How to Tame Monkeys in Soulmask
Monkeys are more than just adorable companions. They provide exotic fruits like bananas and pineapples, wild mushrooms and other rare items, and just fun companionship as they can even sit on your shoulder!
Crafting a Small Trap
First things first, you need to craft a small trap:
You can unlock the small trap at Awareness level 10 under the Animal Breeding skill. You'll need branches, clay, and thick ropes. Use these materials to craft a small trap.
Locating Monkeys
Monkeys are usually found in groups around a monkey nest in the rainforest. Look for hollow tree stumps, which are monkey nests. These nests often contain early game fruits.
Before you place a trap, Chop hardwood trees to gather nuts and make sure you have plenty of nuts ready as bait. Set the trap close to a group of monkeys. Put a nut into the trap to lure them.
The target will slowly approach the trap. Once it is caught, you can pick it up and take it to your base.
Crafting the Monkey Nest
To house your monkeys and automate fruit collection, build a monkey nest. This is available at Awareness level 10. Gather 10x Log, 10x Fiber, 10x Thatch and optionally 5x Wild Fruit or 5x Nut. Construct the nest at a Crafting Table.
Put the captured monkey in the nest. The monkey will roam around and collect rare fruits, depositing them in the nest.
Automating Monkey Care
To make monkey care easier, use a trough and a food chest. Monkeys will eat from the trough and ignore the monkey nest as a food source. Also, if you build a Food chest, monkeys will store the fruits they collect directly into the chest but won’t eat from it.
However, ensure there are always nuts available in the trough. Check the food chest and monkey nest regularly to collect the fruits.
