The Legendary Multiplier in Palworld Is Not Fixed: 1.2x to 5.25x, and It Falls With Tech Level

A weapon workbench in Palworld.

Everybody knows a Legendary schematic beats a Common one. Almost nobody knows by how much — and the answer is not a constant. Across the 46 weapons that publish a full Common-to-Legendary ladder, the multiplier runs from 1.2x to 5.25x, and it falls as technology level rises.

The correlation between a weapon's technology level and its legendary multiplier is −0.579. In plain terms: the older the weapon, the more a legendary schematic is worth.

The Numbers

Card comparing legendary multipliers by technology level in Palworld.

GroupWeaponsAverage Legendary multiplier
Technology below 4015x2.37
Technology 60 and above15x1.26

That is the whole finding in two rows. A legendary roll on an early-game weapon adds roughly 137% to its attack; the same roll on a late-game weapon adds roughly 26%.

Twelve weapons sit at exactly 1.2x, and they are almost all the endgame list: Energy Shotgun, Overheat Rifle, Charge Rifle, Mechanical Bow, Prototype Shotgun, Heavy Assault Rifle, Tactical Grenade Launcher, Laser Sword, Beam Scatter, Drone Launcher, Plasma Rifle and the Beam Launcher.

The extremes are worth naming. The Meteor Launcher at technology 38 runs 2,000 Common to 10,500 Legendary — x5.25, the largest jump in the game. The Old Bow at technology 3 runs 65 to 247 — x3.8.

What This Means for Farming Schematics

The practical inversion is uncomfortable but real: the weapons you most want a legendary schematic for are the ones you are about to replace.

  • A Legendary Heavy Assault Rifle is 1,938 against a Common 1,615+323 attack.
  • A Legendary Musket is 2,000 against a Common 1,000+1,000 attack, on a weapon available at technology 21.
  • A Legendary Single-Shot Rifle at technology 36 is 2,310 against 1,100x2.1, and that beats the Legendary Heavy Assault Rifle's raw per-shot number outright.

So do not defer weapon schematics until endgame. The mid-game rifles gain far more from rarity than the Soralite tier does, and they are usable for the entire stretch where you actually need them.

And do not over-chase legendary rolls on the top tier. At 1.2x, the difference between a Common and a Legendary Beam Launcher is 14,000 against 16,800 — real, but not worth a hundred dungeon runs when a Common one already clears content.

The Handful of Exceptions

The correlation is −0.579, not −1.0, and the gap is made of four notable outliers:

WeaponTechMultiplierWhy it stands out
Meteor Launcher38x5.252,000 to 10,500 — the largest in the game
Combat SMG68x1.75The only late weapon on an early multiplier
Core Eject Shotgun56x2.5An ULTRAKILL collab weapon on handgun scaling
Rocket Launcher65x1.4Above its neighbours' flat 1.2x

The Combat SMG is the one to act on. At technology 68 it is a genuine endgame weapon, and it still pays 1.75x907 Common to 1,587 Legendary. That is a +680 attack swing on a weapon you will keep, where the Heavy Assault Rifle two technology levels later pays less than half that.

The collab weapons follow their own rules. Both ULTRAKILL guns — Marksman Revolver and Core Eject Shotgun — scale at 2.5x, the handgun rate, regardless of their technology level.

The Rates in Full

Card listing every distinct legendary multiplier rate in Palworld.

The multipliers are not continuous — they fall into a small number of rates:

RateTypical members
x1.2The twelve endgame weapons
x1.3Laser Gatling Gun, Plasma Cannon
x1.4–1.5Semi-Auto Rifle, Sword, Katana, Compound Bow, Advanced Bow, Beam Sword, Gatling Gun, Flamethrower, Grenade Launcher, Guided Missile Launcher, Metal Bat
x1.75Crossbow, Makeshift SMG, SMG, Makeshift Shotgun, Makeshift Assault Rifle, Pump-Action Shotgun, Assault Rifle, Combat SMG
x2.0–2.1Musket, Single-Shot Rifle, Double-Barreled Shotgun
x2.5Makeshift Handgun, Handgun, Old Revolver, Marksman Revolver, Core Eject Shotgun
x3.8–5.25Old Bow, Meteor Launcher
Armourx1.6 to Plasteel, x1.3 from Hexolite upward

Handguns are the most rarity-sensitive class in the game. Every pistol and revolver scales at 2.5x — the Old Revolver goes 600 to 1,500 — which makes a legendary sidearm one of the best early returns on a dungeon chest.

Armour is more disciplined than weapons. It uses 1.6x for everything up to and including Plasteel, then drops to 1.3x for Hexolite and Ancient — one clean break instead of a scatter.

A caveat on comparing across classes. The Attack figure is per shot, and it says nothing about rate of fire — which is why an Assault Rifle's 320 is not "worse" than a Musket's 1,000. Compare multipliers across weapons; compare raw attack only within a class.

Conclusion

Palworld's Legendary multiplier is not a fixed bonus. Across the 46 weapons with a full Common-to-Legendary ladder it ranges from x1.2 to x5.25, and it falls as technology level rises — a correlation of −0.579, with weapons below technology 40 averaging x2.37 and those at 60 and above averaging x1.26. Twelve endgame weapons sit at exactly x1.2, including the Charge Rifle, Heavy Assault Rifle, Beam Launcher and Mechanical Bow. The consequence is an inversion of the obvious plan: a Legendary Musket gains +1,000 attack where a Legendary Heavy Assault Rifle gains +323, so mid-game schematics are worth chasing and top-tier ones mostly are not. Four weapons break the trend — the Meteor Launcher at x5.25, the Combat SMG at x1.75 despite technology 68, the Core Eject Shotgun at x2.5, and the Rocket Launcher at x1.4 — and the handgun class scales at x2.5 across the board. Armour is tidier: x1.6 up to Plasteel, x1.3 from Hexolite on.
