Dog Coin in Palworld: Every Source, Ranked by Rate

Dog Coin is Palworld's black-market currency, and unlike gold it has no merchant that pays it out and no crafting recipe that produces it. It comes from loot tables only — and the rates across those tables vary by a factor of five. Most players farm junkyards for it. The best source in the game is an elemental chest at 99.802%.
Every Source, Ranked

| Source | Quantity | Rate |
|---|---|---|
| Elemental chests (regional) | 10 – 15 | 99.802% |
| WorldTree elemental chests | 20 – 30 | 90.09% |
| Junk_WorldTree | 22 – 26 | 50.394% |
| Junk_DarkIsland / Junk_SkyIsland | 18 – 22 | 40% |
| Junk_Sakurajima | 16 – 20 | 40% |
| Junk_Volcano / Junk_Dessert | 6 – 10 | 40% |
| Junk_Forest | 5 – 9 | 40% |
| Junk_Grass2 | 4 – 8 | 40% |
| Junk_Grass1 | 2 – 5 | 40% |
| Junk_Snow | 12 – 16 | 28.571% |
| Salvage_Rank2 | 10 – 20 | 21.862% |
The regional elemental chests at 99.802% are effectively guaranteed, and almost nobody farms them for this — they are known as organ chests, and the Dog Coin sits quietly at the bottom of the table.
The World Tree elemental chest is the best on quantity: 20–30 on a 90.09% roll gives an expected yield of about 22 per open, against the regional chest's 12.5.
Expected Yield Changes the Order
Rate alone is misleading. Multiply rate by average quantity and the ranking shifts:
| Source | Average per open |
|---|---|
| WorldTree elemental chest | ~22.5 |
| Junk_WorldTree | ~12.1 |
| Regional elemental chest | ~12.5 |
| Junk_SkyIsland / Junk_DarkIsland | ~8 |
| Junk_Sakurajima | ~7.2 |
| Junk_Snow | ~4 |
| Salvage_Rank2 | ~3.3 |
| Junk_Grass1 | ~1.4 |
The World Tree elemental chest is worth roughly sixteen times a starting junkyard per open, and about 80% more than the next best source.
Junk_Snow's high stack is misleading. At 12–16 it looks strong, but its 28.571% rate — the lowest of any junkyard — drops it below Sakurajima's 16–20 at 40%. The Snow junkyard is a nine-entry table, and the extra entry costs it proportionally.
The Three Container Types

Junkyards — ten tables, every one carries it. The quantity scales with region from 2–5 in the grasslands to 22–26 at the World Tree, a nine-fold climb. Eight of the ten roll at a flat 40%; Junk_Snow is the outlier at 28.571% and Junk_WorldTree is the only one above 40%, at 50.394%.
Elemental chests — fifteen tables, and they are the real farm. The regional versions give 10–15 at 99.802% and the World Tree versions 20–30 at 90.09%. These are the highest rates for any item in the whole Dog Coin picture, and they arrive alongside organs, Radiant Gems and Training Manuals rather than instead of them.
Salvage Rank 2 — 10–20 at 21.862%. The lowest rate of the three families, and it needs fishing-magnet access, so this is an incidental source rather than a route.
Why This Matters
Dog Coin buys from the Black Marketeer, and the notable purchase is Starfruit at 750 Dog Coin — a four-star Pal for currency rather than a catch. (For where the Black Marketeer stands and what else he stocks, see How to Get Dog Coins in Palworld.)
At 750 Dog Coin, the routes work out roughly as:
| Source | Opens needed for 750 |
|---|---|
| WorldTree elemental chest | ~33 |
| Regional elemental chest | ~60 |
| Junk_WorldTree | ~62 |
| Junk_Grass1 | ~536 |
Farming the starting junkyard for a Starfruit is a five-hundred-chest project. Farming World Tree elemental chests is a thirty-three-chest one — and those chests are also paying Applied Handbooks at 3.303% and Training Manual (XL) 3–5 at 70% on the same opens.
The Practical Route

- Farm World Tree elemental chests. Best quantity, near-guaranteed rate, and the best Applied Handbook and XL manual rates in the game on the same open.
- Regional elemental chests are the fallback at 99.802% — the highest probability of any source, if a smaller stack.
- Take junkyard Dog Coin in passing, not as a route. Only Junk_WorldTree at 50.394% is worth a detour.
- Ignore Junk_Snow for this specifically. Its stack looks good and its rate is the worst of the ten.
- Do not count on Salvage. At 21.862% and gated behind magnet access, it is incidental.

Conclusion
Dog Coin comes from loot tables only — no merchant sells it and no recipe makes it — and it appears in three container families. Junkyards carry it in all ten tables, scaling nine-fold from 2–5 in the grasslands to 22–26 at the World Tree, at a flat 40% in eight of them, 28.571% in Junk_Snow and 50.394% at the World Tree. Elemental chests are the real source and almost nobody uses them for it: the regional versions give 10–15 at 99.802% — effectively guaranteed — and the World Tree versions 20–30 at 90.09%, an expected ~22.5 per open against a starting junkyard's ~1.4, or roughly sixteen times the yield. Salvage Rank 2 trails at 10–20 on a 21.862% roll. Against the Black Marketeer's headline purchase — Starfruit at 750 Dog Coin — that is about 33 World Tree elemental chests or 536 starting junkyards, and the elemental chests are simultaneously paying Applied Handbooks at 3.303% and Training Manual (XL) 3–5 at 70%.
