Finding SAM Ore

SAM Ore is scattered across the planet, but locating it can be a bit tricky due to its rarity and limited current use. Unlike other ores, SAM Ore doesn’t show up in your crafting recipes or production chains, but it’s still worth hunting down for future use or to satisfy your explorer’s curiosity. To start, you should know that SAM Ore can be mined either by hand or with mining equipment.

Locating SAM Ore Nodes

SAM Ore nodes are scattered around the map, with the most notable being the one with an unlimited supply. This special node is situated in the Eastern Dune Forest near the Swamp. This node is your golden ticket to a never-ending supply of SAM Ore—perfect if you’re looking to gather large amounts.

Most SAM Ore nodes, however, are not infinite. They can produce between 15 and 99 ore per mining session. Once you reach this limit, the node will stop producing until the game is reloaded. So, make sure to collect as much as you can before you hit that limit!

Types of SAM Ore Nodes

There are different purities of SAM Ore nodes:

     - Impure Nodes: Produce 30 SAM Ore per minute with a Miner Mk.1, up to 960 per minute with a Miner Mk.3 at 250% speed.

     - Normal Nodes: Produce 60 SAM Ore per minute with a Miner Mk.1, up to 1,200 per minute with a Miner Mk.3 at 250% speed.

     - Pure Nodes: Currently, there are no Pure SAM Ore nodes, which means the maximum efficiency you can achieve is with Normal nodes.

Mining SAM Ore

To collect SAM Ore, you can either mine it manually or use mining equipment. Here’s a quick breakdown:

     - Manual Mining: Press the default key “E” to mine SAM Ore from the nodes by hand. This method is slow and can be tedious, especially with the limited production per session.

     - Using Miners: Set up a Miner Mk.1, Mk.2, or Mk.3 to automate the collection process. The efficiency of these miners depends on the node purity and the speed setting of the Miner.

Unlocking the SAM Scannable Resource

Once you’ve gathered a decent amount of SAM Ore, you can unlock the ability to scan for SAM Ore nodes using the M.A.M. (Molecular Analysis Machine). This feature is a crucial step if you want to make the most of your SAM Ore. Here’s how to do it:

     1. Interact with the M.A.M.: Head to your base and interact with the M.A.M. This is where you’ll perform all your research and analysis tasks.

     2. Research SAM Ore: In the Alien Technology Tree within the M.A.M., you’ll find a node specifically for SAM Ore. To unlock this node, you need to spend 10 SAM Ores.

     3. Unlock the Node: Once you have the 10 SAM Ores, select the SAM Ore node and start the research process. This will enable you to scan for SAM Ore resources more effectively and unlock further research options related to SAM technology.

     4. Explore the New Discoveries: With the SAM Ore scanning capability unlocked, you’ll be able to identify more SAM Ore nodes across the map, making it easier to locate and collect this valuable resource in the future.

Current Use of SAM Ore

As of now, SAM Ore doesn’t have any direct applications. It’s not used in crafting, nor can it be sunk. The developers have hinted that SAM Ore will be linked to future story aspects and alien technologies, so while it might not serve a purpose now, it’s worth keeping an eye on.

It seems some SAM Ore spots were removed or changed in recent updates. If you can’t find it where it used to be, double-check updated maps or community resources. SAM Ore nodes have a production cap. After reaching this limit, you’ll need to reload the game to continue mining.

While SAM Ore might not be the most exciting resource right now, its potential for future updates makes it a worthy pursuit. With its mysterious allure and the promise of future uses, hunting for SAM Ore adds an extra layer of excitement to your Satisfactory adventures. And with the ability to unlock SAM Ore scanning through M.A.M., you’ll be better equipped to explore and collect this rare resource.
