How to Rest and Sleep in 7 Days to Die 1.0
So, you’re knee-deep in the apocalypse, and the constant night shifts have you wondering if there’s any chance you can get some shut-eye in 7 Days to Die. Unfortunately, or… perhaps, on the contrary, fortunately, the short answer is no—your character doesn’t actually sleep. But don’t despair! There are plenty of ways to handle the relentless nights and make the most out of your survival experience.
Bedroll
While you can’t catch some Z’s in 7 Days to Die, you can definitely use a Bedroll to improve your gameplay. Think of the Bedroll as your new best friend in a world full of chaos. To craft a Bedroll, you need just 10 Plant Fibers. Punch some grass to collect them, then head to the crafting menu under the "Basics" tab. Select "Bedroll" and hit "Craft." Boom! You’ve got yourself a Bedroll ready to go. Place it down in a strategic location to set your respawn point. This way, if you croak, you can choose to spawn on or near your Bedroll, which is way better than spawning randomly 80 blocks away!

Bedroll's Benefits
Placing a Bedroll isn’t just about setting a respawn point. It also has a nifty side effect: it can help manage zombie spawns. For instance, if you clear out a Point of Interest (POI) and place a Bedroll there, zombies are less likely to respawn in that area. The same goes for loot; placing a Bedroll or Land Claim Block (LCB) in a POI will prevent the loot from respawning too. It’s like having a little piece of safety in an otherwise unsafe world!

Surviving the Night
Even though you can’t sleep, you can definitely survive the night with a few clever strategies. Here’s how to make it through the dark hours without breaking a sweat:
1. Gather Resources During the Day: Stock up on essential items like food and water while the sun is shining. This way, you’re prepared for the long night ahead.

2. Fortify Your Base: Build a small, defensible base with narrow entrances. This makes it easier to control zombie access and keep yourself safe.

3. Avoid Heights: Don’t climb to high places like rooftops. Zombie vultures can still reach you, and it’s not worth the risk.
4. Dig Underground: Use a pickaxe to tunnel underground and cover the entrance with stone. It’s a safe haven from the zombies above.
Changing the Time of Day
If you’re really desperate to skip the night, there are ways to change the time of day in 7 Days to Die. For single-player or server admins, you can use console commands to adjust the time. Press the “F1” key to open the console command window, then type `settime <day> <hour> <minute>` to set the exact time. For instance, typing `settime 30 12 00` will set the game to Day 30 at 12:00 p.m. Alternatively, using `debugmode` lets you adjust the time with a slider.

While 7 Days to Die doesn’t offer a way to literally sleep through the night, managing your time and using the Bedroll effectively can still give you a fighting chance in the zombie apocalypse. With these tips, you can make the most of the relentless nights and keep your survival game strong. So gear up, dig in, and keep those zombies at bay!
