You’ll need Ancient Technology Points, which you can snag by defeating Syndicate Tower bosses and Alpha Pals.

     - Lockpicking Tool V1: Unlocks at Level 16. Costs 1 Ancient Technology Point.

     - Lockpicking Tool V2: Unlocks at Level 28. Costs 2 Ancient Technology Points.

     - Lockpicking Tool V3: Unlocks at Level 51. Costs 3 Ancient Technology Points.

 

Crafting Your Lockpicking Tools

 

     Once you’ve unlocked the tools in the Ancient Technology Menu, it's time to craft them. Head over to a Production Assembly Line in your base, and get ready to gather some resources. Each version of the Lockpicking Tool has different crafting requirements:

 

     - Lockpicking Tool V1: 10 Ingots, 10 Paldium Fragments, 5 Nails.

     - Lockpicking Tool V2: 20 Ingots, 20 Paldium Fragments, 10 Nails.

     - Lockpicking Tool V3: 30 Pal Metal Ingots, 30 Paldium Fragments, 20 Nails.

 

    

     Remember, you need to unlock each tier sequentially. So, you’ll have to craft V1 before you can unlock and craft V2, and so on. Once crafted, these tools sit in your "Key Items" tab and don't take up any space or weight in your inventory. Plus, they have infinite uses, so no need to worry about them breaking!

 

    

 

Using the Lockpicking Tools

 

     Now, let’s get to the fun part – using your Lockpicking Tools! Once you have them in your inventory, find a locked treasure chest. There are three types of chests in Palworld, each requiring a specific key or lockpicking tool:

 

     - Copper Chests: Use Lockpicking Tool V1.

     - Silver Chests: Use Lockpicking Tool V2.

     - Gold Chests: Use Lockpicking Tool V3.

 

    

     Approach the chest and select the "Lockpicking" option. This will trigger a minigame where you need to find the sweet spot on the lock. Use your mouse or joystick to move the key around. When you think you’ve got the right spot, press A on the keyboard or Left on the controller to turn the key.

 

    

     Keep adjusting until the key turns fully and the chest pops open. Don’t worry, you have unlimited attempts, so keep at it until you get it right!

 

    

     Now, you might be wondering if you should stick with keys or go full throttle with lockpicks. Here’s the deal: Lockpicks are superior in every way. They have infinite uses and don’t clutter your inventory. Keys, on the other hand, can be sold for Gold if you don’t need them. The only time keys might be handy is if you’re in a rush, like during a raid on the Oil Rig. Otherwise, lockpicks are your best bet.
