The Garou Pack in Dragonwilds: Five Wolves, Four Different Weaknesses

The Garou are Dragonwilds' wolf-people, and they have been in the game since launch on 15 April 2025. What makes them awkward is not their health — the common ones sit under 300 — but that a single pack can contain four creatures with four different weaknesses. Ranged kills the Berserker, Fire kills the Druid, Air kills the Hunter, and Crush kills the Thane and the King.
All Five at a Glance

| Garou | Power level | Health | Weak to | Resistant to |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Garou Hunter | 3 (4 in Highlands) | 260 / 360 | Air | Crush |
| Garou Berserker | 3 (4 in Highlands) | 292 / 405 | Ranged | Air |
| Garou Druid | 3 (4 in Highlands) | 292 / 405 | Fire | Crush, immune Poison |
| Garou Thane | 3 / 4 | 585 / 810 | Crush | Stab |
| Garou King | 5 | 1,035 | Crush | Stab |
Notice the Berserker resists Air while the Hunter is weak to it — so an Air caster hitting a mixed pack is doing extra damage to one target and reduced damage to the one standing next to it. The Garou are the clearest argument in the game for a weapon swap mid-fight rather than a single optimal loadout.
The Two-Region Health Split
Three of the five publish two health values, and the reason is geography. Hunter, Berserker and Druid appear at power level 3 in the Fractured Plains and Bloodblight Swamp, and at power level 4 in the Stormtouched Highlands — with roughly 39% more health in the Highlands:
| Garou | Plains / Swamp | Stormtouched Highlands |
|---|---|---|
| Hunter | 260 | 360 |
| Berserker | 292 | 405 |
| Druid | 292 | 405 |
The same enemy is a different fight depending on which region you met it in. A player who learned the Garou in the Fractured Plains and then walked into the Highlands is facing creatures with the same name, the same model and the same weaknesses, hitting a bar that is nearly half again as long.
The Garou King is Highlands-only at power level 5, and the Thane spans both tiers at 585 and 810.
The Druid Is the Priority Target

The wiki is unusually direct about the Druid, and the advice is worth taking literally:
Players are recommended to drink an antipoison potion before attacking a Garou Druid. The poisoned magic dart is among the most dangerous abilities in a druid's arsenal, dealing both physical and poison damage. The most effective way to defeat a druid is to quickly close the distance, thereby limiting their attacks.
Three things follow:
- Bring antipoison before the fight, not after. Same principle as everywhere else — a resistance that is not already active when the hit lands does you no good.
- Close the gap. The Druid is a ranged attacker whose damage falls off when you are on top of it. Kiting it is exactly backwards.
- Do not answer poison with poison. The Druid is immune to Poison, so a poisoned weapon is doing only its base damage.
It is also the one Garou weak to Fire, which pairs neatly with closing distance — fire is a short-range answer in most builds anyway.
What They Drop

Every Garou drops a Garou Pack at 100%, which makes them one of the most reliable farms in the early and mid game. Beyond that the tables diverge:
| Garou | Notable extra drops |
|---|---|
| Hunter | Shrapnel 1/4, A String of Sinew 1/33.3 |
| Berserker | Remnants of a Shattered Skull 3/100 |
| Druid | Druid's Bandosian Amulet — guaranteed, but only from the Druid at the Whispering Swamp |
| Thane | A Brutal Bladehead 1/20 |
| King | Tainted King's Token — guaranteed — plus A Brutal Bladehead 1/20 |
Two entries deserve attention. The Druid's Bandosian Amulet is location-gated, not rarity-gated — it drops every time, but only from the Druid found in Druid's Cave in the Whispering Swamp. Killing a hundred Druids in the Fractured Plains will not produce one. And the Thane drops A Brutal Bladehead at 1/20, the same rate as the King — so if that is the item you want, the Thane is the far cheaper target at 585 to 810 health against the King's 1,035.

A pack that wants four different damage types is a pack that goes better with a party splitting the roles — which needs everyone in one persistent world. A gamever Dragonwilds server keeps Ashenfall running with automatic updates and one-click backups.
Conclusion
The five Garou have been in Dragonwilds since launch and are built to defeat a single loadout: the Hunter is weak to Air, the Berserker to Ranged, the Druid to Fire, and the Thane and King to Crush — while the Berserker resists the very Air the Hunter is weak to. Three of them publish two health values because they appear at power level 3 in the Fractured Plains and Bloodblight Swamp and power level 4 in the Stormtouched Highlands, gaining roughly 39% more health there — 260 to 360, 292 to 405 — so the same enemy is a genuinely different fight by region. The Druid is the priority kill: drink antipoison before engaging, close the distance to limit its poisoned magic dart, and do not bring poison, since it is immune. Every Garou drops a Garou Pack at 100%, and beyond that the Druid's Bandosian Amulet is guaranteed but only from the Whispering Swamp Druid, while A Brutal Bladehead drops at 1/20 from both Thane and King — making the Thane the cheaper source at up to 810 health against the King's 1,035.
