How to get Radiation Crystal in Core Keeper Bags and Blasts Update
Deep in the mysterious and glowing expanse of the Shimmering Frontier lies one of the most unique materials in Core Keeper - Radiation Crystal. These large, green-glowing formations radiate an eerie energy and pack a punch, damaging anything that lingers too close. If you want to farm these crystals for crafting, upgrading, or summoning bosses, you’ll need to know where to look and how to collect them safely.
Finding Radiation Crystal
Radiation Crystals spawn naturally in the Shimmering Frontier, a biome beyond the three secondary biomes. This otherworldly blue-hued area stretches around the outer edges of the map, roughly 1200 tiles away from the Core. To reach it, continue digging in any direction past the Azeos’ Wilderness, Sunken Sea, or Desert of Beginnings. Once inside, the unmistakable green glow of Radiation Crystals will stand out against the biome's vibrant blue and crystalline structures. Be cautious - this place is crawling with aggressive creatures and environmental hazards.
Mining
Extracting Radiation Crystals requires strong mining tools. These crystals are embedded in Crystal Blocks and demand at least 807 mining damage to break. Basic pickaxes won’t cut it - you’ll need an Octarine Pickaxe at minimum, and even that takes multiple swings. Explosives won’t work either, as Radiation Crystals are immune to bomb damage. You can use drills to extract these resources more efficiently without standing in harm’s way.
Protection
The moment you approach a Radiation Crystal, you’ll start taking 80 radioactive damage every other second if unprotected. This can quickly become deadly if you’re unprepared. To mitigate this, consider equipping the Hazmat Suit, a specialized armor set significantly reducing radiation damage. If you don’t have one yet, bring plenty of healing potions and make quick work of mining before retreating to safety.
Using Radiation Crystal
Radiation Crystals are essential for crafting high-tier items and summoning titanic bosses. They are a key component in crafting Titan Scanners, which are used to locate Druidra the Wild Titan, Pyrdra the Fire Titan, and Crydra the Ice Titan. These scanners require a mix of Ancient Gemstones, Mechanical Parts, and different ore bars, but without Radiation Crystals, you won’t be able to track down these powerful enemies. Beyond boss scanning, the crystals may also serve as a high-tier crafting material in upcoming updates.
