How to Heal in Abiotic Factor
Healing Mechanics
Healing in Abiotic Factor involves two primary approaches: restoring health and curing status effects. While food and water can help with slow natural regeneration, medical items provide a more immediate solution. Healing items come in two categories - those that directly restore health and those that treat specific conditions like bleeding, fractures, or radiation.

Natural regeneration works when you’re well-fed and hydrated, and it can be boosted by certain skills. However, relying solely on natural healing can leave you vulnerable in high-stress situations, making medical items a necessary part of survival.

Key Medical Items and Their Uses
There’s a wide variety of medical items in Abiotic Factor, each tailored for specific injuries or conditions. Here’s a breakdown of the most common ones:
- Bandage: Stops a single bleeding wound. If you have multiple wounds, each one will require a separate bandage. Easy to craft with Cloth Scrap that you can find everywhere.

- Tech Bandage: An upgraded version of the bandage that can stop severe bleeding with just one use.
- Healing Syringe: Gradually restores health over time. Ideal for topping up health during or after combat. It requires a Test Tube, Anteverse Wheat and Bio Scrap.

- Splint: Used to treat fractures, sprains, and broken limbs, including wrists and ankles. Note that splints currently need to be used directly from the hotbar due to a bug. Collect a Bandage, Wood Plank and Duct Tape.

- Iodine Tablets: Reduces incoming radiation and lowers already accumulated radiation levels.
- Pentetic Acid Syringe: A more potent alternative to Iodine Tablets, reducing both incoming and accumulated radiation. Unlocked at First Aid skill level 4.
- Healing Briefcase: A deployable device that creates an area-of-effect healing zone for you and your team. It requires recharging and lasts for a limited time.
How to Use Healing Items
Quick access to medical items is critical during emergencies. Hold the X key to open the hotwheel, which displays all available healing items in your inventory. From here, select the item you need without digging through menus.

For splints, due to a known bug, add them directly to your hotbar and activate them from there. Always keep a variety of healing items prepared, especially when exploring dangerous areas.
Crafting and Unlocking Medical Items
Many medical items can be crafted at your base once their recipes are unlocked. Improving your First Aid skill not only increases the effectiveness of healing but also unlocks new recipes like the Pentetic Acid Syringe. Craft items like bandages and healing syringes using resources gathered during exploration.
Dealing with Radiation and Status Effects
Radiation is a common hazard in Abiotic Factor, especially in contaminated zones. Carry Iodine Tablets or Pentetic Acid Syringes to manage radiation exposure. For injuries like fractures or sprains, splints are indispensable. Tech Bandages are excellent for stopping severe bleeding during combat.

While medical items are effective, maintaining food and water levels can enhance natural regeneration. Eating high-quality meals and staying hydrated ensures steady health recovery over time. Additionally, upgrading certain crafting benches can unlock devices that provide area-wide healing effects.
Always prepare before venturing into dangerous areas. Carry a mix of bandages, syringes, and anti-radiation items. Ensure your healing supplies are well-stocked and placed in accessible slots or the hotwheel. Remember that preparation often determines survival.
Healing in Abiotic Factor is a combination of strategic preparation and quick thinking. By mastering the use of medical items, managing status effects, and boosting natural regeneration, you can navigate the game’s challenges with confidence. Staying equipped with the right tools and knowing when to use them will ensure your survival in even the toughest scenarios.
