How to Get Refined Ingot in Palworld 1.0 (& What It's For)

Refined Ingot is the metal that carries you through Palworld's entire middle game. It is not glamorous — it will never be Paloxite or Soralite — but it appears in dozens of recipes across weapons, armor, helmets, accessories and ammunition, and it is the first ingot that requires an upgraded furnace to produce. Here is the recipe, which furnace tiers can make it, and how to keep the supply moving.

What Is Refined Ingot?

Refined Ingot is a Common-rarity material with a weight of 5 and a sell value of 720 Gold Coins.

Its description states the job plainly: "A material required to create high quality metal weapons and armor. Refined from Ore and Coal using a furnace."

That 720 Gold Coin value is worth noting — Refined Ingot is one of the more valuable "common" materials in the game, so surplus is genuinely worth selling rather than leaving in a chest.

The Recipe

Input Amount
Ore 2
Coal 2
Work cost 70 work units

A clean 2:2 ratio, and the work cost of 70 is low enough that a well-staffed furnace produces these in volume rather than one at a time.

Which Furnace You Need

This is the part that stops people. The basic furnace cannot make Refined Ingot. You need one of four tiers:

  • Improved Furnace — the entry point, and the one most players unlock first.
  • Electric Furnace — faster, but it needs power.
  • Gigantic Furnace — high-volume production.
  • Ancient Furnace — Technology Level 66, and the endgame option. It also smelts Coralum, Copper, Iron, Pal Metal and Plasteel, so it consolidates your whole metal chain into one station.

If a recipe is asking for Refined Ingot and you cannot craft it, check your furnace tier before you check your ore stock.

What It Builds

Refined Ingot appears across essentially every equipment category:

Category Examples
Weapons Metal Bat (x20, Technology Level 40), rifles, shotguns, bows
Armor Standard, heat-resistant and cold-resistant sets
Accessories Reptyro Charm (x20), Islander's Tool Belt (x20)
Other Helmets, various ammunition types

The Metal Bat at Technology Level 40 is the practical milestone. At 500 Attack from Hardwood x30 and Refined Ingot x20, it is the cheapest genuine weapon upgrade in the mid-game and the point at which most players first need a working Refined Ingot pipeline.

Keeping the Pipeline Full

Refined Ingot production has two halves — getting ore, and smelting it — and each has a best Pal among Palworld 1.0's roster:

Mining (getting the ore):

  • Aegidron — Mining Lv8, the best in the update. It is also a rideable mount with Stun immunity for your party.
  • Knocklem Ignis — Mining Lv7 and Transporting Lv7, so it mines and hauls.
  • Dualith / Dualith Noct — Mining Lv6, plus Transporting Lv6.
  • Tetroise Primo — Mining Lv6.

Smelting (running the furnace):

  • Renjishi — Kindling Lv8, the best fire rating in the update. Furnaces gate on Kindling level, so a Lv8 worker is what keeps a high-tier furnace producing rather than idling.
  • Dupin and Flaracle at Kindling Lv7 are strong backups.

Ore also drops. Among 1.0's new Pals, Aegidron, Silvance, Dandilord, Pierdon and Knocklem Ignis all list Ore in their drop tables, so a boss farming loop restocks your smelter as a side effect.

One base-wide trick: Tetroise's partner skill grants +1 Mining Work Suitability to all other Base Pals. That pushes several mid-tier miners over station thresholds at once and is usually worth more than swapping a single worker.

Practical tips

  • The basic furnace cannot make Refined Ingot. If the recipe is greyed out, upgrade the furnace before hunting more ore.
  • The ratio is 2 Ore + 2 Coal — coal is as much a bottleneck as ore, and players routinely forget to mine it.
  • Put a Kindling Lv8 Pal on the furnace. Renjishi roughly doubles what a mid-tier worker produces.
  • At 720 Gold Coins each, surplus Refined Ingot is a genuine income stream against 1.0's seven-figure crafts.
  • The Ancient Furnace (Tech 66) consolidates Refined Ingot, Coralum and every other metal into one station — worth the unlock once you are running multiple chains.

Running your own Palworld 1.0 server

Smelting is the definition of work that should happen while you are not watching. On a dedicated Palworld 1.0 server your furnaces keep converting ore and coal into Refined Ingot around the clock, so a session starts with a full chest rather than an empty queue. Full crossplay lets one player mine while another runs the base, and one-click backups and automatic updates protect a production chain that takes real time to set up.

Conclusion

Refined Ingot is 2 Ore + 2 Coal at 70 work units, and it requires an Improved, Electric, Gigantic or Ancient Furnace — the basic furnace will not do it. It feeds dozens of recipes across weapons, armor, helmets, accessories and ammunition, starting with the Metal Bat (x20) at Technology Level 40. Staff mining with Aegidron (Lv8) and smelting with Renjishi (Kindling Lv8), remember that coal is half the recipe, and sell the surplus at 720 Gold Coins a piece.
