The Fulings in Valheim: No Weaknesses, No Resistances, and 800 Health of Berserker

Every creature file in this series has been about finding the right damage type. The Fulings are the exception, and it is worth stating plainly: Fulings and Fuling Berserkers have no weakness and no resistance to anything. Their tables are empty except for Spirit immunity. Whatever weapon you are holding is the correct weapon — which is why the Plains is a test of your gear and your reflexes rather than your preparation.

All Three Fulings

| Fuling | Fuling Berserker | Fuling Shaman | |
|---|---|---|---|
| Health 0★ / 1★ / 2★ | 175 / 350 / 525 | 800 / 1,600 / 2,400 | 100 |
| Weak to | Nothing | Nothing | Nothing |
| Resistant to | Nothing | Nothing | Nothing |
| Immune to | Spirit | Spirit | Spirit |
| Stagger threshold | 30% | 30% | 30% |
Three enemies, three empty resistance tables. Fire, Frost, Lightning, Poison, Blunt, Pierce, Slash — every one of them lands at exactly normal value on every Fuling. The only entry in any of their tables is Spirit immunity, shared with almost everything else in the game.
That has a real consequence: there is no wrong loadout for a Fuling village, and equally no clever loadout that trivialises it. You are trading raw numbers, which is why the Plains kills people who arrive with Iron-tier gear.
The Ordinary Fuling Carries Four Weapons
The base Fuling has 175 health and spawns with one of four armaments, all hitting for the same total:
| Armament | Damage |
|---|---|
| Club | 85 Blunt |
| Spear | 85 Pierce |
| Sword | 85 Slash |
| Torch | 45 Blunt, 45 Fire |
Three of the four deal exactly 85 in three different damage types, which is a neat piece of design — the Fuling that hits you is dealing the same amount regardless of which weapon it drew, so your armour type does not change the outcome much.
The torch is the interesting one. At 45 Blunt plus 45 Fire it deals 90 total, marginally more than the others, and splits it across two types — so it partially bypasses armour that is only good against one. It also sets things alight, which matters near a wooden base.
Fulings drop Black metal scrap, Coins and a trophy. Black metal is the Plains weapon tier, so clearing villages is the point rather than a side effect.
The Berserker

The Fuling Berserker guards villages and Stonehenge sites, and it is a different order of problem:
| Field | Value |
|---|---|
| Health | 800 / 1,600 / 2,400 |
| Attack | 130 Blunt, 100 Chop, 40 Pickaxe |
| Rage attack | 130 Blunt, 100 Chop, 40 Pickaxe |
| Stagger threshold | 30% |
130 Blunt per swing is among the highest single-hit numbers you will meet outside a boss, and both of its attacks deal the same. There is no light attack to bait — every connection is a full hit.
The 100 Chop and 40 Pickaxe riding along mean a Berserker that follows you home does Troll-grade damage to a wooden base.
Its one mercy is the 30% stagger threshold: 240 damage staggers a base Berserker, and since nothing is resisted, that is a genuinely reachable number with Black metal weapons. Stagger is the Berserker fight.
Berserkers drop Black metal scrap, Coins and — importantly — the Fuling totem, which is Yagluth's summoning item. You need five, and this is where they come from.
The Shaman Is the Priority Target
The Fuling Shaman has only 100 health and does not fight so much as enable:
| Ability | Effect |
|---|---|
| Protect | 100 Shield |
| Poke | 100 Blunt |
| Fireball | 20 Blunt, 100 Fire |
The Protect ability is a 100-point shield applied to other Fulings, which is the same problem the Greydwarf Shaman poses in the Black Forest and for the same reason: a group with a support unit in it takes noticeably longer to kill than the health bars suggest.
Kill the Shaman first. At 100 health it dies quickly, and its 100 Fire fireball is a real threat on top of the shielding.
Shamans drop Coins, Black metal scrap, Bukeperries and a trophy — the Bukeperries being a food ingredient with no other convenient source in the biome.
Fighting a Village

- Bring your best weapon, not a specific one. Nothing is resisted and nothing is weak, so damage-per-second is the only thing that matters.
- Kill Shamans first. 100 health, and they shield everything around them for 100 points each.
- Stagger the Berserker. 30% of 800 is 240 damage — the single most useful number in the fight.
- Expect 85 damage per Fuling hit regardless of which weapon it holds, and 90 from the torch variant split across Blunt and Fire.
- Collect five Fuling totems from Berserkers. That is Yagluth's offering, and there is no alternate source.
- Do not fight near your build. Berserkers carry 100 Chop and 40 Pickaxe on every swing.
Running your own Valheim server
A Fuling village is a coordinated assault rather than a solo errand, and coordination needs a world that is still there when everyone logs in. A gamever Valheim server keeps it persistent for up to 10 players, with one-click backups.
Conclusion
Valheim's three Fuling types are unique in having completely empty weakness and resistance tables — only Spirit immunity, shared with almost everything — so every damage type lands at normal value and there is neither a wrong loadout nor a clever one. The base Fuling at 175 / 350 / 525 health carries one of four armaments, and three of them deal exactly 85 in different types while the torch deals 45 Blunt plus 45 Fire for slightly more, split across two types. The Fuling Berserker at 800 / 1,600 / 2,400 hits for 130 Blunt on both its attacks with 100 Chop and 40 Pickaxe riding along, making it a base-destroyer as well as a threat — but its 30% stagger threshold means 240 damage opens it up, and with nothing resisted that number is reachable. The Fuling Shaman at just 100 health applies a 100-point shield to nearby Fulings and throws 100 Fire fireballs, which makes it the first thing to kill in any village. And Berserkers are the only source of the Fuling totem, five of which summon Yagluth.
