How to Parry in Valheim
Understand Parrying Basics
Parrying occurs when you block just before an attack lands, indicated by a clanging sound.

But not all items can parry, like tower shields.

Parrying multiplies the Block armor by the Parry Bonus of the weapon or shield. If the attacker isn't immune to staggering, they'll stagger and take double damage briefly.

Parrying costs 20 stamina, but only 10 stamina needs to be available.
Timing is Key
Block at the right moment to parry, indicated by a distinct noise and a circular blast of light.

Practice timing to maximize the parry bonus and minimize damage taken. Parrying blocks more damage than standard blocking and often staggers enemies.

Equipment Matters
Different weapons and shields offer varying parry bonuses.

Shields and one-handed weapons combo offer effective parrying and immediate counterattacks.
Beware, larger enemies and Valheim bosses recover quickly from parries.

Stamina Management
Parrying consumes more stamina than regular blocking.

Avoid holding block for too long to conserve stamina for counterattacks. Blocking drains stamina, and being out of stamina means taking full damage.
Practice Makes Perfect
Use Greydwarf nests to practice parrying for skill improvement.

Mix up blocking and dodging for effective defense against different enemies. Experiment with timing and equipment combos for optimal parrying.
Parrying in Valheim is a crucial skill for reducing damage and gaining a tactical advantage in combat. Mastering the timing and equipment choices can turn the tide of battle in your favor.
