How to Use Winches in Farming Simulator 25

Winches allow you to move heavy logs from tough spots, through steep or uneven ground, and even help you pull yourself or your tractor out of sticky situations. Here’s a step-by-step guide on using winches like a pro.

Purchase Winch in the Shop

You can attach winches to regular tractors or multipurpose tractors like the Pfanzelt Pm Trac. Specialized models are often easier to maneuver and handle heavier loads.

Step 1: Attach the Winch to Your Tractor

First, attach your winch to the tractor via the three-point linkage. Ensure that your tractor meets the power requirements of the winch—stronger tractors handle bigger loads with ease.

Step 2: Grab the Rope and Attach It to Logs

Once you’ve felled some trees, approach the log and grab the winch rope from the back of the tractor. Walk over to the log, then look for the attachment prompt on-screen. Press the assigned button to hook the rope to the log.

If you’re using a tractor like the Pfanzelt Pm Trac, you also have the option to pick up logs directly with its gripper arm, attaching one log to each side of the tractor for an even drag.

Step 3: Move the Logs

Now it’s time to drag the logs. Start slowly and steadily—especially on rough or hilly terrain. If you’re dragging more than one log, keep them close to avoid excessive swinging, which can lead to logs slipping loose. Use your tractor’s winch controls to pull the logs closer or let out some slack as needed.

Moving logs on steep terrain can be tricky. In cases where it’s too challenging, switch to using yarders to pull logs over long distances and tough terrain with ease.

Step 4: Release and Prepare for Further Transport

Once you reach your collection point, press the release button to detach the logs. From here, you can load them into trailers, containers, or process them for chipping or other production purposes.

With a winch in your forestry toolkit, navigating the challenges of logging becomes much easier. Whether you’re pulling logs out of dense forest areas, transporting heavy loads across uneven ground, or simply clearing space, the winch is a versatile and powerful tool to have in Farming Simulator 25. Now you’re ready to tackle even the most rugged terrain and make the most out of every forestry haul.
