectedUsers.
• Change slots with the server stopped, then start — see the config guide.
• Size the plan to your real concurrent count, not the maximum you'll never hit.
• Watch Usage on Overview when full; Upgrade server if it's maxed.
• Reserve admin slots with MaxConnectedAdmins so staff can always get in.
