The Full Mining & Woodcutting Skill Trees in Dragonwilds (Every Perk)

Mining and Woodcutting were the first Dragonwilds skills filled all the way to 99, and between them they carry four separate weight reductions — because carry weight, not damage, is what actually limits a gathering session. Two of the levels Jagex announced are not where they announced them, which is worth knowing if you are planning a route from their patch notes. Here are both trees in full.
On sourcing. Jagex announced the 50–99 range in an Eye on Ashenfall post; the full trees and current levels below come from the community RuneScape: Dragonwilds wiki, and can change with any patch. Where the two disagree, we say so.
Mining, Every Level
| Level | Unlock | Type | Effect |
|---|---|---|---|
| All | Increased Mining Critical Chance | Passive | +0.5% mining crit chance per level |
| 5 | Lift With Your Hips | Passive | Stone, clay and sand weigh 25% less |
| 11 | Rocksplosion | Spell | A blast that breaks apart boulders and ore |
| 16 | Gem Prospector | Passive | Mining ore sometimes produces gemstones |
| 20 | Mine Crumbled Walls | Passive | Knock down crumbled walls for hidden access |
| 24 | Summon Stone Spirits | Spell | Guides you to the nearest mineable rocks |
| 36 | Not-So-Heavy Metal | Passive | Metal ores weigh 25% less |
| 62 | Ore & Stone Storage | Recipe | The ore and stone building piece |
| 69 | Ultimate Burst | Passive | Increased Rocksplosion area of effect |
| 71 | Ingot Weight Reduction | Passive | Ingots weigh 50% less |
| 80 | Divine Rock | Spell | Turn 5 ores on the ground into a personal vein |
| 90 | Accelerated Veins | Passive | Divine Rock gains a chance to drop gemstones |
Mine Crumbled Walls at 20 is the most overlooked entry in either tree. It is not a gathering perk at all — it "grants access to hidden or blocked areas". If a route looks sealed, your Mining level may be the key rather than a quest.
Weight reduction arrives in three stages, not one: stone, clay and sand at 5, metal ores at 36, and ingots at 71. That last one is the big one — ingots are what you carry at every later tier.
Divine Rock is a late-game spell, not an early one. At 80 it turns five loose ores into a reusable personal vein, and at 90 that vein starts dropping gemstones.
Woodcutting, Every Level

| Level | Unlock | Type | Effect |
|---|---|---|---|
| 4 | Overhead Chop | Ability | An overhead chop dealing greater damage |
| 11 | Axtral Projection | Spell | Launches an astral axe that instantly fells trees |
| 16 | Bird Nest | Passive | Bird nests can now be found while felling |
| 20 | Chop Thorny Vines | Passive | Cut thorny vines with a hatchet for access |
| 27 | Splinter | Spell | Chops fallen trees into logs |
| 40 | Lumber Storage | Recipe | High-capacity log and plank storage |
| 52 | Trunk Totem | Spell | Transmute scattered trees into a single totem |
| 67 | Wood Weight Reduction | Passive | Wood weighs 50% less |
| 78 | Lumber Backpack | Recipe | More XP, better rare drops, less wood weight |
| 88 | Axtral Projection Upgrade | Passive | Upgrades to 3 spectral axes |
| 99 | Woodcutting Cape | Passive | Craft and wear the Woodcutting Skillcape |
Woodcutting front-loads its utility. Axtral Projection at 11 and Splinter at 27 are both usable long before Mining's equivalent spell arrives, and Lumber Storage at 40 is a full 22 levels earlier than Mining's storage recipe.
Chop Thorny Vines at 20 is Woodcutting's access perk, mirroring Mine Crumbled Walls — another case where a gathering level opens terrain.
A server-specific warning that has not been confirmed fixed: Jagex investigated an issue where "using Splinter or cutting Willow Trees into logs is causing a crash on Dedicated Servers." Several related Splinter bugs were resolved, but that one is not listed among them. Test on your own build before a long Willow session on a shared world.
Two Axtral Projection bugs were fixed in 0.12.1: it "would not chop down all intended/highlighted trees", and — alongside Splinter — it destroyed tree stumps.
Where Jagex's Announcement Differs

If you planned a route from the Eye on Ashenfall post, five of its numbers no longer match the game:
| Perk | Jagex announced | Current |
|---|---|---|
| Divine Rock | 51 | 80 |
| Accelerated Veins | 71 | 90 |
| Ore & Stone Storage | 59 | 62 |
| Ingot Weight Reduction | 74 | 71 |
| Lumber Storage | 59 | 40 |
Five others match exactly — Ultimate Burst 69, Trunk Totem 52, Wood Weight Reduction 67, Lumber Backpack 78 and Axtral Projection Upgrade 88.
The direction of the changes is interesting. Divine Rock and its gemstone upgrade both moved far later, turning them from mid-game tools into a 99-push reward. Lumber Storage moved dramatically earlier — from 59 to 40 — and Ingot Weight Reduction moved slightly earlier, from 74 to 71.
So the "both storage recipes unlock at 59" symmetry in Jagex's post no longer exists. Lumber Storage is now one of the earliest meaningful recipes in either tree; Ore & Stone Storage is not.
Treat Jagex's announcement as a snapshot of intent and the current tree as what you will actually play. This is a general rule for Dragonwilds: the Eye on Ashenfall posts describe what is coming, and the game keeps moving afterwards.
Where to Spend Your Time

Ranked by what actually changes a session:
- Woodcutting 40 — Lumber Storage. The earliest genuinely useful recipe in either tree, and it arrives while you are still building.
- Woodcutting 67 — Wood Weight Reduction. Wood is the bulkiest early material; halving it is the biggest single haul improvement.
- Mining 71 — Ingot Weight Reduction. The same for the material you carry at every later tier.
- Mining 20 / Woodcutting 20 — the access perks. Mine Crumbled Walls and Chop Thorny Vines open terrain, and neither is obvious from a skill menu.
- Woodcutting 52 — Trunk Totem, then Mining 80 — Divine Rock. Both gather scattered nodes into one place; the Woodcutting version arrives far sooner.
Carry weight is the theme both trees share, and it stacks with Agility, which raises maximum carry weight at levels 50 and 75:
| Source | Effect |
|---|---|
| Mining 5 | Stone, clay, sand −25% |
| Mining 36 | Metal ores −25% |
| Mining 71 | Ingots −50% |
| Woodcutting 67 | Wood −50% |
| Woodcutting 78 | Lumber Backpack reduces wood weight further |
| Agility 50 and 75 | Passive maximum carry weight increases |
On a six-player server, weight is a role. One player carrying both weight perks and high Agility can haul for the group — far more efficient than six half-loaded trips. And Agility "levels passively while you run across the world" — but not while mounted — so the gathering trips themselves are the training.
And no XP is wasted. Jagex raised skill caps to 99 "even though the skills aren't finished yet", promising that content backfills: "If you've already reached the required levels, these will automatically unlock as we add the content in."
Practical tips
- Mining's weight perks come in three stages: stone/clay/sand at 5, metal ore at 36, ingots at 71.
- Woodcutting 67 halves wood weight; the Lumber Backpack at 78 reduces it further.
- Lumber Storage is at 40 — far earlier than Mining's storage at 62.
- Divine Rock is level 80, not 51 as announced; Accelerated Veins is 90.
- Mine Crumbled Walls (20) and Chop Thorny Vines (20) open blocked terrain.
- Stack the weight perks with Agility 50 and 75.
- Agility levels passively while running — but not while mounted.
- Test Willow log processing on your own server build — a crash was reported and not confirmed fixed.
Running your own RuneScape: Dragonwilds server
Gathering skills reward long, uninterrupted sessions and a base that keeps its stockpile between them — which is what a persistent world provides and a host-and-play session does not. A gamever Dragonwilds server keeps your ore store, lumber store and everything in them available around the clock for up to six players, updates automatically so client and server versions never drift, and takes one-click backups before disruptive changes.
Conclusion
Mining and Woodcutting were the first Dragonwilds skills populated to 99, and both are built around carry weight. Mining reduces it in three stages — stone, clay and sand at 5, metal ores at 36, and ingots at 71 — alongside Rocksplosion (11), Gem Prospector (16), Summon Stone Spirits (24), Ore & Stone Storage (62), Ultimate Burst (69), and the late pair of Divine Rock (80) and Accelerated Veins (90). Woodcutting front-loads its utility: Axtral Projection at 11, Splinter at 27, Lumber Storage at 40, Trunk Totem at 52, Wood Weight Reduction at 67, the triple-benefit Lumber Backpack at 78, three spectral axes at 88 and the cape at 99. Both trees hide an access perk at level 20 — Mine Crumbled Walls and Chop Thorny Vines — that opens terrain rather than speeding up gathering. And if you are working from Jagex's announcement, note that five of its levels have since moved, most dramatically Divine Rock from 51 to 80 and Lumber Storage from 59 to 40.
