How to Rest and Sleep in Soulmask
Starting with Grass Mats
When you first start out, your best bet for resting is the humble grass mat. Unlocking this basic building option is easy, and you’ll need 5x Thatch and 2x Thick Rope to craft one. To create a grass mat, press Tab, select the mat option, and ensure you have the materials ready.

Once crafted, place the mat somewhere convenient and press E to sit and rest. While sitting on the grass mat, your morale will gradually increase, but be prepared for a slow recovery. It's the best you can do until you get better options.

Upgrading to Beds
As you progress, you'll want to upgrade from grass mats to beds, which provide faster morale recovery. To make a bed, you first need to build a Carpenter’s Table. This requires some additional steps: craft 5 Planks from Logs using the Carpenter’s Table.

Then, gather 20x Thatch, 4x Thick Rope, and 10 Planks (which can be regular, hardwood, or premium hardwood). Once you have all the materials, craft the bed and place it in a suitable spot. Sleeping in a bed restores morale much faster than sitting on a mat, making it worth the effort. Plus, your companions can also use the bed to recover, which is crucial for maintaining your team’s overall efficiency.

Creating a Cozy Resting Area
While the bed is your main resting tool, you can also create a cozy area with additional furniture. Craft chairs and place them around your bonfire. Chairs offer a decent balance of rest speed without triggering a loading screen, unlike beds.

This setup allows you to sit and chat with your friends or companions while gaining a bit of morale boost. Additionally, build a small shelter for your bonfire to protect it from the rain, ensuring you can always rest comfortably.
Advanced Resting Structures
As you advance further in the game, you'll unlock higher-tier resting structures. These may include more comfortable beds or advanced resting options that offer even faster morale recovery or additional benefits.

Keep an eye on your crafting menu and explore new options as you gather better materials and unlock new recipes.
Early on, rely on grass mats for resting, but prioritize upgrading to beds as soon as you can gather the necessary materials. If the loading screen associated with beds disrupts your gameplay, use chairs for a balanced rest without interruptions. Continuously upgrade your resting structures to ensure you and your companions can maintain high morale, which is crucial for surviving the harsh world of Soulmask.
