How to Tame Animals in Enshrouded Souls of the Frozen Frontier Update
The Enshrouded Souls of the Frozen Frontier update adds a whole new layer to your gameplay by letting you tame animals and bring them back to your base. Whether you’re looking for useful resources like milk and wool or simply want some furry friends, this feature is a game changer. Here’s what you need to know to start taming animals in your world.
Get Your Gear Ready
Before heading out to find animals, you need to gather some basic items. The first thing you'll need is food trough and the right animal food. For goats, you'll need goat food, and for other animals, make sure you have the corresponding food types. Both the food and the trough can be crafted at the Emily the Farmer, which is your one-stop shop for all things farm-related.

Next, you should fence in your animals. Without a fence, they’ll wander off, and that’s just frustrating. A well-built fence will also protect them from any threats like wolves, which might wander into your area.
Provide Shelter and Comfort
Animals need more than food to thrive. They need a place to sleep and shelter from the elements. Set up an animal bed or animal cushion where they can rest. Bigger animals like cows will need larger beds, so make sure you plan accordingly. Also, goats especially love having a roof over their heads. Consider building a small shelter to keep them dry when it rains. If you don’t provide this, your animals won’t be as content, and it could slow down the taming process.

Find and Attract Animals
Now comes the exciting part—finding the animals to tame! Head out into Embervale and look for peaceful creatures like goats, deer, or even new pets like dogs and cats. When you spot an animal, it will show an icon above its head to let you know its mood. If it’s calm, you’ll see a simple icon, but if it’s skittish, you’ll see a question mark. Be careful—if you approach too quickly, they’ll run off!

For taming, you need to be stealthy. Get within throwing distance, then toss the appropriate food. For example, goats will go for goat food. Once the animal starts eating, it’ll be distracted, and you can get closer. Be patient, though—some animals, like Jacks, are trickier. You’ll need to throw food, wait for the animal to relax, then approach slowly and gently pet it. Each petting fills a heart meter, and you need three full hearts to tame it.

Watch Out for the Animal’s Mood
Keep an eye on the animal’s mood. If the animal is in alert mode, you’ll see a circle icon over its head. This means it doesn’t want to be touched, so you need to stop moving and give it some space. If you get too close during this time, you’ll ruin your progress and might need to start over. Patience is key—when the heart icon shows up, you’re good to go again!

Bring Your Animals Back to Base
Once you’ve successfully tamed your animal, it’s time to take it home. Go into your inventory, drag the animal to your quick bar, and place it in your animal enclosure. Make sure the enclosure has food and shelter ready for your new friend. For example, goat food and a food trough will keep goats happy, and a roof will keep them comfortable. With everything in place, your animals will be able to produce resources like milk and wool. Over time, your small flock will grow!

Raise and Care for Your Animals
Tamed animals aren’t just for looking cute—they also give you valuable resources. For instance, goats provide milk, and sheep give wool. With the right care and food, your animals will breed, and you’ll have more critters to add to your growing collection. This is a great way to stockpile resources and keep your base supplied.

Also, remember that your pets aren’t just for work—they’re companions, too! The update adds 5 dogs and 3 cats that you can tame and keep as pets. They won’t produce anything, but they’ll follow you around and love a good petting session when you’re feeling like some company.
Taming animals in Enshrouded Souls of the Frozen Frontier Update is a rewarding way to expand your base and make it feel more alive. From goats to dogs, these animals add life and utility to your gameplay. With some food, patience, and shelter, you'll have a thriving farm in no time.
