How to swap envirosuit in Icarus Update Week 175

     So you're on the surface of Icarus, halfway through a mission, and suddenly you realize the suit you're wearing just isn't cutting it. Maybe you're headed into the Arctic and forgot your cold-resistance envirosuit, or maybe you’ve found yourself building a new base and want a suit that boosts oxygen efficiency. Well guess what? You can now swap your envirosuit directly on planet, no need to log out or fly back up into orbit. It's fast, simple, and opens up all sorts of customization possibilities.

 

 

 

Get your suits ready

 

     First things first, before you can swap anything, you’ll need to bring multiple envirosuits with you. You do that through the Orbital Exchange Interface just like any other dropship item.

 

 

     Equip one as usual for landing, and pack the others in your cargo slots or storage boxes in your drop pod. It’s best to plan ahead and think about what kinds of environments you’ll face. Load up the suit you’ll start with and keep a backup for changing conditions.

 

 

 

Swap suits on the planet

 

Once you're on the surface and want to switch your suit, the process is surprisingly easy. Open your inventory. Look over on the left side of your character panel  -  you'll see the envirosuit slot.

 

 

     Now, just drag the suit you want to wear into that slot. You’ll get a prompt confirming the swap. Hold your breath for a moment (literally, because your oxygen is tied to your suit) and it’ll switch out. Bam. You’re in the new suit. You don’t need to go back to orbit. You don’t need to reload your character. Just swap and go.
